I don't know how to ask this without sounding condescending, but do you think the fact that your car was going to be on American Hot Rod and it would mean TV exposure for him might have played a part in you receiving your engine on a timely manner? I'm not accusing Tom of such...but one has to wonder why this guy would have to wait 15 months for an engine and you got yours right away. I'm not suggesting that thats what happened, I'm just trying to get a clearer picture of the events is all. I'll give Tom the benefit of the doubt, but I gotta be honest with you....theres not much I'd wait 15 months to receive after paying for. Especially an engine.

I know of an engine that took nearly 2 years to get, and it was for someone who gets a lot of press.

That's why I'm saying, I'll give Tom the benefit of the doubt. It could be that this guy is asking for an engine that a lot of parts have to be developed for. That would probably explain the 15 months of waiting. I only asked about the American Hot Rod thing because I know it's the first thing people are going to think of when they read that response. Not accusing anyone of anything...just curious as to what he thinks is all.

thanks to all from bulldogchevy

i just wanted to say thank you to everyone for giving their input on my situation concerning my twin turbo that nelson is building for me. we spoke today and everything seems to be on track, for the time being. i never doubted him as being a trustworthy guy and i understand that he's a very busy guy, which is a testament to his talent--but i'm just ready to be get on with my project for which i am having the engine built as well as others that have been held up as a result of having to wait for this one......
i'll be sure to post pictures of the my 69 camaro as it is being built so you can all see what i've been talking about.

If memory serves me right, it did Jody.

Bulldogchevy, welcome to the forum. :) You know we're going to need to see dyno video as well, right? :D

I hope it works out for you in a timely manner.

Trapin. Yes I understand that Tom pushed to finish my motor a little quicker due to the AHR show. I did cut the deal with him almost 2 years ago and gave him a deposit about a year and a half ago. This was well before Boyd even had a tv show. I was just trying to let others know that I thought he was a good guy and just really busy. He doesn't have a bunch of other people building his motors. His hands are on each one of them. That is all.

trapin 03-17-2005 05:42 PM

Good enough.

I can't say I blame Tom for doing it. If I owned a business like that and was trying to make a name for myself outside California, I would have done the same. That's just business. I wonder if he's starting to turn work away at this point. I guess that would be every business owners dream. To be so busy that you have to actually turn people away.
