I would guess they're going to have to limit the turning radius with that combo.

Killer work and car... why the stock sub with a 285?

zrrigid 03-08-2008 06:20 PM

Where did you get those jack stands? I have been looking for some shorts ones that have a screw. Thanks, Ian

I was thinking the same thing! The car is stellar in every way and I know in typical Fesler fashion the car will sit perfect. Getting rid of stock sub would have incresed the tire capabilties - but also raise the scrub line big time. No disrespect Chris - as I said the car is awesome, just surprised with all the killer stuff on the car the stock frame remains.

fesler 03-09-2008 07:11 AM

We heat the frame and reshape it just enough to help clear the bigger wheels so that you can run this tire combo on a stock sub-frame no problems. We do it all the time and they sit perfect.

I know, I know please keep in mind that every car out there has a budget and sometimes its more important to spend the money in other places to achieve the same look and overall effect.

I am not 100% positive yet that changing the front sub-frame is that much better, I know you get some bennefits to it but for the most part we have gone both ways and I personally like the way the stock sub-frame is.

If I had it my way I would build a custom one like on almost every other car we do but on the Camaros its just not cost effective. These cars sit bitchen and have a killer drive with what mods we do. This is a full frame car now and the client wanted to keep it as stock as possible to the eye, if I change out the sub-frame all thats gone.

I have another Camaro in the works right now that you guys will flip on, nothing on the road like it and it sits 1" off the ground with 3-inch exhaust on it and you cant see the exhaust under the car. Building this one to set new standards.

Very interesting.....I still don't like the crappy old welds on the stock frame. What did you guys run in Orion?

fesler 03-09-2008 08:25 AM

We take the stock sub frame and clean it all up by welding up holes and smoothing it out, they look good after powdercoat or paint.

We did not build the Orion car so I cant tell you what they did. sorry

That camaro looks SWEET! I can't even imagine what a 572 would be like in that little car. I think you should do a little pinstripping on the passenger side interior compartment saying "Sit Down, Shut up, and Hold on" . That would be one hell of a ride. Sweet job so far Chris!

customcam 03-20-2008 08:31 PM

Simple and to the point! cool build im digging it

fesler 03-21-2008 04:29 AM

Its just the highest quality carpet you can buy, like from a mercedes and the way its put in makes it look perfect after forming. The interior is worth almost as much as the paint and most people will say thats crazy but when you drive down the road and feel like you are in a mercedes its worth every penny. If any of you are at Delmar come take a look at it and let us know what you think. :)

Carpet and seats look great. Why lap belts in such a high end car?

fesler 03-21-2008 09:30 AM

they are just in there now to fill the holes for carpet work, not sure what we are going to run yet as I think it needs something very cool. We might build our own set of custom ones and if we do we will offer them up here

very cool

eric1967 03-21-2008 06:25 PM

Where are you getting the rear frame rails? Are you making them or buying them from someone? All of your builds are top notch. Thanks for the pics & info.

marine02ss 03-22-2008 01:25 PM

Where can I order one of those carpets in black, that's what Ive been looking for, for a 68 camaro,Ill buy now.

surreyboy 03-22-2008 01:29 PM

Ditto, but i assume it was custom made and formed in the car.

fesler 03-23-2008 07:26 AM

We usually build our own as the ones you can buy will not let you get this wide of a tire on it. I can build another set and may produce them if people are intersted. let me know and we can go from there.

That carpet is very expensive and if I told you the price I am sure most of you would run. If you really want a kit like this we might be able to make something up that would be close and you would have to do final fitment with glue and steam. let me know

That is one sick ride, sick details and just look at that 572! Nice

trapin 03-31-2008 11:00 AM

I got to view this car close up when I visited Chris's shop in Arizona last week. It's as bad ass as it looks in the pictures and the quality is top notch. He's got a lot of projects going on and his build quality is right up there with the best. Good guy too, you can tell he is really passionate about this hobby. It was great meeting you Chris. Good luck with the car, I can't wait to see it finished.
