That's right! Lay down and cower so you don't get hurt... no wonder the thieves and crooks think they can walk all over society.

I agree.....the problem is these judges that rule in favor of these maggots. That crap needs to stop yesterday!

zbugger 07-23-2009 06:32 PM

Way to go, Bruce Lee!!! I keep a bat with me so I can do some real good damage if anyone is caught trying to rip me off. Self defense is self defense. Glad to see you didn't get hurt, but too bad in this state we can't do more damage without getting in trouble.

jcal87 07-23-2009 06:39 PM

To bad your neighbor wasn't Joe horn then they wouldn't have lived to see another day...thieves are just terrorists living in American.

jcal87 07-23-2009 06:47 PM

and being someone who had two motorcycles stolen in San Diego last year if I ever come across someone stealing anything of mine again whether their armed with a screwdriver or not there catching a bullet center mass and i hope it doesn't kill them but yet paralyze them from the waste down so they can live the rest of there life thinking about how FN stupid they were at one point and time let them be a wheel chairing billboard to others.that might have sounded harsh but thieves are the lowest scum on this earth along with rapist and child molesters

YancyJohns 07-23-2009 07:27 PM

This is better than an episode of COPS..
Congrats on nailing that piece of sh*t...
When I was 25, me and my wife were in bed when I noticed a man trying to steal my Camaro. I ran down stairs and chased him over a mile and half into trailer park when I noticed, I was in my underware and in his neighborhood. I said to myself, you better get the H*ll out of here. Now, I have my gun carry permit.

racebuicks 07-23-2009 07:43 PM

this is why I am certified to carry a conceiled weapon. If nothing else I would have pistol whipped him...... You did the right thing. Now the punk will have second thoughts about stealing in your neigborhood. And Id bet he tells his friends too. Nice job!

Derek69SS 07-23-2009 08:19 PM

I do think you were nuts to go after him unarmed... If he tried that here, he'd have been looking down the business-end of an 18.5" barrel pistol-grip Remington 870 loaded with 6 rounds of 00-buck.

RECOVERY ROOM 07-23-2009 08:38 PM

We can carry here also, never know who has what.Keeps them guessing ...Still say way to go John

Scott, could you change his title from Senior Member to Resident Ninja? lol....

novanutcase 07-23-2009 10:34 PM

I got a call from the officer that took me aside. Apparently this guy has been terrorizing the neighborhood with a rash of burgularies and whatever other mayhem he's been causing so he said he wanted to just let me know along with the fact that the DA has decided to charge him with assault with a deadly weapon but only if I commit to testifying against him.

Trust me when I say "Yes" couldn't have come out of my mouth faster! I'm so sick of these thieves terrorizing our neighborhoods. I'm sufficiently armed so if he decides to retaliate when he gets out he's going to have an a$$ full of lead!

The extent of his endeavor:

Of course not everyone can defend themselves properly.
I'm looking to shore up my skills, so I did a web search to learn to dominate like this fellow. He said "It's not the size of the opponent, its their ferocity."

Seriously John, that's great it worked out for you.

Heck no you did the Bad A$$ thing. Good thing you didn't get hurt or stabbed by some low life Mfer. I sleep with a Military Police knight stick next to my bed in case anyone gets any dumb ideas about breaking into my house or cars. You know I don't think pepper spray would have got you into any trouble either or tazing the hell outta him

I must say, I have to agree with Bill's sentiments, here.

Jay Hilliard 07-24-2009 06:20 AM

Way to go! We have to stand up more against thugs like this and defend our family, property.

Here in NC, if he came at you with a screwdriver with intent to harm, you have the right to use deadly force.

ironworks 07-24-2009 06:40 AM

So did they say anything about giving you a parade?

yoboy sawyer 07-24-2009 08:13 AM

smart man on the submission hold. I'd have been quick to grab a weapon. I think you're smarter than I.

Cannot stand thieves. Great job

byebye67 07-24-2009 12:47 PM

glad your ok man. you did the reasonable thing, you stopped him and held him until the police got there. i used to live near the miracle mile in los angeles and have had my fair share of encounters...glad to hear you defended well. sometimes the only language these meth heads understand is elbow to throat. i'm relieved that your unarmed skill was higher than his with a screwdriver hehe

That might work really well on a nova convertible. It would sure look good with the brown interior idea he has been kicking around.

Honestly, it all happened so fast it was like a blur. It's not like I planned this all out as I was approaching the guy. I just reacted. One minute I'm all pissed off slithering around the front of the car and the next the guys on the ground gurgling. I guess I was so pissed I just went into automatic mode. It just kind of happened.
If I was smart I would have brought a tire iron with me but, again, I was all wound up and wasn't thinking. I just thank god that this idiot didn't have a gun. A knife I can handle for the most part but getting around a gun is near impossible and much more lethal.

A topic about defending your property comes up, and you don't expect guns to be brought up? If this thief had been armed, or even just a better fighter, we'd sadly be talking about a completely different topic. Looking at this from a logical standpoint, going after the thief unarmed is a good way to get yourself killed. I'm sure logical and rational thought didn't enter into the situation though... like he says, he just reacted.

:rofl:If we thought we were tough-guys, we wouldn't need the guns. We'd just kick their asses.

I commend the OP for his brass balls and fighting skills used to take this guy down, but in all honesty, I think it was a bad decision and he got lucky.

mazspeed 07-25-2009 09:34 AM

Top man John. Way to defend your property. Yeah calling the cops sounds nice, but once you confront someone at your house, they are not likely to come back. If he does, then you kill him. I don't care if the property is only worth $20 dollars, it's your property and if someone thinks he can take something that belongs to you, then he absolutely deserves some street justice. Thumbs up to you John.

I agree with you Derek. My confronting him was probably not the smartest thing to do.

Now that I've had a chance to think about it the situation could have gone very badly. I guess whatever logic I had in that heightened state was to at least confront the guy face to face so that he knew I wan't going to just lay down. I thought that he would just run away. I didn't expect him to lunge at me like that. Once the adrenalin took over it was all a blur!

Most perps understand the response time and how the legal system works(or doesn't work for the most part!). I had a retail store and thieves would do "smash and grabs" by breaking the storefront window and taking as much as they could within a few minutes. They knew that the cops couldn't get there that fast and it took at least that long for the alarm company to call me first and for me to authorize them to call the cops.

I guess, at the time, something snapped in me and I just said "NO MORE!"

John
