I said it before and have to say it again, you have amazing welding skills:thumbsup:

Beautiful!! Post pics of your setup and shop!! Who taught you your technique? I love to see more of the younger crowd do such great work!
Oh and *subscribed* |

I taught my self my own technique on tig and for mig i own Nate at PorterbBuiltStreetRods a liitle Thanks for showing me some good techniques... My work ethics and craftsmanship come from my Dad who is a phenomenal carpenter and had me helping him do wood working at 12yrs old and from that i had my own little side jobs cutting out pine wood on the scroll saw for a tole painting class.... Then when i turned 16teen and bought my first truck the 2000 Tacoma you see here it was just trial and error, or learning and progressing from my mistakes..I've redone this truck so many time over the year because i keep learning new thing but it time to get this thing done and sale it and start a new and better project like a 63 unibody ford and a square body blazer |
Well here some of my tools i have
http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...a101/HD095.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...a101/HD096.jpg And i just built this prototype bead roller just waiting for my motor First drew it in soildworks http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...ler/assem1.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...Picture016.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...Picture014.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...Picture008.jpg |
LOL, your secret is safe with me.... the color on the handle gave it away....:P
So what machine did you use to make those purdy tig welds. Listen, not to lust or anything, but yeah those welds are sexy! What really makes them stand out is when you go around the corners and nothing changes. Keep it up! |

I'd like to compare the welding which is shown in this thread -- to the welds on my 37 Ford... bought by the way - as a complete "RE DO" project... the new frame is in the trailer as I write!

Ya think? I was thinking - that whomever welded this.. should have laid down the equipment - stood back and said to himself... "Self! I think maybe I should call one of my buddies that can actually weld". To top this off - the dumbass continued to complete the car! Oh well - it drives so poorly that he decided to sell it at a big loss -- so guess there's an upside to it cause now I own it!! LOL |

Welds
Dude, it looks like a machine did the welds.
|
All welds are done by a machine:lol:

Those welds look like ass. I am so glad you are not actually driving that car on a regular basis and have a new chassis for it. That is a huge accident waiting to happen.:wow: I have seen this car in person, the rest of it looks just as bad underneath. I can't believe someone thought that was a good way to build a car. That guy needs his tools taken away forever. |
Quote:
I like your idea of taking his tools away. I'm thinking "for life" as the guy is too stupid to ever learn... LOL PS -- before I ever dropped the car off the lift - I took out some of my die grinders and cut all the suspension welds out -- to call them welds is just WRONG - and hit them with my MIG machine.... I did NOT try to weld over this crap. That is impossible to do so cut them out first. I didn't do the motor mounts - can't get to those without pulling the motor... so each time I drive it - I worry that the motor will fall onto the ground.... EEEEEEEEEEEEEHHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA |
just wanted to compliment you on those welds
|
Whoever said that metal in the right hands can be art, I agree. I have never welded and I fully intend to take some classes and learn one day, but I do know that the work you have shown in this thread is top notch (to say the least). Keep posting pics as you progress.

Those are truly inspiring welds.....That makes me really want to step up my welding. Nice job man....

Looks like they used a car battery and some coat hanger rod!!!! I want to give kudos to the welder on this thread.....Brother, you are a true artist! |
[QUOTE=dwfastcam;234037]Ha Ha, wow,
Looks like they used a car battery and some coat hanger rod!!!! DW -- I used to weld back in high school (well, I still weld) but back in the day we 'stick welded' every thing... even when I was a freshman in HS I could weld better than the crap on my chassis. The originator of this thread however... can weld with his eyes closed - one hand behind his back - and hanging upside down from the Empire State building I think! They are without a doubt the most beautiful little stacks I've ever seen. |

I will also have to agree that the originator of this thread, Brooks is the best welder that I have ever seen. I am no stranger to welding, I learned on a little mig, have done a little tig, and now I run a LN-25 .068 wire, and have learned to stick as an H.D.R welder for heavy equiptment. This thread is truly inspirational for the art of welding and fabrication, and I can only hope that in time, to be half as good with a tig as Brooks. I apologize for poking fun at the welds that you found on your ride, I understand that you did not weld them. |

No apologies required - If I didn't expect them (the pictures of the really, really BAD welding) to be made fun of - I would have never posted them. To the contrary - I posted them for that very reason! |
Thanks guys for all the great comments.. ... Keeps me motivated as well
|
Wow dude....you got some skills!:unibrow:

Okay - so here's the "deal" --- you need to make a VIDEO of your technique and post it so the rest of us might have a chance (yeah right!) at being 1/3rd as good... I'm serious -- I'd love to be able to observe your technique - 'cause you got it down buddy! :woot: |
He is some more random stuff that i've done don't want to start more threads on all of them...
Sand car i'm doing for trade work on my back yard Start of it waiting for dzus fastener to finish the dash and console http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...Picture012.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...90830-1336.jpg RZR cages first one stock plastics and the other one full bore http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...a101/rzr/5.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...a101/rzr/4.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...a101/rzr/3.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...90402-1133.jpg http://i53.photobucket.com/albums/g5...90415-0614.jpg |

Awesome work man. Looks really good.
|
I just walked in from the "shed" - where I held the torch to my head for an hour or so... but I just couldn't step on the trigger. I would have, but it would have been just one more "mess" rather than the perfect little coins you're laying out....
LOL  Man.... I am so in awe! :hail: :hail: |
Some can walk the dog -- but you can really walk the cup!
There's a couple of videos on YouTube where a guy is TIG welding a rather large stainless "tube" to a flange of some kind -- and he walks the cup all the way around this bad boy without stopping... and this guy is laying down some seriously nice stuff. No carpal tunnel there buddy! LOL |
Okay - took me some time.. but I found the YouTube video of this guy walking the cup... It starts out boring - but if you like welding - you'll watch to the end when he shows you the results...
