Thanks John. It is really taking shape. I almost can't stand it. We are going to place the rear upper coil over mounts tonight and the front upper control arm mounts. Then we will start on the motor and tranny mounts as well as the x-member. When more parts arrive we may have a roller in a couple weeks. :willy:

More Progress!
 

Moving along! The x-member is tacked in, the motor mounts are in progress, the rear suspension brackets are finish welded, and the trans mount is tacked together. Lots of welding to do. The completed chassis should be heading home soon. Coooooool!!!!!!!:woot:

wow that is fast and well thought thru progress.. like the way you kept the rollcenter at axle-height in the rear! the crossmember also look almost un-americanly stiff and well engineered (no offence intended to other chassis builders, but many a chassis is built for looks, not function) the welds are beautifull

what is the IFS? M-2 based? custom??

I've been working for months designing the chassis. Progress can be made when you make a plan and stick to it. We'll see how long that lasts! LOL I can't take credit for the 4-bar or IFS. Those are Morrison pieces, their workmanship and engineering are very good. I spent alot of time deciding first whether to design and build everything myself or to purchase certain key components. In the end we chose to purchase the weld-in IFS and tri-angulated 4 bar. I designed the rest to package these items for our project. So far it has been a good compromise between form, function, cost, and time. I really appreciate the kind words, I've been working very hard at this. My buddy that is doing the welding will also appreciate the kind words. the front end is based on M-2 stuff. Morrison has done a good job improving on this time tested set-up. I know it is not ideal for a track vehicle, but for the cost and ease of obtaining parts it fit for us on this project. It certainly will be leaps and bounds better than anything we could have done with a stock 68 Chevy Pick-Up chassis. The plan for the rest of the truck is underway, I'll be working with Ben Hermance shortly to refine the vision for the rest of the project. Again, thank alot for the kind words.

Thanks Max. The jig is left over from circletrack racing days. We built it to repair and setup the racecars. It is working great for this project. What's happening with the TOP SECRET project? Any hits on ebay?

The chassis is in the car trailer waiting for a space to be made in the garage. We did however get a nice package from Tim at PRRC. Wilwood Big Brake kit for the front and 12" kit for the rear. It's like Christmas all over again. Thanks Tim, you guys are great to work with. :thumbsup: The axles and third member should be done in a week or so. We are getting ready to start the rust repair on the cab (Yuck)! I guess you take the good with the bad.

talk about a stiff frame. That thing looks "beefy". Shoot a couple of pics over to the OEM truck guys and tell them "this is how it's done.
