Definitely not 19's, but they are probably 18's. The car is back in the shop and I will post up when I get a definite answer.
Man i don't know how. I've got 14" wilwoods with 18" wheels and man talk about a tight fit.

it can be done but it all depends on the rim, you cant with most road rims

The touring cars (v8 super cars down here in australia run 375mm (14.76") rotors under 17 x 11 rims and they are a tight squeeze

ironworks 10-03-2007 04:48 PM

we just put some 13" rotors in 15" wheels. For a rally car we are building.

But those wheels shown will not fit 15" rotors

96z28ss 10-03-2007 07:26 PM

I live within walking distance to Steve's shop. They build some nice stuff there.

byndbad914 10-03-2007 07:50 PM

wow wow wow wow wow... :wow: Your dad is doing almost exactly what I was intending to do with a 70 Mustang Fastback - C5 (or 6) suspension with stock mounting configuration, rear trans for weight distribution, shell of a body over full tube chassis, obviously non-Chevy engine with clutch up front adapted with custom torque tube, etc etc. Only difference is I would have lightweight 18s all around and thinner wall chromoly for road racing and that is it and this is the only other time I have ever seen a build so close to what I am expecting to do.

Definitely a cool build - I can't wait to see the full solution for how to mate the Mopar clutch setup to a custom tube to the Corvette rear diff/transaxle setup. It looks like he is going down a similar path to what I had envisioned with a support bearing at the flange and so forth, but I haven't really sat down to reason that out completely.

 Best of luck, can't wait to follow along.

edit - oh yeah, your Dad has some amazing welding skills too judging from the '33. Very nice and clearly a meticulous dude! I am meticulous, I just ain't near that good hahah.

syborg tt 10-04-2007 07:00 AM

I thought somewhere it said you were running 18's up front but went back and looked. Looks like your running a 19 x 8 so this conversation has been become moot. But fun none-the-less.

PS - Did i mention that i can't wait to see more pictures

Thank you very much for posting pics

:wow:  I agree, I am happy you are posting build pics. As said earlier, I have been cultivating an idea for a 70 Mustang that is very similar and it is cool to see someone else with similar ideas. Moving the front wheels is a cool idea and without elongating the front end is  It will be so subtle most won't notice it, which makes it a great idea. And going up one inch to unshroud the wheel... nice. I wouldn't notice it. At SEMA there was a pretty sweet Camaro but I just couldn't put my finger on what was odd until I found the builder and asked if he elongated the front end and he smiled and said good eye, first to catch it. Your mod will "feel" right and only a die-hard Mopar guy might catch it.

Again, great craftsmanship and can't wait for more updates. I personally really like the rocker idea, I didn't think of boxing in my own rail v. using 2x4 beam and setting the car on it, so that is really trick thinking.

syborg tt 12-20-2007 04:56 AM

I just figured out why you choose this size tires. Both of them have te exact same sidewall height of 3.86.

This is really a nice tire combo. Do you mind if i copy you on my next project.

syborg tt 12-20-2007 11:24 AM

lol - yep everyone pics on me, I am happy your joining the club.
