Doesn't really matter what color, she's still going to be killer!
But, I do like the new color as well. |
The car is coming outside this weekend and getting blown apart. I have had enough of lifes little interuptions and am going to get with the program now. I am determined to get this going. Finally! Pictures to follow.
Unless it rains, or is too hot, or I have to do the "honey do" list, or I have to mow the lawn, ......Yeah right. All that crap can wait. It's time for some serious bonding with my car my tools and my garage!! My tools are getting way too dusty from lack of use! Besides, the lawn is dead. It would only take one match to make it a non issue till next year. |
That a boy!!

Pictures of the heap. You can see some of the rust issues. But really not too bad overall. It will get new full quarters, roof panel, tail panel, fenders, hood, trunk lid and some floor pan work. I want to do it right and since I have most of the replacement parts already (came with the car) I might as well use them. The quarters I have are not the full size version so I will have to buy those still.

A few more pics for your enjoyment.
Please keep in mind I did not do any of the "repairs" you see. I bought the car already stripped of paint and with the interior still in it. The drivetrain was also still in it. I am kind of irritated they left the door handles and locks, the urethane nose extension, drivetrain and interior in it when they blasted it. It destroyed the nose and all of the lenses on side markers and headlights. The handles are also toast. |
Getting closer to breaking out the knife!! You'll have it looking like the rendering in no time!! :unibrow:

And yet some more pics. See, I really do own a car after all. You can see in the engine pics the big chunk of the #3piston missing. The roller tip rockers had mushroomed all of the valve tips too. The heads are the camel hump castings and the drivers side one has a crack in it between the 1 and 3 cyl. The tranny is also toast. The whole package is a boat anchor now. Good thing I am going big block!

Okay then....
I have a plasma cutter -- a couple body saws... 100's of cut off wheels... and multiple grinders of various sizes.... I see some serious slicin' and dicin' in your future! LOL |

Some more. There is some rot in the metal frame inside the urethane nose. You can see what a good wheel chock a second gen bumper makes (it's bent anyway). The bike is my therapist and the boat is for sale (hint, hint...):D

Are those bores oval?
And who the hell media blasts a car with the engine still installed.... |

And what car from the 70's would be complete without a pot pipe? Or at least half of one. I found this in the glove box wedged in the back. I'm guessing it has been there a very long time.

I have no idea what they were thinking when they blasted it. |
Looks like a fairly solid car. You had better spend less time here and more time in the garage. You have a boat load of work to do!:unibrow:
|
You can store the bike at my house....just trying to make room for the project!! :unibrow:

Well here I am Eric, you have officially brought me over to the dark side lol...Love the renderings, I am a little partial to the red but those final two pics of the ferrari grey look awesome. Can't wait to get that motor/tranny combo out of there. Drop me a line when your ready to go.
|
Hello Ray!! Glad you came out of the dark ages when cars only went fast in a straight line! The TC guys who just did the Pinks show should love that. :D
We have the technology on this site to make your Chevell go real fast around corners too..... I'm thinking next weekend (Sunday?) for the motor and trans pull session. I'll have the cherry picker and engine stand ready to go. I'll call you this week and confirm. Thanks! Hey guys, Ray (bad.samaritan) lives near me and has a VERY nice Chevelle. I am working hard to get him to wreck his financial well being and do the PT treatment. Welcom aboard Ray! |
Welcome Ray!
Eric, what can I say...I love that color and can't wait to see both cars together! |
Very cool Eric. Let the madness begin!!!:willy:
Good luck with everything. Tell Ray to post a couple of pics of the Chevelle. Talk to you later bud. |
I really like the turbo plumbin' in your build!! Do you have any plans to change it?? I think I now understand the RED stripe with the Grey body color!! How cool is that!!

DUDE!!! That was my top secret mega power ,next big thing to market power adder! Dammit, I don't have the patent yet!!
But it does match the red stripe nice huh? It's all in the details my friend! |
Thanks Tony Rose!! I picked up the rotissery this weekend from Tony's place and am hoping to have the car on it by the end of next week. Then reconstruction/repairs can start.
