We are currently working on Johns car harder and with more hours then ever. We still plan to have the car at Columbus. A lot of things have to happen before Coulumbus. I refuse to cut and corners that might affect the quality of the car, just to win a plastic trophy. I have slowed down the effort in My truck to get the Nova further along. The truck is supposed to be at Del Mar in April so I have time to spare and the Nova is supposed to be in Tracy's shop in April. So we are behind the 8 ball on it for sure. Are we getting there yes, I refuse to take the Nova to Columbus in any half ass form. It is about the car first and the plastic fireplace decor second. SO to answer your question, I hope so, I just bought a super deluxe trailer to haul both of these bad girls to Columbus to slide around the track.

That is awesome. I was hoping my first post would bring some of this out. Your car looks awesome. I think we would all love to see some video when you get it on the track. Going to Colombus with it? I would love to see it in person. I said in my first post for someone to prove me wrong and you stepped up. Maybe some of the others will as well. Again, sweet ride. Drive it like you stole it!

Roger,

It sounds like you've got a plan. I can't wait to see them. Has the price of "midnight oil" gone up as much as everything else? Keep up the good work. I wish we were closer to Tracy's shop. I would love to have our truck done there.

I don't think a drag/pro-street car has ever even been in the "top 5." So I don't think the new rules are going to leave those guys out.

The 1st couple were street/strip style cars, the red and white 55 Chevy and then i think a Impala was in there somewhere.

Yeah, could be. But if they don't show up in street/strip atire, it doesn't count. JMO

Columbus has a drag strip and Goodguys sponsors a event that weekend, maybe in the future the cars can make the trip out there, and make a few passes.

But if times don't count... does it really matter?

OOCustoms 01-29-2008 03:57 PM

This thread upsets me because ever since the Grand national left the bay area i have been unable to go to it!!! i started going to it in 92 till it left and there was nothing like it ever! Its what inspired me to get into customs cars for a career and my dad actually knew the winner of the ambr in '92. since the grand national left Oak/SF, the car shows that have replaced it CAN NOT even get near the quality and beauty of cars at all!!!!!!!! im sad!!

sorry i had to vent but thats it next year im going to SEMA and GNRS regardless because i want to see the true show cars!!!!

P.S. if anyone has more pics not in the thread please post them for the rest of us to check out!!!

Marc

Ask those other guys how r-compound tires do in the rain?:wow:

The new SMOY rules are a good start. In 2001 I brought the SC Nova back to Columbus and won. Here is what we had to do, park in the Pro's Pick on Sat., that afternoon they announced the top five. If you were in the top five they gave you a map and said drive the car out to Jegs for the BBQ, be there at 5:00 pm. It was about a 20 -25 mile trip ea. way, if the car did does not make it, your out. Park in the Pro's Pick area again on Sun. and then drive into the awards building that afternoon. I think if you add the autocross and 1 or 2 passes down the track it would a great competition.
Anybody remember the old Car Craft Real Street Eliminator?
I will be at the GOODGUYS season opener in Orange County with the Fairlane, they will have an autocross course there, I'm no "pro" driver but I'll do my best!

Yes, any picts??? A little chicayne video would be perfect! Pretty cool how a car that was build a few years ago...still looks fresh in its paint work and overall look.

Doug,

The autocross and strip runs would be cool. Plus the trip to National trail would cover the street driving. See if someone can take video of your runs with the Fairlane. I'm sure we would all love to see them. Your car is still one of my favorites from Colombus 07. Have fun with it.

I agree Marty, the 63 is really nice. Was in my top five at SEMA.

I built that car for a customer when I owned Street Works, after Columbus the owners changed the interior, and got rid of the cross ram and put on a TPI unit. The car has since been sold 2 or 3 more times, it's sad but I don't think the car will be the same again. I tried to track the car down for the '07 reunion in Columbus with no luck.

Um we need video, like Steve made of Penny going thru the paces.
Anyone can make statements like that with nothing to back it up with.
Plus we are all video and picture whores here.

syborg tt 02-01-2008 08:08 AM

This is one of the cars that inspired me to get back into building car or should I say a truck.
