But that is besides the point.. And again, I did not hear that it was going to cost that much.. then again I discussed a ton of stuff with the Unique guys at Good Guys so maybe I am just getting old. I will call them on Monday and get a better idea on price.. I thought base models under $100k with the nicer 572 model being $120k or so.. its sorta fuzzy.. |
im actually somewhat speechless...... i didnt realize the "famous" cars were bringin that kinda coin. but then again... a new truck fully loaded is pushing 60K+....so i guess im not all that shocked.

Another picture I found---

One thing I cant stand is the wording in the article. The way they describe the project makes it sound like the next enzo. So far the car is nice but its not going to turn the automotive hobby upside down. Chip seems like a good guy, but the car could have been a little more radical looking.Maybe I will like it more as I see additional photos.
As always, I can nit pick the car but if I got it as a xmas present I would be pretty happy. |

Other than the grille [and the price-tag] it's not too bad. Personally, I think most of Foose's designs are a little "over the top" for my tastes, but there are very few cars out there I wouldn't change something on... including my own :D
|
Is there just one breather on that engine ?
|
Car
Only appears to have one breather, huh. I hope no one was offended when I said I heard the car was a little rough for Foose standards. On the projects that he has total control he is awesome. He is probably being pulled in so many directions and being offered big money for his name that he can't possibly be in total control of all projects going. Personally, I think Foose doing a 69 camaro is cool. It brings publicity to these cars.
|
The grill isn't bad, it is just the way it is painted. Besides the billet center with the two overlay bars, it looks stock. If you paint it back like it is suppose to be, it would probably look ok.
If the price of these things are low 100's, they will sell. What makes the Elanor clones is they carry a Shelby vin number. Camaros won't have that luxury. Mike |
I really like everything about the car. I was expecting it to be like the next riddler, but it's still cool.
|
While the Camaro is very nice I think we are missing something. If Chip Foose is suppose to be the “Man” and he certainly is very talented and makes unbelievable cars……we have some members here that can give him a run for his money.
We should be proud. |

If you look at Kris' pic of the engine, the radiator still has a bar code sticker on it. Not only that but the Griffin radiator sticker isn't even on straight, details, details, details, oh & the tyre tread was dirty on the side shot. lol :)
To be honest it's probably a nice bit of kit, but because it has the Foose name attached people think it's the be all & end all, I'm sure that if the "name" wasn't attached to the car, the likes of Mark Steilows or Jodys' car would put it to shame, as would some of you other guys on this web site. :hail: |
Call Unique if you want but i spoke with the president of the company so my prices i'm sure are accurate. The car might have seemed rough but they also told me of the difficulty they had getting the car ready and to the goodguys show. Is the car worth as much as they're asking? No. Could you build a car for less that is better? Easily. Will they sell every one they make without a problem? Definitly. These cars are trendy, rich people will be jump at the opportunity to own the car carrying the foose name and badging.

It's really hard for me to say anything positive or negative about it without seeing it first hand. From the pics I've seen on the Unique webpage and the ones Kris posted (thanks Kris) is that it's pretty cool but I agree, not 100k+ cool. Someone will pay whatever for because of Chip working on it. I think for 100K I'd rather have one of those nasty Super Snake Mustang fastbacks that Unique builds. In my opinion, not that I'm biased (...ok maybe a little) but I think once Tyler's 50/50 is completed, I think styling-wise it will raise the bar above that '69. It's ultra radical, it's gonna be killer fast, and I think for those building over-the-top Camaros this one will set the standard. I also think the regular guy may not want to drive something like that and the guys that like the classic "stock" looks of a Camaro won't get it but it'll be innovative for sure.
My initial reactions to first seeing the Foose 1969 Camaro - Pretty wicked! I'm a big fan of Foose. I like the paint scheme, and the Carbon. The extensions look like they are lower than the front of the car - if that's the case then I don't like that then. They look a little too add-on but not bad. I like the wheels. I think seeing it without a rear wing looks kinda cool-different. I'd like to see the interior. Hopefully it'll be out at the NSRA nats in Kentucky then I can take a looky. I still have yet to meet Chip and would like to very much. I'd like to flash a couple of my sketches past him to see what he thinks. Anyways, this post got longer than I meant it to. I think all in all it's a pretty cool Camaro. John |
I think there are two different angles that we have to look at the car. You guys are all extremely knowledgable about true "g-machines", and judge the car on those qualities.
But who is buying these cars??? Why did people buy Eleanor? For its capabilites, or its looks? I may be making a generalization, but dont you think most people will buy the car purerly for looks? That is where I think the car lacks, from responses you have given I get the impression it is a true pro-touring car...but from a buyers standpoint...the Eleanor has the flash and look that makes money. I dont think this 69 does. But we all have our opinions Tim |

