Looks nice and straight Jody. I like it.

awr68 02-17-2008 10:04 AM

Looked at the pics again with fresh eyes this morning...got home from the R&C show VERY late last night! Boy he sure did a great job! The gaps look awesome and that is a killer color for showing off body lines! Nice choice! Can't go wrong with European colors! ;)

Is the engine bay body color? How about the bottom of the car?

I'm very happy for you!!

67turbostang 02-17-2008 10:28 AM

that color looks great  cant wait to see the car all together..

camcojb 02-17-2008 11:07 AM

Thanks guys. Tony, the engine bay, bottom of the car, dash, console, and tops of doors on the interior are all going a matt gray tone, similar to what Reactor used in their engine bay (Ring Bros car). Should work well with the new outside color.

Very cool!! :hail:

Steve1968LS2 02-17-2008 11:51 AM

Sweet..

Can't wait to see it with the wheels and all the goodies..

Mover 02-17-2008 04:39 PM

Nice looking car and it’s a twin turbo!:hail: Keep us posted on progress.

trapin 02-17-2008 04:42 PM

Very distinctive color you picked, Jody. I like it.

I agree, you don't want to go too dark with the wheels now that you've got a darker shade on the exterior. Although the 10 spoke wheels might look good in body color. Aside from that, maybe brushed aluminum.

Great car. It'll be turning heads real soon.

MODO Innovations 02-17-2008 04:56 PM

Looks great Jody. Keep up the good work.

formula98 02-17-2008 05:19 PM

Wow! Awesome paint work, I agree it really accentuates the lines of the car. Great job!

Jody...........Great Job!! Looking forward to seeing it in Memphis......Just a word of caution for when we get to Little Rock......Make sure you use the "Special" wax that has the RamAirDave protectant polymers in it.......You know, the kind that Charley now uses...................LOL

With that color I am thinking a set of (10) spoke ZX3Ps, Satin black centers, Diamond Cut Edges (HOTT, HOTT, HOTT!!!), with brushed lips and satin black inners. SMOKIN!

What brakes are you running? Red calipers would be cool, Silver calipers might match well behind the black wheels

Oh yeah, Congratulations getting over this huge hurdle.

Frank, I think you're a bit more progressive and modern-thinking than me............. :D Remember, I'm kinda old, and a bit low key. I do like the ten spoke ZX3P's, but maybe silver or grey centers with polished lips.

But can we talk about your choice in dogs? You have built some seriously mean cars, but I don't know if that pup is up for the challenging of protecting that assets haha!;) :D

Tim

The Germans bred those wiener dogs to hunt badgers. Little legs and long to go down the burrows and flush one of the meanest animals around. Only dog that has ever bit me (besides a back road rotty while cycling as a teen) was a little dachsund. Not really my style but I do dig those funny little dogs.

Oh and the paint color looks fantastic. Leaning towards something close to that one day.

Datsbad 02-17-2008 08:33 PM

Very badass Jody , You must feel great owning the baddest Chevelle around.
I really like those HRE wheels you had on it in the rendering.

Cant wait to see it this year on the PT.
Congrats again.

Thanks Jason. I think it'll be a cool car. Wouldn't call it the baddest Chevelle around, but I sure appreciate the sentiment!

Looking forward to Power Tour. Sounds like you'll have two there.

I have to admit that's one thing I'm not looking forward to either!

The color looks really nice.

After all of this talk about the wiener dog - you may want to consider buying one.

Just ship the car to Autokraft. :D Kurt and Paul did an awesome job with aligning my glass.

When does the car come home, Jody? I can't wait to see the motor in the car.

What's your ETA for the build? I'm sure you want a little shake down time before HRPT...basically when can I go for a ride? ;)

That's got to be the worst part...good for about a whole month's worth of cursing in one session...and a bunch of skinned knuckles...AND what makes it even more aggravating is that you know the people at the factory back in the day could do each side in about eight seconds..

Looks great Jody! I'm another one that can't wait to see that beast under the hood.

JohnnyGMachine 02-21-2008 06:41 AM

Hey Jody,

Nice choice on the color. The dark charcoal gray will give the car some more attitude for sure - or more "Malitude"?
Now this is just my 2 cents, The HREs are nice wheels but I think visually a thin multi-spoke wheel on this particular car might actually take a little agressiveness (is that a word?) away from the overall look. I won't type my opinion on TTs. BUT, however I do think a chunky 5-spoke would look good. I think you are also on the right track as far as a brighter wheel finish to help contrast the body color.
Something that might look real hot with your dark gray metallic exterior color might be some sort of fat lip billet wheel with a polished lip, and then finish off the spokes in a satin magnesium finish? Then maybe pick up some of that magnesium satin in the engine compartment and maybe the interior?

Thanks for the opinion John, and I agree. After the car was painted I've liked the 10 spoke look less and less, just been afraid to tell Scott and Frank.......... :faint: :D I like your idea.

Please stay with a standard lip on this car...

Matty B 02-21-2008 06:33 PM

I hate you!! It looks great and its also the same exact color my car WAS to be sprayed in  :( Oh well my second choice is Flint Mica on a Scion TC it is a little bluer and has a pretty big flake in it... PLEASE anybody building a high profile car dont use that color I dont wanna look like Im copying. Regardless the car looks awesome and is the quintessential pro-touring A body IMO and what any Malibu should be compared to:thumbsup:

I'm actually leaning towards copying Scott.......... :unibrow: well, I can't afford HRE, but Forgeline makes a nice split 5 spoke with silver or gray centers and polished lip that I really like.
