working on the glass and ElectricLife windows this weekend. Took a bit of time to get the stuff figured out as the car has been apart for a long time, and I completely gutted the glass and mechanisms.

Started by using B-Quiet on the inside of the door skins. What a huge difference in the sound of the metal when tapping on it now. Sounds like a late-model car compared to a tin can.

Then I took a couple shots of the side view of the car as it progresses. The vent windows and rear glass is in on both sides, heading out to install the final two door windows now. The color and wheels are really growing on me, may not need to spend a bunch of cash on modern wheels!

Looking great my friend!!
Who's doing the windshields?

BTW, the color looks great and the wheels are working!! Didn't you say you were having clearance issues with them though?

no clearance issues. The fronts needed an 1/8" spacer with the old spindles, but the AFX spindles cured that.

Jody , just a helpful hint.
Make sure that mat in the doors is good and tight. We have had many cars come back in the summer time with window assemblies stuck .
The heat lets the glue backing come loose and start to droop inside the doors and ends up jamming up the window assemblies.

CAR LOOKS GREAT !

wheels

I agree on the wheels- those are perfect for that car. Don't change 'em!

Way to keep it simple, Jody. No bling on that car, huh?

Jody,

I think I read in a prior post you were using an ATS pan? If so where are you mounting the remote oil filter? I know on the Camaro's they mount on inside frame horn, but on my Chevelle (69) there is not enough room as the core support and steering box will be in the way. I am a newbie and maybe it is nothing to worry about, but I was concerned if it was mounted higher that the oil would not flow uphill as well.

Thanks,

I have not got that far, but uphill isn't an issue as far as I've seen. I've numerous remote filters up on the fenderwells and firewalls without issue. I would guess you could use a filter that has the one way flapper so it would stay full of oil to help even more.

Thanks, I will just mount it up by fenderwells

been working on the exhaust until my glass shows up. Fortunately I can re-use everything Mark and Stainless Works built other than the down-pipe from the turbos. I wanted to get the exhaust on so I can find someone to fab my downpipes before I put the front sheetmetal on the car. Here's a few pics, I'll get better ones later. It's a snug fit around the upper control arms and coil springs.

Next up is the stainless tank and plumbing the engine.

Jody,
The color looks :wow: . What bedliner product did you use on the underside?

I used Raptor Liner. But I've seen a couple others, and in the bed liners many appear to be virtually identical.

well, get to work! :D Actually, I was lazy the past few months and am paying for it now. I had all the time the car was in the paint shop to get all these parts cleaned, decide what was fine and what needed to be replaced, order the parts to be replaced, etc. But no, I didn't feel like it........... So now, it's really slowing me down getting this thing back together.

Jody

awr68 03-06-2008 05:06 PM

I may go to the show, but have no plans to bring the car. Thanks for the offer.

It looks great Jody,

What a craftmanship there is on that car. All those supernice brackets and welds all over the exhaustsystem is art in it self. :hail:

It must be fun to get a car like that and make it even more perfect.

You will soon go for a testdrive I am sure.

Is that a 3" exhaust? It looks great and fits good. You are doing a great job. I wish that I could install parts that fast :D
