rear tires need to come out an inch, do that and then repost pic:thumbsup:
|
Like some other people said, I would bring the rear wheels out a little more, and they will be perfect! Looking good. Thanks for the updates.

sweet-thanks guys for the input- I think they need to come out too- but I wanted the car to sit low- and there is no room- back to my problem- if they are out- then the car can't sit where I want it- if it is slammed the wheels are in too far and it looks like an old-school pro-street car-
I'll play with it some more this week-end-thanks again-Chris:D |
If they need to be in that far for clearance, leave 'em. Hard to tell at those angles, but they look fine to me.
|
You are probably already aware of this (if you are planning on running disc brakes) but make sure you take into account the rotor dimensions,
(usually .250 on each side) |

which brings up a whole other question regarding brakes but I will save for a later post |
The first time around I had my wheels (Intros) too far under the car and it never looked right....so I ordered new wheels (Fikse) with less backspacing. You only need a .5" or so of clearance...it looks like yours can come out a bit.
The 67-8 quarters make this a challenge for sure. Even when the wheels/tires are out as far as possible they still look well under the car. Look at pics of Penny and my car, they are pulled out afap to work with a stock lip, but still look like they could come out a pinch...don't beat yourself up here...just make it perfect! ;) |

All good advice here. When I measure up custom fitment, I leave .375" of clearance to the outer fender, and at least .750" of clearance to the inner fender. The inner fender is where it would potentially rub first with body roll, the outer fender just needs enough to clear the top corner of the tire, and come over. Looks like you are getting close, looking forward to seeing the car in Columbus!

as much as I love block-sanding.. I can't wait to start screwing this thing back together. Paint is a little over a week away. A little update on the parts collection: I bought a AAW kit from one of their vendors last week at the Portland Swap Meet...very impressed, it even came with my new ignition switch and keys! the 6.0 will be done at the machine shop next week. and I have the rear-end all assembled with Randy's ring and pinion 3.89's I think that 'll work out good for the trip in the midst of a full-time job I am a week away from being done with my Bachelor's degree 20 years after high school! Am I too old to park in the "young guns" parking? anyways deadline is still looking good..many pics coming up soon -Chris Oh yea..Fred-GET YOUR CAR ON HERE!! Chris |
Who is Fred? Does he live close to us??

STill Sanding
here's an update pic. it may not look too different, but I've been working a ton of hours getting the gaps right and block sanding. I'm glad some talented people stopped by to teach me a few tricks.

sweet, I'll give it a try, I adjusted the hinges down till the rear corners were too low..I knew a 2x4 would be involved somewhere, I just didn't know the right technique- Thanks- chris

Lines look great Chris. I tossed back and forth, black silver black silver. I think silver is a great choice. I've always liked Mercedes Benz Iridium Silver. I've also really liked this build and color by Travis B. The cars on this site are a great inspiration.
