So tonight I have decided to stick with my original plan of using platinum silver for my strips instead of the white. I think by changing the color now would throw off the whole I dea I have for the car. So i will post up some pictures once the strips are laid out.

Well the finished product is going to be a few more days. I stalled out on painting the stripes for a few days, b/c i decided to have one of the site artists draw the car with a few out of the box options with the paint, just to see wht he comes up with. More to come!

+1^ Should be killer in the sunlight!!! Also I agree with you about the radiator core support core support. Always a tough choice whether to paint it black or go with body color. Some cars look great with body color on the rad support and some don't. Once you have the grill in place, you'll know if it works. The hood stripes look excellent !!! Keep the pics coming.......

Not a fan at first

but those stripes really offset the green nicely. Good choice.

70rs 01-17-2010 12:35 PM

I am going to guess it will look better with the core support black. The body color is so bright that if you do it body color that it will take away from the grill and other front end trim. It will act as a "light" behind the grill and you will lose some of the details.

that's what I'm thinking I might have to go back and repaint the core support black. But I'll scope it out once I get the grill in and it all put back together. Still have to wet sand and buf the car out. But it should shine in this Florida sunlight.

I imagine that color is going to be VERY noticeable in the Florida sun!

When you get the grill in and before you paint the core black post up a pic, I'd like to see it both ways.

Just for the fun of it have you thought of incorporating your stripes in to the core support? This way you would have a lot of black in the grill area and green would show when you opened the hood.

Just a thought

Jon

i'm thinking I might just paint the front face of the core support black, So i still have the green under the hood. IDK, I'm going to wait and see what it looks like with the grill on.

Ok, the car rolled out of the garage today after a good wet sanding and buff. We finally got the windshield in so we were able to install the front & rear glass in as well.

Looks good but I think the mirrors are a little out of place, too bulky for the Nova.
Just my .02.

lol...That was the first thing that caught my attention they will be replaced shortly with something a little smaller.

It looks great out in the sun, Nice color.

796spdbu 01-28-2010 10:17 AM

NICE!!!!! What part of Florida you from?

burntnova 01-28-2010 02:55 PM

I'm in the panhandle of Florida. Fort Walton beach

thedude327 02-10-2010 03:17 PM

Nova looks great in the sunlight!! Now that I've seen the core support in the daylight, I think your idea of painting the front black is the way to go. This is the fun part of any build as it's getting into the home stretch.

Well as some of you know already. I got stationed over in Germany for three years. So hopefully I can pick up so good tips on the autocross and road courses over here. But I was debating on whether or not I should sell the car or store it while I was gone. Well I ended up buying a 24' enclosed trailer to store the car in so hopefully by the time I come back to the states there will be a pile or two of parts boxes in the trailer with the car.

Well the car made the trip to NY where it now sits for three years in the nice new trailer. And believe me I followed the trailer like a hawk all the way from Fl to NY.
But on another note. Today I ordered a few things both front & rear bumper & a new grill, and a few misc things like new mirrors, door handles, lock set.

Next is a new fuel tank. Does anyone know of any good companies that make tanks for a stock location mount.

GregWeld 05-20-2010 04:49 PM

Make sure you've got some air moving in that trailer - or in three years - you'll come back to a moldy pile of rust.

I run a fan in mine whenever I'm "storing" - and I run heat in it in the winter and leave the lights on (overhead fluorescents) for additional heat and air movement.

tones2SS 05-21-2010 08:25 AM

Very cool.
Nice GTO too!

burntnova 01-27-2011 01:02 PM

Well My car has been in the trailer for almost a year now and I have been slowly buying parts for the car. Now it's time to buy wheels. And I need some opinions. I know I'm going to use a 18x9 wheel and I'm thinking an all black wheel but what does everyone think. My budget for the wheels are about 3k.

It has been a great three years here in Germany and we have seen many things that my kids will never forget, but it's almost time to get back to the states ( we find out where we're heading next this coming week). But I'm excited to get back to the nova and get her finished.

I've got all new chrome for her.
Hotchkis rear leafs
Hotchkis 3" drop springs
Hell wig front/rear sways
Global west subframe connectors
Bilstein for the 4 corners
Global west interloc body bushings
