You mean 61 full size Buicks....;) |
Will the chevelle hinges fit other a-body cars of those years? How about a '69 GTO?

The 1965-67 Chevelle hinges are the same and are interchangable with 1965-67 Impalas, 1967-69 F-body's and 1966/67 Chevy II's. We have a '65 and a '70 Chevelle right now I'd be interested in a few sets for. |

Heck... I dont mind you throwing a set on my Buick for me:beavis: |

those hinges wont fit my chevelle 64 model nor do they fit the 72 that is in the shop.....not saying they couldnt work but they dont bolt up. |
Sorry Travis,
I tought your car was a 65' for some reason, is there really that much difference between the two as far as the hinges? Paul |

Re-read my post... i never mentioned '64 or '72 anywhere in the post. |

Hey I didnt write the book
I could let you know soon... or you, me. I think am going to bite it and buy a set for our '65. I'll see exactly what needs to be modified.... good thing i have access to a CNC. Worst case, I'll save them for another up coming project. |

I can tell you they can be modified to fit if they dont with no problem. Even on my 64 one of the fender holes would come forward and enlarge the slots in the hood by about 1/4 of in. closer together and they will work. I can check a 65 or give you the measurements on the hinges if you need them. |
So basically the center to center on the hood is "closer" and the hinge is "wider" . So I'll "oblong" the slots on the hinges with the lathe so that they are closer ?

On the 64 Chevelle the fender mounting section and pivot points appears identical to 67-69 Camaro. But the top piece that bolts to the hood is completely different and would need it's own designated piece. In addition to the holes being closer the shape of the hood mounting area is not flat, it's offset, so the piece would need to conform to that. Jody |
Like I said in Columbus, good stuff Fesler! Looking forward to a set for our 67 Chevelle.

I used it for my engine bay, dash, and core support. It has that satin black finish. Great looking paint. |
those hinges are bad ass... I think they look better than the ring bros. ones. I am savin my pennies for the second gen set. Will they work with fiberglass hoods???

I say production run because you really don’t/shouldn’t have to wait for people to sign up (i.e. ensure you have demand before building) ... rather it seams once you have the product, it will readily be bought up. Look at this site – this is a product that will sell – sure the price made me cringe and I ignored consideration for a month now – but I kept coming back. I’ve seen a lot of price comments posted (and my wife has given me an ear full) but look at everything else - - I never thought brakes, radiators, rims etc would cost what they cost but when you move to stainless, billet aluminum, carbon fiber it isn’t cheep and when you compare the price to other things it isn’t to bad …. I can’t make’m I can’ see why you couldn’t/shouldn’t do a production run for 69 chevelles, 67 chevelles and other popular models where there were high production numbers. My guess is if you made 100 pairs of 69 and a 100 pairs 67 you'd sell them all. Its hard for me to round up or bank on a bunch of 69 chevelle owners/builders committing upfront. Its also a type of product that if available you just suck it up because its available and there cool (on a 20-50K build what’s 600 bucks) .. if its not readily available many people will end up powder coating the ones they have and not circling back to see if the’re now avail. Either way put a notch for the 69 chevelle count - if there not available by January I'll probably powder coat mine and call it good. I'll try and monitor your web-site and this forum to see if they ever come about. |
voicemail and PM sent...

Or am I just missing something? In any event Fesler makes these for more applications. If you have a Chevelle then the Ring hinges arn't an option.. |
so is there going to be a set ready for the early A bodies 64-67?

Great product, as always Chris. |

if that's the correct pic on your site for the 65's they won't fit. The early Chevelles (at least 64/5 cannot have the arm sticking down like that one has, it hits the inner wheelwell and the hood will barely open before contacting it. I just called Fesler. Those hinges will work, but they will also require a fair amount of inner fenderwell cutting due to that arm hanging down. I'm not going to do that at this point. They may be redesigning them at some point. If they'd make them like their 70-72 Chevelle hinges they'd work, no arms hanging down. Jody |
