No blue accents are being planned today...maybe tomorrow.
here are the quarter vents as of yesterday. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC00907.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC00906.jpg As you can tell Brad aka brotourer is a pretty (b)rolific fabricator cranking out chin spoilers side vents and maybe even a little exhaust fitting/fabbing http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...DSC_0883-1.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC00908.jpg Matt |

Just a little update from this past week, first, the side vents were pretty much finished up
http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0929.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0927.jpg After that, the Anvil rear spoiler received a bit of trimming to fit the aftermarket quarters. Once the rear decklid is fit everything should line up perfectly. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0926.jpg Finally, my dad, Steve, decided that the faux carbon fiber, stock intake manifold just wasn't complementing and finishing off the car the way he'd imagined, so it got replaced with one of these: http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0930.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0933.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0937.jpg I cannot say enough about how awesome Jeff's manifold is :hail: . It looks so cool on the floor, I can't wait to see it fitted up. Matt |
Very cool Matt.
LOVE the side vents! The rear tail and intake look awesome as well. |
Love the build , I have got my eye on this one.

anyways, after many many sleepless nights and brainstorming sessions around the shop i believe we have a fitting "project name" for your car(seeing as how every single pro touring car in history has a project name) ladies and gentlemen i present to you the offcial name........(drum roll please) Matt's 1969 Chevy Camaro now will be forever called "project BUSINESS AND PLEASURE" love always, your favorite fabricator b(r)ad penny ps...to everyone, please don't take my posts seriously we are just having fun. |

A couple days ago we decided we wanted to make a thrash for SEMA, and luckily for us, Dick agreed to the idea, so the car will be coming together really quickly from here on. Recaro Style seats are on the way. Seat brackets arrived today, I'm surprised they fit since they were labeled for, well...just look http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0948.jpg Also in the past couple of weeks a rollcage from DSE went in, the front sheetmetal and doors were gapped and the bumpers were cleaned up and sent to get chromed. http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0945.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0939.jpg Oh and in a totally unrelated side note, we've been discussing bros, their white sunglasses and their sticker clad pick up trucks over at the shop. I did some thinking and decided our fabricator, and resident bro, Brad, aka brotourer should create a website dedicated to the brosification of automobiles, maybe call it bro-touring.com http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...sc00e95424.jpg Matt |
What the hell is a Chevy Cameron??? (see seat track pic)... lol
|
So this past week may not look like a lot happened with only four or five photos, but it was a busy one for the whole crew at the shop. Dick finally managed to get the front end all lined up. I knew repop sheet metal was known for having problems, but I never realized how much work it would take to get all of the various original and aftermarket parts to fit. Finally, the front got its first bit of primer.
http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0958.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0962.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0963.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0964.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0967.jpg Sitting outside it actually looks kinda cool in its splotchy blue guide coat. Too bad the blue will all be gone forever, unless the jokes on me and I pull up to the shop one day only to find the car blue. Oh and a thanks goes out to Frank at Prodigy for getting one of his radiators, and such out to us right away. Frank told me I was going to know my credit card number by heart by November, and he wasn't kidding. After ordering a steering wheel, hood pins, gauges, trunk latch, mirrors, ISIS harness, and other little things, I've almost got my card memorized, and its still August. Oh and special points go out to anyone that can identify the mysterious "brotourer." Matt |

By SEMA you should really know the "joy" of the SEMA "crunch".. it's oh so fun.. lol Looks great. So you painted the front CF header panel? Hmmm... did you ever pick a dang color combo? (hoping for the grey/blue deal).. |
Yeah, actually all of the carbon fiber parts except the raised cowl part of the hood are getting painted. I picked up the cowl panel so no one would have to spend hours prepping and color sanding the vent grills. Then, since naturally the header panel wouldn't fit, I decided to pick up an Anvil one as well. At this point it would need to be painted even if it wasn't in the plan since it cracked and had to be patched due to the stress of the fenders and core support not wanting to fit.
Oh and I've actually been thinking that the identity of the brotourer might have to wait til our car is done, to be revealed, since there could be untold consequences for outing him. Matt |
Very cool Matt. Can't wait to see what color/colors you go with.
|
very cool 69
Sits perfectly  |
oh stevie stevestien you know good and well who the "brotourer" is...the one you need to watch out for is that "b(r)ad penny" guy...i heard hes a real piece of stinky poo poo
anyways. long story short. matt's car is going to get painted grey/blue. the end. see ya at sema. |
ps. who are the losers in picture #4...geeez matt! next time make sure to yell "get outta the shot" before pullin the trigger.

The guys have been busy as hell so far this week. The car got blocked out and received another coat of primer, http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0968.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0969.jpg So I got news today that Recaro won't be shipping out our seats until, 9/1 which kinda sucks since I ordered them back in mid/late June. Anyone have any ideas on how to finish up the cage without the seats, so it can get powdercoated. The car is supposed to go off for its interior in September, and I doubt anyone would want to do any welding on it with its finished interior. Would a removable clamp type crossbar work? Steve, don't you have one in Penny now? |
What seat do you need? Campbell auto has quite a few Recaro display seats. I might see them this weekend and could borrow or rent it from them if you need. I'm closer to you then they are. I will have room to haul the seat to Bakertucky....
If you TIG weld the cross bar in it should not be a BIG DEAL, to do later. The TIG only sparks when your doing it wrong Just putting that out there. Rodger |
its not welding in the harness bar that is the problem, its welding the cage to the floor plates with the carpet in haha. and yes it will be tig welded this isnt amateur hour
it looks like matt is going to get to hear me say my favorite words..."why wasnt this done before the car was painted" bro it up bro it out, brotourer |
Hey Rodger,
Thanks for offering to lend us a hand, but I think we'll be ok. We pretty much came to an agreement that the Air Ride Tiger cage clamps for the cross bar would allow us to powder coat the cage, and get everything welded in without having do to too much touch up or anything later. The Brotourer would have to make sure that the clamps and everything would fit, but that shouldn't be much of a problem, seeing as a certain someone has a plethora of parts tucked into every corner of the shop. In fact I know there's a Tiger Cage somewhere... We've also decided to change the color of the car to something not grey. Matt |
Matt its looking good!! Love the ride hieght its perfect.. Can't wait to see color...:lateral:
|
purple purple purple!
ps. purple purple purple! i may be on to something here. |

The color is actually even called Amethyst RED, (for everyone in internet land, who hasn't seen it, it is the left half of the sample hood, if you're facing the hood from the front). http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0975.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0976.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0977.jpg http://i366.photobucket.com/albums/o...A/DSC_0973.jpg Matt |

J/K.. Penny is off in Illinois right now or you could borrow them. Dimensions for the seats is on the Recaro website if that helps. |
Why are you putting purple stripes on your car???
After all.. you KNOW it would look better with blue as an accent color.. :unibrow: |
Steve, the spray out color would get really lost as a stripe on that dark grey, which means we're not talking purple stripes these days, oh no, we're talking a purple car:unibrow:
If the color weren't called Amethyst Red, I'd have to admit that Brad was right, and its purple |

Hey, in Brad's defense the wall is more about quality than quantity. After all, it has the the thank you note from Jon Lindstrom, yes the only one known to be in existence.
I still do like the grey and blue though, and admit it looked the best of the bunch, especially with the little bit of blue in the alloy grey. I love subtle, and this purple (okay I said it) is still pretty subtle. This was the photo that made me change my mind about purple. http://www.autoblog.com/gallery/quic...-volante-0/med I think I'll be able to live with the jokes, if not I can help keep Best of Show in business by having it repainted |
