Another check mark on the new "Todd's must-have parts list" So, what do I need next Todd? :D Quote:
|
Dave,
Is this something like this shade finish under consideration for your wheels? http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k1...s/DSC05888.jpg |
Quote:
I have considered it, but I think I will end up with matte black centers with a custom shade of brushed/cleared hoop. :) |
I agree that wouldn't go well with your paint.:D
|

So you're saying there's a chance! |

I was pretty close to getting in that Rushforth GP, but I couldn't sell my wheels and didn't want to take a huge loss on them. I like them, I just need to have them finished in exactly what I want. Agree with Vegas - I like the smoked titanium but don't think it would mess well with my paint color. |
Quote:

To clarify I realize the titanium doesn't fit your paint scheme. I would never promote color clashing on a nearly civilized forum! ;)
I meant to convey the same wheels in a complimentary color to your paint, no darker than the Rushforth titanium. Or just swap your '68 for one with paint that goes with those Rushforths. :P |
naw if you treat the porsche to the fine taste of HRE's its only fair vertigo get the same luxuary of HRE's lol

I do like those particular, but then again, I like a ton of 5 star designs. It's tough with the wheel selection with so many great options... Trade + cash for my 68... now there's an idea! :willy: Quote:

Dave,
Now that we've helped you resolve the wheel color confusion someone created... :_paranoid, I hope myself and others here choose to follow your example of well thought out and inclusive posts. :D |
well either way the porsche look amazing with those wheels... it really changed the look of the car. i never thought to even click the link till someone mentioned selling that instead of the camaro... i love porsches!
you know who else is a serious porsche tyler (ats) he even has a huge banner of one in his shop... i think its the biggest on on the wall lol |

Yeah Tyler and I actually chatted about Porsches when I was considering taking the Camaro to him. And I've seen that poster on his wall in some shop picture! |
Sell the Porsche?
Now there's an idea! Shoot, then we could really do some trick stuff to the Camaro, eh Dave?:unibrow:
I'm sure Todd's not the only one on here that could help you spend your $$$. By the way, tell him that you should be keeping your legs for awhile, the Scattershield has been installed....THX Troy. As far as me being your GUY, I'll have to let my wife talk to you about that. I too may hail from SF, but we don't all have to live by the mantra: "when in Rome..." :_paranoid |
So your the GUY... Sounds good Troy. I'm horrible at sticking to a budget so you better lock me out of this thread. :D

I getta get out of San Francisco!! And Hey Mr. Gearhead, you're the one who lived in the Castro when you were here, right? Quote:
|
Not to change the subject, but your build must be influencing someone. They've taken a few of your design cues (69 taillights on a 67/8) for a Grumpy Jenkins tribute 67 in the newest issue of Chevy Rumble.
|
I also saw a 67-8 Camaro with the '69 lights mounted inversely/upside down in print or online the other day- can't remember where!? Looked pretty cool.
And no, Dave....I lived in the Mission like you do now, but it wasn't so gentrified then! Quote:

Yeah I know you were in the mission. Bet it was a little dicier back then! ;) |
'69 tails on a '68 Camaro
Aha...found it! Look at Jim Johnson's '68 Camaro on the Lat-G homepage. He's running '69 lights, upside-down,on a '68 Camaro. His car is the red one w/flares, sitting in the snow.
You gotta get up real early in the morning to be the 1st to try anything on a 1st gen Camaro. Pretty much EVERYTHING is a variation on a theme. Long ago, we discovered that the wheel was round...we're still trying to make it cooler, sleeker, faster, right? :lateral: |
|
Thanks for posting, Skip. I spend quite a long time looking for that Camaro on the homepage before I found it!
Looks pretty cool, but I still like my setup better. ;) |
Quote:
I think with virtually round the clock thread coverage we can cause your car to be finished as much as a day early.:D It's only fitting the Vertigo Camaro has those '69 taillights right side up.;) |
That car is cool but I would have put them in there right side up.

That car is my new background!

Updated pics. Spoiler and front end on. Carpet and front seats installed.

Looking good! What's next on the list? Have they addressed the dash issues yet?
|
Lookin good.

Bad ass man...those tires and tail lights look pimp:D

Dropped of a few parts @ Gearhead yesterday and snapped a few pics. The more I see it getting closer to completion, the more I think I won't be able to sell it even if I have a good offer in hand.
Ring Bros hood hinges are sweet http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...8/DSCF2421.jpg so are the Twist Machine fender braces http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...8/DSCF2422.jpg I love the industrial look of the Twist Machine shifter http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...8/DSCF2419.jpg I just liked this pic of the throttle body staring at me :D http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...8/DSCF2417.jpg |
Looks great.
I'm still waiting for my twist shifter as well. From the pics, is your ididit rusting out? |
Quote:
Yeah I saw that too in the pic, but I don't remember it looking like that in person so it must be the camera. It better be! :_paranoid |
Progress!!
Time to repair the dash, paint a few things, and go for a drive!! Yeah.....you need to keep her!! ;) |
Quote:
They are gonna get the motor running without the procharger here soon and get her moving around so exhaust, alignment and stuff can get done while we work on the dash fiasco. I gotta find me a stock dash panel and apparently this isn't the easiest thing to find! I love paying a bunch just to GO BACK to where I was before the hacking of the dash started. |

Thanks, and there still may be some "extra paint" going on at the end... ;) |
Is the column stainless or has it just not been painted yet? It sure looks like surface rust to me......
