Volkswagen guy huh? Well this should help explain it:

But that VW/Porsche is an extreme example. As long as it stops, steers and accelerates better than stock, it's pro-touring.

My 1st car was a 62 vw with 40hp at the flywheel. I put on tires, rims and flared fenders. I thought I was pretty cool. I also remember paying 25c a gallon at a cheapo gas station. And sorry, I don't know who Kenny Wayne Shepard is, but I'm on the older side.

welcome. i was also a vw guy at one time.
good luck with this stuff, and be careful. it gets much more expensive than you may have planned very quickly :unibrow:

Now from a guy building a 65 Porsche with an C5 drive - I'm thinking a 62 split window bus lowered onto a Morrision GT chassis and full LS/Z06/C6 drive and suspension would be Really sweet - and look at all that room for an LCD wide screen, X-box, bazillion watt stereo, etc ....

yep, I'm a sick man .

lol yeah I had to find out the hard way. i purchased The car for $100.00 from my auto shop teacher. It didn't come with any of the front sheet metal, nor did it come with any of the front suspension. On top of all that all of the spare parts it did come with were for a 69 :( . I wasn't sure how expensive it was going to be but after spending over $500 bucks for all the front sheet metal and another $300 bucks for a 67 camaro subframe with disc brakes, I knew this project was going to cost a lot more than any VW i've ever worked on.....after stumbling across the pro touring camaro's here on lateral-g.net I realized it's way worth the money and the time.:lateral:
