Sweet looking parts, sorry to hear about the yoke. I think there are powder coats that match alot of paint colors. I'm not sure if Caswell can match colors. Its looking good.

Got the frame back today. The firewall is getting body worked and blocked. Also decided to shave the cowl too. What was supposed to be just an LS 6.0 & T56 Magnum upgrade is beginning to spiral out of control.:unibrow: Allow me to explain.:pushbutto I have since taken the body off of the frame and powdercoated it and replaced the 12 bolt with a Currie 9" with a Strange center section. Now I have decided to go ahead and shave the drip rails, flush mount the front and rear glass to give it a more modern day look and get rid of the stock molding and then repaint the whole car, same color of course. I also am getting a '59 Impala dash custom fitted into it with a custom console too. I'm also waiting on some goodies to come in the mail. They should be here next week. That's all for now!:willy:

The frame looks great. I like the 59 dash Idea it should look good.

Very cool. This beast is moving right along.

Wassup guys, just a quick update. Project has been moving a bit slower. Well...I had to slow it down some. I've been spending money like crazy. LOL!! Anyway, the frame is being reassembled and I dropped the rear end off at the powdercoat shop today. Did some small changes to the 9". As you can see, for a cleaner look I had my shop guy take off the spring perches since I have coilovers in the rear. He also added a tow tab next to the lower trailing arm mount just in case I ever have to get it towed. Also, the shop has began to do some light blocking to the car to fix the small dings. Since I will be going with the same color and the car was taken to metal the first time I built the car, we will only do light blocking and rough up the paint with a soft grit then reshoot it and clear it. Of course, wet sand and buff it until it shines like new nickel. Besides, I drive the hell out of it. There's no way I would put a $10k paint job on it if someone else paid for it. That's all for now.
|
Here are a few pics of the bodywork with the blocking. Next on the body list is shaving the drip rails and shaving the rear marker lights.
|
It's looking good. So much for a simple motor/trans swap huh?
|
Very nice. Should be killer when complete!!!
If I wasn't doing a '69 Camaro, I'd be building a Chevelle. Keep us posted. |

Picked up the rear end from the powdercoat shop. I'll take it to the rear end shop one day next week to have the third member and axles put in and get the brakes put on to make the frame a roller. Also, the shop started fabbing in the '59 Impala dash. They just got in tacked in right now. Heres a few pics. I know how you boys like pics. LOL!!
|
The rear came out nice , that dash is going to looks sweet in there.
|
Very nice man.
|
A few parts came today. My F.A.S.T. 102mm LSxR intake and Big Mouth throttle body came. Went by the shop also to check on my baby. They have began shaving the drip rails. They are still fabbing the dash in also. Here are a few pics. Enjoy...:lateral:

Awesome build man. . .
I was searching the web for Chevelle parts and I came across your thread. I had to join the forum in order to see your pics. Funny thing is, I'm in the process of restoring a 72' also and like you I'm putting in a LS motor. Seeing your progress makes me realize how far I still have to go. Keep up the good work and I look forward to following the rest of your build. Cheers, JJ |

I have just now reviewed your thread on your Chevelle. Very impressive!
I love the paint wheel combo  |
Not much of an update, but the frame is coming together slowly. Sorry for the grainy pics. Better pics coming later as frame progresses. Also, a pic of the rear billet spindles. The fronts were at the machine shop getting the steering arm cut off.

Keep us posted. |
Now that the frame is in the jig, here comes the hard part. About to get this baby installed or for a lack of better terms...die trying to get in installed. :pushbutto It's gonna take me some time, so bare with me. Sorry, I couldn't enlarge pics without them becoming too grainy.

No big deal, went and picked up the front spindles the other day and sent them to my frame guy. These are the front ones with the steering arms cut off. I had the front and rear ones clear powdercoated to keep that nice, clean billet look protected. They were too pretty to coat with a color.
