Why is it not a street machine? When I displayed my truck at Del mar in april, The powers that be asked me if I was going to enter the truck in the street machine of the year award? It may not be a street rod, but it should have gotten into the top 5 for street machine at least. IMO |
55 convert.
Thanks For the comments guys , its hard to pick from all them cars an place them all in speacial classes , last year my car was in as a SMOY and won CROY ,I think the road coarse for SMOY is going to make things exciting, but just because its SHOW doesnt mean it doesnt work , or go . pics of my car at

I believe that truck is entered as a 48 which is way too early for it to be considered by Good Guys who gives out the trophy to be a street machine. And it's build style is way more likely to get it considered for Custom Rod of the Year but only if he specified he wanted to be judged for it on his Pro's Pick entry form. I'm not saying it wasn't a nice truck because it was killer and I took a bunch of photos of it there but a street machine by definition of the award, it ain't. And if you were there and saw all the killer cars that were street machines, you wouldn't be arguing about the truck not getting a Top 5. And I'm not just shooting from the hip or stating my opinion, I've been to Columbus for the last 7 events and asked to be a SMOY judge this year but had to decline because I had 2 customers entered. If I didn't know, I wouldn't have been asked. |
Jason.... you are telling me that they asked you to help???? That is freakin scary.........:wow:
For any of you guys that have not seen Richards 55 .... That car is simply unreal........... |

When I was building the convertable I put together a 55 4dr full airide with a 95 lt1 to drive for a year COOL CAR ,lots of fun , I also built a 55 2dr ht in 1992 with a L98 4 sp 4 wheel disc , all the car are in my picturetrail. The convertable was a 5 year project and some ,I bought the LT5 Zr1 in 1999, and all the 2000 c-5 suspension in 2000, then I started the design on the car .I did everything on the car but the final body paint and interior, some of the build is in my picturetrail .I would like to go in more details on the build but that could take sometime ,I might have even forgot about some of the things I did . Now to Detriot , on the sunday the week of Detriot I fired the car,[ I had it run on the saturday without coolant 3 time for 30 second ]it started came to idle and ran for about 1 minute and then just started to make some noise and ate itself up on idle .The motor was gone threw by a high eng shop here in Toronto ,what happen were not sure but it , broke the drive on the two cams on # 1 bank and hit all the valves , braking one of them off , At this point I was ready to go out back and shoot myself, I decided to go the detriot knowing I could not compete. :( :( |
Thanks for the input amazing car! i love all the amazing detail metal work that most would over look like the door jambs etc awesome stuff, and sorry to hear about the cam problem i had heard there was problems with cams on these engines wasnt sure how true it was, seen the car outside the hooters sat night why'll i was cruising nice to see its being enjoyed aswell as shined lol
