The Mule looks even better! Who'd a thunk it?!? The hood looks awesome, cleaner and meaner!, The latch system is trick!
|
The work was done at Wheel to Wheel. They took a NOS GM cowl hood and removed the inner structure to punch the louvers. Then they built their own structure. I think if you look close you can see tubing going down the center. Yes their are cables to the latches and safety catches. The two containers on the firewall are rad overflow and power steering.

Looks awesome Charlie!! It keeps getting better!! I used the same style latches on the 57. I didn't like the gold cad plating on mine so I sent them out & had them cad plated silver. Just a idea?? Who am I to criticize the baddest 69?? LOL???

Ha ! That was supposed to get done but didn't.

The hood has a round tube perimeter with a single tube down the center to add structure. Most of the factory bracing has been removed to clear the louvers and new latching system. The latches are a factory Audi part.
Kurt PS: sorry about the gold Charley...... |
Welcome, Kurt. I didn't realize you had registered here at Lateral-g.
That's a slick hood. Charley, did you guys monitor under hood temps before the louvered hood was added? I'm just curious how much of a change you've seen (or will see). |
Looks great, great creativity in the louvers...and as an added plus, they can vent all of that high pressure air building up under there when the car hits 150+...

You're killing us Charley

Wasn't it difficult to get the silverpaint right, I assume you didn't repaint the whole car. Jan |
