Don't ignore the weight savings of running a set of Aluminum heads, nor the fact that you can get away with a bit more compression on pump gas, all other things being equal...

Ah, good point on the compression.

I did read that article back some time ago. it was very good. i have to go back over it again. thanx.

the budget builder in me says to go with a nice hydraulic flat tappet cam setup.
That's what the budget builder in me says also. Until I start wiping lobes on flat tappets because of the zinc oil thing. And Rotella will go the same way because of EPA mandates. It caused me to bite the bullet and swallow the cost of a solid roller for my Pontiac. Don't make the same mistake I did.

well, since i plan on keeping my ride, i decided to go with the forged scat assembly and the 383 edelbrock top end kit with the 200 E-Tec heads. they claim 460hp and torque which is what i want for now. and the scat forged setup will let me put on a charger down the road. i can still build the thing for just under 5k and have a bullet-proof engine.

what do you guys think?
