Since when was the Fox-body Mustang considered an american muscle icon? By your logic, everyone who put Chevy, Hemi, or Olds motors in 28-33 Fords or Carrol Shelby stuffing a Ford V8 in an AC are all wrong. The motor swap is at the roots of hot rodding. :yes:

I kinda like it, im sure the SR26DET engine does wonders for weight distribution.. and besides im prety sure that publicity is good for buisness.. im also prety sure i wouldnt buy it.. but it sure beats a 79 mustang with a 140 horse 5.0.. :thumbsup:

Well being a Fox Body Mustang guy and an all around Mustang freak I gotta put in my 2 cents on this one LOL!
Personally I'd rather stuff the 4.6 blown 2004 Cobra motor and a 6-speed in my Fox Mustang! I just can't get enough of the the V8 thump. As a matter of fact I just sold my dropped S10 daily driver for yet another 5.0 Mustang - this time a super clean low mileage 1988 Mustang Gt. I've been into Mustangs specifically 5.0s for atleast 15 years and after awhile sometimes you get tired of seeing the same stuff. Cobra R wheels this, and stroker motor that. Sometimes you just wanna see something totally different and fresh. This is true of any car types or build types - pro-touring, pro-street whatever. Anyways, I think that it's pretty cool that somebody tried it and other than wheel and paint color choices I think it's a hell of a car! If I had done it, I'd have gone with like a smoke gray metallic and black rims - something a little more muscular possibly. I've gotten rides in turbocharged type R motored civic coupes runnin' 16lbs. of boost, my buddy had a mid 12 second 1995 300 Z twin turbo that could top out at about 180mph and corner and brake as good as about anything you'd find on the road. A few Japanese cars can make big smooth power. I'm not saying go out tomorrow and get a 2JZ turbo Supra motor and slap it in your 1968 Camaro but maybe be a little open minded and be inspired to be different. Different isn't always great but sometimes appreciating something like that Skyline powered Mustang might inspire you with an idea for your own build?

haha, yeah think the stang and 510 need to do some swapping. Either way the 510 would be one sick ride. I've always liked those cars, but definitely think the RB26 would 'fit' it better. Brand integrity is somewhat important in my mind. Gotta keep things straight, ya know?

i have a 510, i found the yellow dime on a 510 forum....... my 510 is getting a JDM nissan SR20DET, single turbo 4cyl, with minor upgrades 350-400hp in a 2000lb car with 50/50 weight distribution..... should be a fun "toy"

The thing about Nissan enthusiasts is that they're purists when it comes to the RB engine. They want to see it in 510's, 240sx's, 300zx's, etc. Not Fords! JGY is a Nissan shop, so unless they want to start tapping the Ford market, they should stick to Nissans. Plus, it's only a RB25DET out of a GTS-T. Nothing special. However, if it was a RB26DETT and they actually converted the 'stang to AWD, then I'd be impressed.

....some good points. I just don't know why only certain motors can go in certain cars? Point above was made about early Ford Hot Rods. What is the definition of a hot rod? The Stang isn't appealing to everyone and maybe not a lot of people but like it or not it's a hot rod. I think a 510 with an LS7 in it would be sick, but so would a RB26DETT. I see a lot of hot rods at shows that really don't appeal to me but they're still hot rods. If I built a 32 Highboy I personally would put a nice Ford small block V8 between the grill shell and firewall. But what do most guys stuff in there - a Chevy. A chevy in a Ford???!!!! Whaaaat? That's not right?:wow: But that's what a lot of people have built for years. If we set rules and limitations to what is cool or right to do to make it a worthy hot rod are we also limiting creativity? I know this could be debated forever and I'll stop adding my 2 cents:D but everyone has their own idea of what the ultimate could be. Here's one - How about a super clean 32 Ford Duece Roadster, RB26DETT, all wheel drive, 500 hp, coil over suspension, big brakes, and paddle shifters? Could that be a hot rod? I'm waiting to see guys take American style choppers and stuff Hayabusa engine/drivetrains in 'em if that's even possible? LOL!
