Finally got the passenger side header done. It has a slightly different design than the drivers side header. The reason for that is because there is less room on the passenger side because of the starter. It made it more difficult to design but a little easier to build. I still have to finish welding the primaries to the flanges but needed a little brake first. Anyways here is some pics and hopefully tonight or tomorrow i can get the rest of the exhaust built underneath the cab.

They look great! You will be very happy you decided to build them!

Sick headers! Those things are sexy

I dont know if you changed it or have used Viairs before but they dont like being on their side like that. It can wear out the piston prematurely.

Looks awesome overall though, Id love to build a C10 someday

actually even though I thought the same thing about them, ViAir reccomends right side up or sideways, not upside down. Compressors die from heat and when the head is upside down it's hard for the heat to escape. Side ways is much better than upside down, but of course right side up is the best.

Well i finally got time to take the frame off the frame jig and get it outside. I wanted to see how everything looked and I had to replace the rear end with a pre 69 so my wheels would fit in the bed. Everything lined up perfect. Wheels are centered in both front and rear fenders, all of my bed mounts were really easy to line up and bolt together. I am stoked. Now i was going to figure out how i am going to run the rest of the exhaust. I am hoping to make a custom exhaust fitting that matches the contour of the rear roll pan. I also remade the gas tank and this time i ran the solid alluminum bracing all the way from side to side. Much stronger overall. I still have to weld the top cover part to the gas tank but left it unwelded until I figure out a clean way to run the electrical into the tank for the pump.

Well if i keep having to work the hours that i have been i will see you in about 4 1/2 to 5 years:D :willy: . I can only imagine how i am going to feel when i get to drive it. I think i am more excited to drive it before i take it all apart and powercoat/paint things.

Well i finally got something done on my truck. I was hoping to move the truck to the shop but because of the weather i couldn't do it. So i built some alluminum valve covers for the truck. I am pretty happy with the overall turnout. I do wish that i had a little more steady of a hand because those long straights were a litte tough to get a consistant looking weld. I had a lot of fun building them. I still have to build the splash gaurds for the PCV and weld on the bungs for the PCV. I read that alot of people use an-10 for the pcv but was curious if it would be bad to us an-8 instead. I am going to buy a 1/2" tubing bender for all my fuel lines and would be nice not have to buy a 5/8 just for the PCV. Anyways here are some pics

Well I have been working with Carter Hickman on doing a rendering and he nailed it!!!! I wish i would have done this earlier because it totally motivates me to get some stuff done! I am hoping Carter will do a rendering of the upholstery and dash but here is what i got for now. What do you all think? It kind of gives me that aggressive but still classy feel. I used the expression to my dad as "It has the feel of the kid who steals your lunch money but you don't mind giving it to him because he's so bad a$$".

Nice build! Carter rocked it on your rendering, thats an awesome look! Can't wait to see more progress!

abadsvt 03-25-2009 06:31 PM

Thanks guys! Here is another rendering he did but in red instead of the blue. What one do you guys like better? I can't wait to start working on it again. I have almost enough money to buy the bead roller i want to start on the sheetmetal. Hopefully next week or the following I can order it. Later

agree! Unless you are looking to sale...then red is a better choice.

dmc69 03-26-2009 06:51 PM

red, red, red, red, red!

dmc69 03-26-2009 06:52 PM

whichever color you choose its gonna be sick!

slamdimpala 03-26-2009 07:13 PM

I think that the red one is bad a$$. I like the blue one but i like the red one so much more.

Aschle 03-26-2009 09:10 PM

Blue has always been my favorite color, but the red would be my choice ! I am likely going to paint my 69' Camaro red with white stripes... many years from now...

Jason

fesler 03-26-2009 09:30 PM

I actually do have a truck like this or a few for that matter and think red is the way to go but with your build it will be very similar to my truck and the blue one would be one all on its own.

Sick as hell man!!!! RED ALL DAY LONG. Love your Red truck Chris.

skatinjay27 03-27-2009 02:51 AM

if its the same exact shade as the rendering i say BLUE!!!!!!!!
the blue is sick as hexx.

the red looks awesome but red used alot for those trucks... just off the top of my head when i saw that rendering i thought of feslers truck^^^
and the marquez design one also. you rarely see blue c10s done. pt/pro-street/resto/lowrider/ plenty of them red...

Porterbuilt 03-28-2009 11:35 PM

I say stick with the blue Josh!

Pro Rides 04-01-2009 08:28 AM

I agree with Mr. Porterbuilt and Mr. Pro Rides...... BLUE. The blue is Carter's rendering is nice.

Hey Porterbuilt: It was great having dinner with you and Carter after the Grand National Roadster Show!!!!

Paint it BLUE. There are enough red cars/trucks out there already!! Don't get me wrong - red looks good and always will. It's kinda like 17" torque thrusts - it will always be accepted - just be nice to see something thing different!!

abadsvt 04-01-2009 12:08 PM

Thanks for the help guys! Yeah when i first saw the blue i was in love. I have painted a motorcycle years ago that color and i was amazed by how much of the pearl show but its not overwelming like some. I agree that red will always be an option but the blue just looks more agressive than the red. Thats just my opinion though. Again thanks guys!!!

Josh

GMracer 04-01-2009 03:36 PM

Since I came across a picture of baby blue c10 I knew I had to have one, simple stock exterior but a light blue.
So again, even though I voted :_paranoid BLUE
