Did the Lingenfelter vette do those times on street tires?

Hi All,

Found this forum and thought I would chime in...

There are lots of "street-legal" drag cars that can meet, or beat, the new record (which is now 9.8 seconds 0-100-0 and 2.7 seconds 0-60). The GTR did this with approximately 685 n/a fwhp on DOT tires.

The record is for a "factory" car...one that you can write a check for and it shows up at your house. There may be dozens of speed shops that can mod an F-body or Mustang to beat this record. The new, 700 hp Saleen S7 Turbo quotes a 2.8 second 0-60, but that car is $555,000!!! No numbers listed for 0-100-0. BTW, a 685 fwhp Ultima can be had for around $85k, depending on options.

GTR's are cool cars but I don't know if I would consider one a "factory" any more than a custom built Cuda or any other car you could pay someone to build for you. So long as it runs on DOT tires and is legal to drive on the street it seems like a fair fight..

BTW.. can you get me a deal on an Ultima??? please!! ;)

I need to work on Schwartz to give me a ride in his Ultima GTR. :D

Ha! A deal? Sure! What scale would you like? It's available in 1/16th and 1/24th. ;)

I know what you mean about the "factory" issue. But, that the rule. If you can't purchase it directly from the factory and run it, it doesn't qualify for the "factory" 0-100-0. Now, take that Cuda to the Silver State Classic and enter it into their Z-2-Z race (0-200-0) and you may set a record.

Luckily, I've had the pleasure of riding with Jeff. Last I heard, he's working on a twin turbo setup for it!!! :eek: :thumbsup: :hail:

There was a guy out of Salt Lake that put a TT in his Ultima and made 1300 hp. He took that car to 229 mph and backed off. He was in 5th with a 6-speed transaxle! That, too, was at the Silver State open road race. Then, he sold it.

I'm good. ;) Lateral-G was a link from an engine parts vendor. I thought it might have something to do with road-racing. I am sort of looking around for SBC engine builders that specialize in road-race cars. Was checking out the forum and hit "search" for Ultima. Not that tough to find...

Define "factory" ;)

So if I ordered up a foose Camaro that would be a factory car?

Rules make me --> :willy:

And I will take the 1/16th please.. or a 32/33nd version to save weight :)
