well how much it will cost depends on. are you going to buy a kit or piece it togther can you do the work your self or have a shop do the work. but in general everyone was right the short block will be the most important part but rember the better heads and intake you use the less boost it will take to reach your goal and if you have e85 readily avabile you could look at nut running an inter cooler wihch brings up the fule system which is nearly as important as the shortblock.

Well, to answer your question. It can be done very reliably with about $12K if you do it all yourself using a LSX based motor. 1000 hp can be attained on 93 octane for this price.

It can prolly be built for that, but do you have a stock shortblock, what about heads,if so it won't live long at the track most likely.

All that really needs to be done to the motor is forged rods and pistons along with good valves, then you can pretty much make all the power you want.

Really, that’s awesome :wow: . How much did you pay for the whole set up when it was done? Are the LSX blocks only aftermarket? Do you have a break down of the parts you put into it?

I don’t know anything about the LS motors :( .

NITRO!!!

Stop spreading the news on the LS engines!!!

....Everyone is gonna want one after your ongoing publicity and we'll end up paying more (even more i should say...)

Lets keep them low profile!

I'm seriously looking to follow your path instead of the Procharger set up i had in mind for this winter. I'm just learning here and there at the moment. TT sure looks killer on top of things.

What kind of production Turbos could be salvaged from a donor car to build a butget / still hardcore system on an LSX platform?

Lead.

I would have to do a "new" real accurate cost total, but I know it is somewhere between 13-14K. I used the "BEST" materials possible though. Most do nothing for performance, I know that now, but when I was building it, I did not want to cut corners.

Stock block aluminum ls1's have made 1500 hp on the factory block! Basically just change the rods, pistons, valves, and timing chain. With trbos this will make a 100% reliable 800+ hp with un ported heads.

What’s the difference between an LSX block and an LS1 block? What vehicles could I get one of these blocks out of, truck or car, or just a car? I don’t know much about cars made after 1979.

LSX stands for the entire family of LS1, LS2, LS7, etc. The "X" means any of the numbers that go after it.
