Rendering looks awesome! Even the purple..Yes it is a Mopar thing. Purple Camaro's don't fly but for some reason purple Cuda's do? Why is that?
Final product sounds like it will be a killer piece! Keep up the good work Ned & Chris. Brent |
Looks Awesome!

Thank you for the explination. You did a great job on the tubs and I did see that awesome bead roller of yours. |
Bump...what's the latest?
|
we've had a couple of "waiting for parts" delays and Chris and his GF just had a baby boy, so things have slowed down the last 2 weeks or so...
Chris' plan was to get back on it this week so hopefully he'll chime in with some updates soon.... |
kind of off topic but do you go to the almamont crusiers car shows in livermore in the summer time? i have seen your camaro somewhere, lol just woundering.if you do maybe ill see you down there this year.i might acuallly have my car done for this years shows lol. also the new build looks gr8 cant wait to see it done
|
Yes we went to the Livermore show last year and probably will go this year too...
|
is it friday yet!? :unibrow:
Will the car still be there next weekend...I hope so!! |
Hey Tony
Yes the car wil still be there....... Are you going to the shop next friday ?? Hopefully Chris scored some better doors and maybe a fender today..... |
Yeah Ned I'm suppose to be down there next weekend, excited to see the Cuda!!
|
I'm looking forward to following this thread. The 70 Cuda is the ultimate

Time for more updates!!
The new quartes are installed now...I elected to do a quarter skin rather than the full quarter to preserve as much of the original sheetmetal as possible. I just dont think the repop stuff has the rigth fit and crispness to the body lines etc. Chris spliced it all in using TIG and hammer/dolley, so the line should be seamless and not "ghost in" over time.

More updates
New rocker panels. I bought a repop (goodmark doesnt make them, its some other brand) and after Chris installed it, he didnt like the fit and body lines, so he took it off and made one himself to make sure everything fit perfect and had nice lines and seams.
http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0557.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0594.jpg Chris was also able to find another fender in much better shape than what I had for a reasonable price. Should save alot of time and labor as compared to fixing what we had already. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0561.jpg XV Motorsport SFC's getting ready to fit and tack in...Chris is gonna fit them and just tack them in for me while the car is on the chassis table. That way we can be sure its square and level. I'll finnish them up once I get it back and put it on the rotisserie. Should make welding the seams alot easier. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0593.jpg |
More updates
The trans getting mocked up. Mark Bowler (what a great guy) is building me a wicked 4L85e, and I plan on going with a Twist Paddle shifter. The trans is taking some tunnel work to get it to fit, but....gotta do what we gotta do :) Right now its just an empty mockup trans.... the pan is huge !!!! The pan doesnt hang too low, and still has clearence with the car fully dropped.

More updates....
The tubs are 99% done... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0608.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0609.jpg The tunnel mods for the 4L85e... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0611.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0610.jpg The old inner fenderwells cut out.... Chris did some mock up ones but I wasnt crazy about the design, so he's still working on them. We're trying to open up some space and clean things up without losing some of the look and "feel" to the stock ones.. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0606.jpg |
Looking good! I bet Chris is glad the tubs are finally done!!
|
Cool build keep the pics coming, just by chance do you know what kind of a truck they stretched in the background, looks sick:hail:
|
Love it :hail:

Looks great, Ned. We are going to have some awesome machines when we are done! Maybe someday we can get them together...

Project ''blackjack''
IN THE WORD'S OF JOE DIRT (DANG):hail:
|
ttt for updates
|
Nothing major to show via pix. Chris has made quite a bit of progress, but nothing exciting to show via pix.
We're still working on the design for the inner fenderwells. Goal is to clean things up, open some room but retain some of the factory look. Heres some of the design so far. We tried a big flat design with no bead roll and it looked wierd. What do you guys think of the beadroll design?? The first one... I though the upper areas was too big, so we scaled that down.. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0618.jpg This is the next version where the top section is smaller and the beadroll isnt as deep. This piece will be rolled over and then a "shelf" will be created similar to the stock look.... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0687.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0685.jpg This is stock for reference.. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/P1010033.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/P1010032.jpg |
Some more updates. Chris has begun doing the initial fit of the front sheetmetal so he can dial in the gaps etc. All the marker lights and door handles are filled in and he's worked out alot of the dents etc.
So far the fiberglass AAR hood fits "okay" but will need some tweaking....just the nature of fiberglass stuff :) We should be finalizing the inner fenderwells soon and starting the integrated spoiler and flush mount taillights too. http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0738.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0736.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0737.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0740.jpg |
WOW! That rear end looks AMAZING!
Love the 'Cudas. |
Looking good Ned/Chris! Wont be long now!! :woot:
|
Finally some updates !!
The inner fenders are done....goals was to smooth them out and open some room but keep some of the feel of the original design......lead is out of quarter seams and looks okay under it....no major rot suprises... http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0766.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0762.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0763.jpg http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0757.jpg Trans tunnel is in and needs finnish grinding etc http://i229.photobucket.com/albums/e...5/IMG_0754.jpg |
Ned
this truly a great project especially for me since i was thinking to do the same thing to my 72 cuda, i will start on my project by the end of the year i will learn alot from you're cuda i can't wate to see the result it is going to be a great car can you snd me the rendering for the cuda i like the color and the looks :) great job |
Rob and I are heading up to Orgeon to pick up the car tomorrow...wish me luck...
The majority of the metal fab as far as body mods, rust repair etc are done.....now back to work in my garage :) I have high hopes that it will live up to my expectations.... I'll post pix in a couple of day... |
SWEET!! Give my car some love if you see it!! :woot:
|
Well....I got it back...
Lets just say its "rough"......there are alot of areas than need attention...... lots more final grinding and tweaking...... good start in alot of areas, but not what I was hoping for overall..... gonna have more filler than I wanted too..... I've got alot more work ahead of me than expected......:( I'll post some pix in a couple of days...... |
