Got the car stripped down to nothing. Cut out the inner fender wells, rear lower vent scoops, side exhaust holes through the rocker panels, and welded in a brake vent tube. Then I sent off to the media blaster on April 10th, 2006. Supposedly done in 3-5 days.

Back from the media blaster
Got it back from the media blaster on May 9th. Nothing but virgin metal:

No sense in having to remove all the rust again. Plus I feel like I have gotten somewhere  http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...yPrimered1.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...xyPrimered.jpg |
Metal Work
I removed these old floor supports and torque boxes:

More Metal Work
Strengthened the lower shock towers that can be a problem on these old Mustangs:
http://f5.putfile.com/5/13613303782.jpg Min tubbed the rear all the way to the frame rails. Not going to be using leaf springs on this car: http://f5.putfile.com/5/15019104648.jpg Roll bar: http://f5.putfile.com/6/15622474585.jpg Floor pans: http://f5.putfile.com/6/15622485392.jpg Shock tower conduit: http://f5.putfile.com/6/15817481076.jpg |
I installed the clutch/brake pedal roller bearing assembly.
http://f10.putfile.com/7/18420024060.jpg I fitted the Brake/Clutch pedal backing plate. http://f10.putfile.com/7/18418573127.jpg http://f10.putfile.com/7/18422061366.jpg I also installed the Shelby Pedals. http://f10.putfile.com/7/18420295163.jpg Welded up the original tail panel gas cap hole: http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...nelWelding.jpg |
I installed the Rick's Automotive 22 gal fuel cell, trunk hinges, trunk lock, bumper and rear valence.

Got the coilover rear end home.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...6/P7220001.jpg After carefully measuring I tack welded it in to place. Loosened all the bolts, measured again, and then finished the welding. I also installed side mounting plates to give additional strength. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...6/P7220010.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...6/P7220008.jpg Installed the Currie 3.25:1 differential, torque arm, and side subframe braces. http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...6/P7240004.jpg |
Got the chance to install the X Brace, Rear Shelby 12" brakes and lines, UP front coilover suspension and Shelby 13" front brakes. Wow, a lot more work behind the scenes that is not mentioned.
