DOUG COOPER
just put thuis up on PT I just got off the phone with Travis. Kenny had just woken up and started talking... one of the first things he asked was how the crawler he turned over was? asked for his daughter... and was just carrying on [a conversation] as normal. that's great news! The doctors biggest concerns associated with the head injury are, additional swelling of the brain and infection. They had to rebuild one of his eye sockets and he isn't able to open that eye at this time. The doctors felt he would have his vision in that eye. He was also able to move all his LIMBS! They are doing another cat scan later today I will keep you informed. |

Kenny's a great guy and we're all pullin' for him. I went back through the archives and found our '07 radio and video interviews with him while the KDHR team was building the ZL1 Camaro for SEMA... for those who have never met the man, you can get a feel for his genuine enthusiasm and talent in these stories. We pray for a speedy and full recovery.

Very sad news! It is good to hear that he is awake and knows where he is.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Kenny, family, and crew. Was there anyone else in the crawler? |
OMG, wow, that's awful news but sounds like things are starting to look a little brighter....relatively speaking. We wish he and his fam all the best and we'll keep him in our thoughts!

A post from someone that was there when the accident happened...
"There was a group of us playing/warming up the rigs at Disney below the west dam and Kenny’s rig developed a vacuum leak. At that time he and another buddy jumped in someone else’s buggy (Kenny Driving) to run to napa to get a part. They were going at very slow speed and not crawling in the sense of the word. At the time of the roll we were down in the bottom by the rock garden and did not see it happen, I don’t think anyone did. I am sure Kenny did not think he needed his belt as he was in a very well built rig and just going from a to b. It took about 20 min for the local ambulance to arrive and another 30 of so for life flight. All things considered the doctors have been optimistic from the beginning and he was talking right up until the time he went to the OR. Actually he yelled, in true KD fashion, that he was going to be fine and not to worry. Kenny has only been into crawling for a short time, but has already brought a lot to the sport. He is very proud of the Campbell buggy he rebuilt and has done some great work on all of our rigs. He is one of those guys that doesn’t know a stranger and gets along with everyone, better be able to take a joke!! He is one of a kind!! I am sure Kenny would tell us all to buckle in no matter what so let’s try to keep the vibe positive in this thread. I will be going to Tulsa every chance I get till he comes home so I will take all your prayers and well washings to Kenny and his family. On their behalf thank you for the support." http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showt...=1#post9100941 |
Which hospital in Tulsa is he in Marty? I may go try and see him since I am not far away and know I can get in.

I just called Travis and he was in the room and put me on speakerphone with Kenny. He was groggy but very aware, cognitive and positive.
Here's the hospital address to send him whatever you think a guy stuck in the hospital for 3 weeks might need. Cards, magazines, books, flowers for his wife to look at since she'll be there too, books, candy, etc. St John Hospital 1923 South Utica Tulsa, OK 74104 We're all thinking about you, Brother... |
It's been a while since I've been here but I am sorry to hear about Kenny. Our prayers go out to him and his family.

Hey everybody first let me tell you all thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Those of you that have called and have talked thanks a ton. We are all doing as good as expected and kenny is doing awesome. I'm here at the hospital now and he just got his neckbrace off and is in very good spirits considering the situation. We should know later today if there is anymore internal bleeding but all looks really really good at this time. Once again thanks to everyone. If any of our close friends would like to call me I have no problem with that. My cell is 479-426-3462 also if you would like to send things it may be easier if you sent them to me and I can bring them over here. My address is

Travis
Travis,
I know this might be more on a personal note. But since you are so close to Kenny Id figure Id ask. Is he set on insurance coverage or maybe we can set up some type of fund donation for his out of pocket costs. Please let me know I would like to help in any way. Dave |
Great News! I'm sure he has a long recovery, but any accident this bad that you can survive is sure better than the alternative.
Will keep the positive vibe going and we're looking forward to more positive news... And a word to everyone.. buckle up EVERY time, we need every member of this community that we have! |
Talking to Travis right now and the very latest catscans revealed that he's healing really well and the fluid is draining, swelling is going down, no bleeding and the doctors are truly surprised and optimistic at how good the scans look and say he'll be out of the ICU this week. Not even close to out of the hospital but out of the ICU which is a big step, so keep the love coming!

Wow. I'm really glad to hear that Kenny is doing better. I read this when I got up this morning and have had him on my mind all day long with prayers going out. I know Kenny doesn't know me, let alone heard of me, but I really don't like seeing things like this happening to really good people. He'll be in my prayers and thoughts. I hope he's back up and running soon.
|
I have never met him; but he seems to be a very strong and blessed individual. Our prayers will continue to be with him, his family, and his friends.
Keep us updated if a fund gets started to help with out of pocket expenses. |
Thanks for the updates guys! He's been on my mind all day and it's nice to hear that he's doing so well. Long road ahead but Kenny is strong and should do fine...and he has lots of good friends and family behind him!
|
Just catching up on this. Posted at PT also
Oh Wow, I traveled all day today so I missed the thread. but am kind of glad I got to get to this part without waitng through the day. Kenny is a real cool cat. One of my favorite guys in the business. Why is it everything we love is so damn dangerous! Get well man. |
Tracy, let me know when you are going to see Kenny and maybe I can meet you there.
Travis, let me know if there is anything I can do, I am only a short drive away. |
Kelle and I were pondering what can be done to help the situation from the outside. I googled the area around the hospital and found a bunch of restaurants and a shopping center down the street. Kenny's getting taken care of in the hospital, but it's also going to be hard on the family and visitors while he's there. Angie is able to stay on-site, but they do live well over an hour away from the hospital.
So after talking to Travis about it, we came up with a plan to use PayPal to help with daily expenses, gas, meals, magazines for Kenny... anything they need. To contribute, go to PayPal and send any amount you'd like to Travis' email address: [email protected] He'll make sure the Davis family gets the donations. Travis also said Kenny is already bored, and Kenny said "my head hurts!" He's also potentially got a broken big toe, but the rest has all been posted here. Hopefully Kenny's head heals fast and he's able to get home for the holidays. - KO |
Get well soon
|
Whoa! I am sorry to hear,My thoughts and prayers are with Kenny and his family at this time of need. Brandon
|
As I mention prior on donations going somewhere to help out with funds?
What if you dont have pay pal? Dave |
