If you like FEs check out Jay Browns site. He won drag week a couple times with some FEs.

Almost 900hp out of a NA 519 cammer. that is serious. His 545 Highriser will be close to 1000hp NA:woot:

Thanks for the link, I'll check it out.

I think cammers are my favorite motor. Along with a few other million folks, huh? :D

I'd put one in one that looks like this.

Oh I know.

Side note: tough enough trying to find pics of one, much less buy one. :)

You may have seen that crappy shell that sold for over $100K?

Not many left out of the 50 NHRA factory racers.

FETorino 05-01-2012 05:22 PM

I got a progress picture today that really has me motivated.

For anyone who likes the old school stuff here is the dual four intake I bought to try out. :D

Yea it seems that way doesn't it. The guys at RS are making lots of progress on the chassis. The motor will be on the dyno soon. And a few more surprises in the works.

http://www.roadstershop.com/current-...-s-1969-torino

I did have sense enough to abandon this.

What kinda car is that again? It looks pretty big and slow to me.

Vegas69 05-16-2012 10:19 PM

What do you expect the curb weight to be?

Stock weight with the FE was 3537 lbs. AL radiator, block, intake and water pump put my motor at the SB weight of 3200 lbs or less. Then I have to add back some weight for the full frame chassis.

Long story short. I'll know when I weigh it. :willy:

Flash68 05-16-2012 10:32 PM

That doesn't sound too bad at all actually. You doing a cage? Full?

Yes. The new chassis intrudes into the stock floor behind the front seats in the passenger foot well. Phil and the boys are adding a tie in point for the main hoop on the chassis at that point.

I haven't decided wether I'm doing a full cage or just a 4 point.

Flash68 05-16-2012 10:58 PM

Man with that kind of power and chassis I'd go full for sure. RS could do a sweet one you'd barely know is there. :unibrow:

intocarss 05-16-2012 11:08 PM

Is Phil Mandella building your car?

No. The Roadster shop is doing a chassis for me along with minitubbing and some other fab work.

http://www.roadstershop.com/current-...-s-1969-torino

Blair Patrick is doing my motor.

I'm the PM, parts chaser and assembler. :willy:

Greg Weld is tasked with wheel choice. :wow:

intocarss 05-16-2012 11:43 PM

Ok cool. Blair for sure knows his stuff

Vegas69 05-17-2012 07:09 AM

It's ligther than I thought. It really just comes down to home much extra stuff you can live without. :unibrow:

214Chevy 05-17-2012 08:04 AM

Yea, it's overkill to put this much effort into a Blue oval just to beat up on the Bowties. :D I probably could have left it stock to get that done.

Yep that's why he has TWO :unibrow:

FETorino 05-22-2012 11:51 PM

I took a field trip today to drop off some parts and look at some parts.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...a/speedway.jpg

I dropped my Wilwood rear disc kit off with Frank and Ken so they could finish my housing and get it shipped to the RS shop.

That's mine right there on the rack, yea that one the mod lite.
http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...dmyfloater.jpg

I got an education on floaters from the guys while I was there. After touring the shop and seeing their build process I am really happy with the choice to use one of their housings. :D

I also stopped off at Bentfab. Mark has a nice shop and is doing some really nice work up there.

Flash68 05-23-2012 12:31 AM

Very cool and wish I was down the street from a floater expert.

Hey thanks for the links to the drag week write up, really interesting stuff

Ron in SoCal 05-23-2012 03:14 PM

Dude - what time were you there? I walked in right about 12:45, right before Frank goes to lunch...:D

I left right at 12 and went down to Chatsworth to visit Bentfab.:D I was there about an hour with Ken and then Frank looking at the fixtures, different housing ends, talking seals, axles, bearings and bearing maintenance. Great guys to deal with.

Ken said he'd been running those mod lite ends on every race car of his since he can remember.

FETorino 05-25-2012 11:28 AM

I sought professional help

But the psychiatrist still couldn't talk me out of building my Torino Cobra.:D

I figured I'd relax and watch some inspirational videos.

Then I got professional help to visualize what I think I'm building.

http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...no_con2b-3.jpghttp://i291.photobucket.com/albums/l...ino_con1-4.jpg

Now I guess I'll just keep throwing $$$ at it. :faint:

I figured you'd like the black wheels. I was waiting for you to suggest I paint it orange.:D

Roadster Shop 05-25-2012 12:57 PM

Rendering looks bad ass! I'm diggin the black wheels as well. We should be able to run the flat hoot with that 427 LS motor.:D

Your bell housing came in today so we can get the motor/trans set in and get the measurements on that oil pan.

I'm asking for an invoice I want to make sure the quicktime order says FE not LS:D

BBC71Nova 05-25-2012 02:39 PM

I didn't realize a Torino could be so bad ass. Wow.

fleet 05-25-2012 04:00 PM

Both look great...tough call.

Matt@BOS 05-25-2012 04:06 PM

Get the Agent 47 Forgelines. They're just the right blend of old and new for that car!

Flash68 05-25-2012 05:28 PM

Love both renderings. :woot:

Too bad they only make them in 18" :( otherwise that is what I wanted to run new style old shcool. :D

So the second choice, as of now, is the GZ3.

Compromise brother its PT, not Lemans form over function.:D

Either 18/19 or 19/20 remember this is a big car and without a decent height tire in the rear it just won't look right. Welcome to PT vs full race. More unsprung weight. On the other hand a larger diameter tire does offer a bigger contact patch.

These mock up pics were with a 335 30 20. 28" tall.
