I hate it when my work won't allow the pictures to download...

I'm inspired by everyone on these forums that builds their cars and then shares their builds with us. All the fab work, paint, interior, every part of these builds. All of the shops, websites, books, EVERYONE! Just fabrication work in general amazes me regardless of what it is. Speaking of all this fab work could anyone use any free help?

What questions do you have? It has a load sensor in the upper roller.

Scotch 12-17-2009 08:18 AM

I've seen a lot of fab work in my*time, but this ranks up there with the best of 'em.

This guy built himself a hot rod truck. The whole thing! Body, chassis...all fabricated. Totally killer.

One of my biggest inspirations of all time is Richard Michael Pazua. This Guy's work is insane !!!! It blow's my mind. If this guy gets an idea he makes the tool and then the product. But he just doesn't make a tool he takes it to the extreme. Check him out at www.allshops.org/ or metalshapers associatin

This isn't a car (but it's car related) but this trophy was built some of the best fabricators I have ever seen. It was used in the NASCAR awards ceremony in NY last week. It is 12 ft tall and disassembles for shipping. Hell, the shipping crates for the flags are a work of art.

Well I guess if you win that trophy, More then likely you have the means to display it in your house or office.

Cool project.

CRCRFT78 12-18-2009 09:14 AM

Seeing that big trophy makes me think of the movie "Honey I Shrunk the Kids", or in this case the fabricators.

Karl Buchka 12-18-2009 09:20 AM

I can think of far too many to name offhand, but this one in particular comes to mind:

http://dump.basketofkittens.com/Manta_galleri5.jpg

http://dump.basketofkittens.com/Manta_galleri11-1.jpg

A guy by the name of Ronny Hilmersson put this car together a few years ago and it's probably one of the biggest reasons I started picking up tools. Custom everything, amazing detail work, and he did it all by himself in his garage.

Build pics: http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/start.asp?show=c
Finished pics: http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/start.asp?show=ea

He also has a powerboat project that is practically pornographic: http://www.hilmersson-racing.com/start.asp?show=e

ironworks 12-18-2009 09:56 AM

Well what ever you can think of, post it up. That orange euro car is SOFA KING awesome. I would love to do that to a datsun 510 some day.

Thanks for posting.

syborg tt 12-18-2009 02:54 PM

Now this is a cool car

Man I love it !!!!!

As far as I am concerned.. And I am hugely biased... Nothing will ever touch this
It's the Kirkham billet Cobra...I know some of you have seen it... but good lord.. I would love to see it in person.

Oh yea, one of my favorites, I posted them on page 3, but keep them coming

nvr2fst 12-27-2009 08:36 PM

Not sure if its inspirational but the designed components for "play land" make you wonder? Never realized how much detail goes into these RC cars/trucks. From billet chassis to full all out suspension components.

preston 12-28-2009 02:42 PM

I feel pretty good about a lot of the stuff I've been fabbing especially given that I"m entirely "internet" taught and have crappy Harbor Freight levels of tooling and a tiny shop. Nothing to compare to the pro's not to mention the people on this thread. But what always blows me away isn't so much the thought and ability that goes into making these pieces - I'd like to think my mind works in some of the same ways.

What always makes me laugh at my own crap is the level of perfection in all the pieces. I can do some metal shaping and TIG it together nicely enough, but everything I do has a home made quality to it. THere is always some slight asymmetry, big scratches in the surface, messed up corners or places where I have to put things into tension to keep them aligned.

And the grinder and some bondo can cover up a lot of problems.

But when I look at things like that submarine car and it looks like it came straight out of a hot rod extrusion machine.....I still can't manage to completely planish all the hammer bumps out of a small piece of metal.

That is what is depressing about looking at incredible work like this !

Of course I only spend 20 hours a week hot rodding, always under a lot of time pressure, and only for the last 10 years. I guess I could imagine a world where 50 hours of fabbing a week for the last 40 years might get you pretty good at stuff.

Rodger,
The arms look like a massive fish hook for white shark.
Besides the body mods what did this start out as 1,2 or 3? Kinda hard to tell. I need to get some tires and beadlocks like that for mine.

The 4*4 guys make the rest of us look like pikers.

nvr2fst 01-02-2010 11:05 AM

I started thinking what actually INSPIRED me to change a stock Camaro. I know there's a ton of builds out there.
But at the beginning prior to becoming a member here, not scrolling through the web and basically only hitting local shows my inspiration came from Scott G's Camaro. Ive seen several cars in mags that were really nice but in person for a Camaro, thats what got me thinking, then came the G force Cuda. When the Brunning boys started the E-ticket Challenger thats what gave me inspiration to do a custom chassis.

Something a little different is always good....

A lot of the processes and jig stuff is the same with metal as it is with other materials - so I like to look at bunches of sites that can inspire and be cross utilized. (plus I like woodworking too) Here's a couple to cruze !

Get well soon !

I often check in on Pinkee's to see them building cool stuff.

DSE is always a good read - always some new stuff being posted.

Same with Rad Rides - always great build picks to drool over when you need inspiration.