Not many on here will be winning Riddlers any time soon :) As for this Camaro I would say several on here are nicer but this one can be ordered over the phone and delivered in 8 months.. The demographics for this car are rich people that don't know much about cars but want a cool musclecar that they can impress thier friends with.. the Foose name on it just adds to the "exclusivity".. When you look at the car for what it is then it is a pretty nice car. My 69 could have beat this car at a show but my name is worth about a nickle and Fooses is worth about $50k ;) |
I think we should be happy that Pro-Touring build style cars are being made more common by companies like Unique Performance for building their turnkeys. Yeah there's PT Camaros that are nicer, but I think it's a great thing for the Pro-Touring movement that guys like Foose and Unique Performance are building these cars. It'll only get more press for this build style. C'mon let's not slam it, let's appreciate it for what it is and applaud these guys for helping to make Pro-Touring more mainstream to the masses who have never heard of it.
John |
just thumbing through that site, they have some sick car's.......wow
|
Pic I just found on PT.com. $100K+ and you can't go over a speed bump let alone drive it on most roads with that kind of ground clearance.
Mike http://www.uniqueperformance.com/images/camaro5.jpg |
Looks pretty nice form the rear(like some girls I know :unibrow: )But for 100k+ you sure can do lots of things. There is a market for it,im sure they did there research didn't they?

great, just what we need, now camaros are going to be even MORE overpriced and unattainable to the average guy. its going to be just like the elonore mustangs, every time i see one i have to shake my head. its nice to see something FRESH, and thats what the firs one is, but, it ends after that. might as well leave it stock in my eyes.
|
The car looks great from the rear. I really like the exhaust cut into into the rear panel. I think anything north of $100k is crazy. Has anyone thought of building cars similar to this in a simpler version for say $50K to $75K? I'm thinking of a clean car with some production type or standard components.
|
Remember that the Foose name attached to it add quite bit to the value.. It is just the way it is..
The body/paint work on the car looked very good and with the custom touches you would be hard pressed to have one built for yourself for less than $100k by any known shop. I imagine the ZZ572 and custom Hogan intake is almost $20k alone. Would I pay it? Maybe if I was Bill Gates rich but then again we are car guys that know what we are doing.. this car is more marketed tword wealthy people with lots of disposable income and want to be the new "bitchen guy on the block" when he rolls up in his instant gratification Foose car... It's not a bad thing.. the rich deserve to drive musclecars as well :) Johnny will be shooting the Foose car and the GT350 car soon (together).. Between the two I would rather have the GT350.. that thing is COOL.. |

Notice the cylinder that replaced the hood spring.

What I like about that cylinder Charley is it gets the stress off the hinge area of the hood. The factory springs and the other guys who've put those struts on put them in the stock spring location; after time it bends the hood where the two bolts go into the hood from the hinge. This looks like it wouldn't do that.

Hmmm, that is simple and slick....
|
I like the taillights too! :D

Our First Gen Camaro club here in Dallas has a tour set up with Unique in October. We then run our fall cruise from there.
I'll let you know how this thing looks up close! www.northtxcamaros.com Kel |
The tail lights go without saying. :D The front marker lights are next...
|
Glad to see they finally were able to get those tail lights. They told me they were trying to get in contact with them. Looks pretty good in person i think. Overpriced but still nice.
William |
Looks like a 4th gen hood strut. If I was paying $100K+ for one, the paint under the hood better be polished too. The second hood dtrut pic the orange looks like base only like some new factory cars do. Did they remove the original trim tag plate when they installed the Unique plate?
