Mike is one of the nicest guys you would ever hope to meet..and we have a great friendship because of this site, and these cars (we live close too, that helps!)....His car is an inspiration to "do-it-yourselfers", he bought a welder and went to work with really no prior experience. Loads of work and man hours, many "lessons learned", a patient and forgiving wife and a skillful mentor in his father have transformed this car into something to be proud of...I can't wait to see it finished... Great Job!

wow, that is an awesome build. And honestly, I thought that you were a builder. Well you are but I thought you were a professional builder. :_paranoid I thought you had done something like this before. I am truly inspired. And when I send you too many PMs about my quarters, just say so. Thanks for being an inspiration to the DIYers. I wish I would have met you before I sent me car to the deadbeat bodyman.

Here are a few updates guys. We put the front suspension together and dropped in the engine for a trial fit. Since it was such a nice day, I decided to push it outside and take a few pictures.

Nice work Mike, good thing you went whit different wheels or people might think we are spying on each other

67rstbkt 05-29-2009 10:13 AM

Wow, looks great. I'm putting together a 67 Firebird in my garage and it looks just like your starting pics. I hope I can get it together as well as you are. I can't wait to see the finished project

Daz 06-05-2009 12:51 AM

Suscribed ! Man I hope my 67' RS turns out as nice as yours is turning out. I'll be going with a built LQ4/9 or LS2 mated to a t56 with either a 12bolt or C4 IRS(if I can find a kit or someone to build me a kit).

XLexusTech 06-05-2009 06:19 AM

Mike where did you get the mounts used for that coilover fit? It seems like a simple yet effective way of doing this conversion. So simple I have to wonder why the other kits are not this simple?

Nice job and really cool to see a father and son working on a project like this!

Thanks, I'm sure you will get together just fine. Take your time and it will happen.

How about posting up some pics if you haven't already

Mike
