That car is just amazing and can't wait to see some detailed pictures..... I was a big fan and followed it on the show. I figured most all that stuff for TV purpose only! Look forward to the pics.

Shaun,
Is that carpet in your garage? I didnt even notice that until now. Looks kinda good  |
TwinSting...
Hey Shaun -
Absolutely love your car. Want to donate it to a worthy cause?? LOL Anyway, I don't know how much you have had a chance to drive it, but 1. How is the 5-spd holding up? 2. Is the clutch enagement/disengagment tolerable under "full" power ? 3. Do your tires bite enough to stress the clutch/transmission at all ? 3. Do you feel like you are near the edge of any missed shifts ? Tom Nelson is building me a high horsepower BBC and since I am putting a highly modified manual transmission behind it, I was wondering if you had any pointers or thoughts on your experiences driving your vette. Thanks a lot Shaun. -Bruce :) |

Hey Groovyjay
You're in a slightly different scenario in that you already have a T-56.
In that case, I think the G-Force upgrade is the best. I started from ground zero and found that most places feel that a properly prepped TKO600 may be able to handle a higher load than a T-56 in gears 1-4. In both transmissions, running in 5th or 6th gear is not recommeded under high torque loads. While researching the tranny issue, I was pointed to Promotion Powertrain in Ft. Lauderdale Florida. You can speak with the owner, Walt. He thinks it will withstand 1200-1400 hp, maybe more. They get a brand new TKO600, take it apart, cryogenically treat, polish and replace the gears, beef up a bunch of the internals, tighten up the tolerances and add an external girdle that further strengthens the transmission case against flexation. That's about it. Hopefully it will hold up under high torque/hp loads. :) -Bruce |
Is it home for good now?
If so I would like to get the darn thing shot.. :) Betcha you are happy to have it home.. |

Hey guys,
Well I went and got the Vette from Boyds for the final time on Friday. It is about complete finally. I plan on getting out and driving it over the next week or so. I have not yet really gotten into it. I want to break it in slow and also Tom Nelson and I need to dial in the tune on the streets. I will try to post some new pictures and also reviews as i start driving it. Steve- Let me know when you are available to shoot it. |
That's awesome, I can't wait to see some detail shots. I could also host some video... hint, hint. :unibrow: :D

Hey Shaun -
Glad to hear that you have taken your vette back from Boyd. Now you can enjoy it, instead of having the $ clock ticking at his shop. Enjoy It !! (...and tell me how that tranny works.) -Bruce :) |
Bruce-
I have only driven a little in the car but I can tell one thing about the trans. It takes some getting use to. It is not real smooth at low rpm shifts due to the straight cut gears. You also hear it when cruising. Doesnt help that I have straight cut gears in the quick change also. Makes for some gear noise!! |
Question did Boyd build the hood hinges?
The engine compartment is just beautiful. :cheering: |
Yes, I belive Boyd built the actual hinges and then also used a stock vette hood stay to keep it open.

Shaun,
What show this summer do you plan on hitting? |
I will be doing a lot of shows this year including many Goodguys events in Cali, Arizona, and Columbus. Also I will be at Hot August Nights in Reno.
|
Cool,
I hope to have my car done for columbus. Do you plan on having it in the pro area? |
Sting,
I don't mean to offend you but what kind of price range does it to cost build something like that? That is one amazing machine! Would love to see more detailed pics. |

Our current plan is to make to H.A.N. this year, I truelly hope to see you and your car there! |
Hey Shaun -
Long time, no hear. So, have you had a chance to drive the 'vette around yet ? Was wondering your impressions about the manual tranny with all that power. Thanks. |
Bruce-
I have not really driven it much. Just have been too busy and I have also been fighting a fuel regulator problem. I have not gotten on the car hard yet. Just some slow cruising. Trying to make sure everything else is ok before I start getting on it hard. The trans is touchy and hard to get into low gear somtimes and tries to grind with slow shifts but that is probably the gears. I will let you know more and include some up to date photos soon! Shaun |
Thanks Shaun
We are alike in that you don't just hop in an floor it, you ease into it over time and learn how the car handles - the do's and don'ts. Keeps you from wrapping it around a pole. |
