Okay the heat wave has ended in Chicago and I was actually able to get primer on the walls. I still have some touching up to do which shouldn't take more then a day.

I'm hoping to paint the ceiling and the walls this weekend. Still trying to decide on the accent colors on the side wall.

So if you have any advise I would love to hear your suggestions.

So two weekends ago i decided to go to the Good Guy's show in Joliet with a buddy. Never did i think i would run into a garage cabinet guy. Let me tell you this guy has some really cool stuff. All of his cabinets are powdercoated and built like they should be.

http://www.redlinegaragegear.com/

So Jerry and I started working together to come up with some designs for my garage. Here is what we've come up with so far. It's going to change a little but i just haven't had time to talk with him. Been way to busy at work.

here is what we've come up with so far.

syborg tt 10-04-2007 07:54 AM

Okay worked on the 2nd design yesterday.

Now it seems i am a little more excited about painting the garage and actually getting the cabinets in. So the plan is to finish painting the back half this weekend.

The center opening is for the 37" flat Panel tv

Good Afternoon All,

Okay were back to working on the garage again.

This time I've hired some very skilled labor the good news is they work for food and shelter only.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._10_07_010.jpg

Not only can I paint the trim but I can do an awesome job on my legs Dad.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._10_07_026.jpg

Yep the bigger one seems pretty good with a roller

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._10_07_013.jpg

Installed the base boards -- they made a huge difference.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._10_08_006.jpg

Okay it's painted - 7 1/2 gallon of paint later but it's painted.
Now it's time to bring my tool boxes home.

Looking Good Marty !

You shouldn't be using child labor - we have laws against that mister !

AND, you can't count the 1/2 gallon they are wearing .... that would be 7 gallons.

I was just about to comment on the child labor, too. Looks good though, keep up the good work. I wanna see that truck in that garage someday soon.

Yep that's the bike - did i mention that it tried to kill me on the 6th? Same Jump I took 11 years ago and ended up on my back for 31 day's made me crash again. Man i am never riding that trail again

syborg tt 10-16-2007 01:14 PM

Spent some time working on the garage this weekend. Didn't do much but because the wife was in Puerto Vallarta.

I was able to get the 8' lights hung. I wanted them to still plug into the ceiling because i plan to hang a shop light on each side of the shop.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._10_13_037.jpg

Started dragging the cabinets into the garage. Still plan to buy a couple more.

Hi Brent - thanks for the compliments on the garage and i didn't notice your comment about the mini-truck

syborg tt 10-17-2007 08:34 PM

Okay the layout of my Garage is changing. I want to make it more "Build" friendly. In other words
look good but allow me to build a car like a Camaro in my garage and still keep it clean and tidy.

Just recieved the new Sear Tool Catalog and they have a new Rack System that I like a bunch.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album...07_10_17_1.jpg

So here is the layout that I did tonight. Please tell me what you think.

WTH Marty ? You score the Lottery lately or something.... bad ass TT mini-truckster, the 2nd gen, outrageous garage makeover.... - or should I forward this to ATF for a little 'discussion' with ya ??

Only thing I might suggest is wiring conduit in the walls for all the entertainment wiring/interface. You doing Sat recvr, DVR, audio, IR ports, cable, cat-5 remotes, PC interface, antenna, etc ?? I'd figure all that out and make sure you have enough power outlets, interface cable conduits, etc. so that you don't need to pull any cabinets to wire it all up.

I did all that when I wired my garage and shop. They are zones of a multi-zone system interfaced to the main A/V systems in the house via IR Cat-5 remotes. The only control device I have in the garage is the TV tuner and a Sat receiver.

LOVE that Plasma man !!! (and jealous too...)

Actually, I've sold all of my other projects so i could finish Syborg and I didn't plan to build another car till after the mini-truck was completed. But then i just couldn't pass on the Camaro. My best friend growing up had one so it brings back High School Memories so i had to have it.

The garage on ther other hand has been something that i've been wanting to do for so long and I figured since the Trucks at Kenny's I had to do it. I had all of the tool boxes at my warehouse for the last 6 months and I have about a grand left to spend on racks and misc stuff then it should be complete less the tv.

I picked ups some cable from www.windycitywire.com - it's some really cool stuff. Two Cable, Two RG6, Two Speaker all wrapped up in one wire. I will be putting in a 5 chanel stereo in the garage with some old Bose Speakers that i've had since the early 90's. Should sound good for a garage.

It was Johns idea - he said every nice garage needed one.

syborg tt 11-26-2007 10:22 AM

Well the girls and I hit the garage again this weekend. I had to fix the heater before we could get to work. It was nice working in 65 degree garage vs the 30 degree's it was outside.

here is where we started.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._11_23_004.jpg

needed to take down the old tool boxe's so I could set up the new cabinets

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._11_25_001.jpg

All of the upper Cabinets layed out on the floor.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._11_25_004.jpg

Upper Cabinets Mounted - left space for the flat screen in the center.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._11_25_008.jpg

Doors are mounted - need to do some adjusting. It was late and I was tired.

Okay back to working on the Garage.

I finally started building the counter top out of 3/4" Cabinet plywood. The
work surface is 12 feet by 21" deep. It's nice to have a counter top again.

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._12_18_001.jpg

close up of the layers

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._12_18_002.jpg

here is how it looks

http://www.syborgtwinturbo.com/album..._12_18_004.jpg

The next step is to lay 1/4" aluminum plate on top of the counter.

I was hoping to see you at Detroit ???

Steve1968LS2 01-02-2008 02:35 PM

Very nice!

Right now my garage, with Penny in it, looks crappy.. exposed studs and one lousy 110v outlet.

When the Fairlane goes I'm rebuilding it to be a nice shop. Thanks for the tips!

Mabye if we both buy our stripper poles at the same time we can get a discount? lol

Spent some time looking for the right pole

They make a removable one. I think it's a good idea one less thing to have to explain to the kids and neighbors
