Who is your fabricator? I have gone to Psca every race this year. I may know your fabricator.

Wow small world. I know Matt. I saw him wreck a few weeks back. We were doing a burn out when he went "KABOOM". That was totally scary.
So is he fabbing on your car or is he a fabricator for your business? I did not think he was an automotive fabricator. I thought he did air compressor stuff. Small world, I'm the really tall Rodger , that works with Roger on his 70 nova. There are like 4 rogers everytime we go to the races it seems. |

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Progress as been slow. Anyway we got the LS7 motor running. Should be drivable in about two weeks. I will post a walk around video on you tube hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks Doug |
Wow! Killer car.
|
Very nice car, AME designed a sweet frame, very clean looks on the IRS frame rail set up. Did you add in later the A arm mounts, the set up looks similar to Jakes front clip. Very tastefully done!

Yes wayne due did do the frame but it was not correct. The front end geometry was wrong and we had to make new upper a arms. He chose a cobra r 3rd member which was almost impossible to get the half shafts for. In addition there was no way to remove the third member so we had to do some more re-fabrication. Bottom line is I was not happy for the price I paid.
Hopefully everything is fixed and we will find out in a couple of weeks. Doug |
Wow I can't wait to see update pics of this car. It sure was inspirational.
|
def a neat car, its been my desktop background for the past 4 months LOL, i use it as motivation to get to work on mine!!
 |
Thanks guys it's been a long road with several obstacles. One being a 5 1/2 year divorce. Being in construction and dealing with a slow economy hasn't helped. The real hurdle has been that everything is one off on the car. We had to do everything custom. In addition to the video I will try and take some close up photos.

Hey Doug,
Since you aren't all that busy, can you hurry it up a little? Seriously, WE are all looking forward to seeing more of your awesome ride. --Eric |

Doug,
Looks great. Really great! Question: can you get the rear wheels off without have to unbolt the rear suspension and/or driveline? I could, but just barely. I remember clearly when I tried it for the first time. :) jp |

Since it's independent rear the driveline doesn't need to be removed. But the shocks have to be taken off so the a-arms can drop down to get the tires off. I'm debating doing a front tilt hood because the way we have the current hood hinges I don't like them. The tires come so far up in the engine bay we couldn't use a stock hinge. Doug |
I made my hood open in reverse for that exact reason. My method was based on some BMW 3-series parts.

Awsome Doug!! One question ,are you going to lengthen the rear wheel well opening?? The stance is KILLER!!
|
Quote:
We have about another inch and half that we could lower the car but we are going to do the test drive setup the way it is. Yes, I like the stance too! Doug |
Trying to post a video but not sure how. If anybody knows how let me know.

Good call Doom. I haven't focused much on the body aspects of the car because we have been trying to get it running. But I remember now seeing the wheel well mod done by a few other 66 nova owners and yes you are right it looks good if done right. Right now I'm trying to figure out all the interior styling, dash layout and gauges. I am also going to start focusing on the exterior too. Doug |
Doug....
I've done this a few times on Novas. 18" wheels fit perfect. I'm currently building a Nova with 19's and I think this is max with the stock openings. Attached are pics of what we've done when running 20's. I basically got a fender opening patch panel and split it in half. I widened the opening 2" foward and 2" backward for a total of 4". I also got a rear sail patch panel and used it to "pie" cut the quarter so it matches up and the bottom. Hope this helps. |
