Woah...those gauges look sick!

Just curious, any thoughts of making a speedo/odo. in one and the vitals in the other pod? It would be a pretty good looking gauge package in a firebird with a hood tach (I would totally be in for a set).

marks914 02-23-2010 06:52 AM

Guys,
as for colors, I woudl say about 70% of our work is custom, so we can always do a custom dial.
Right now the hash marks are the 67-69 mint green, we have the proper color code for it.

Matt: We can do a speedo and 4-1 right now, we have all the parts.

This is the original 6 gauge concept that will match the 3-1s. then you can mix and match parts, big speedo, and the rest small, or whatever. Working on it all right now.

Ran some test dials for the brushed look. Came out really good, looks better in person. Best of all, we can light through-the dial and still get the metal or even chrome look. We also ran some chrome ink, and it came out great too. Ill take some pics of that to.
Heres a pic:

Played around with another way to customize this week. we did some lens etching. A cool way to add something to a gauge without being obnoxious. Looks pretty classy

Not yet, We just received the samples and are going to debut them at the Hot Rod and Restoration show this week. Yes a great price, and I would put them up against any brand for quality, function, warranty. We get to use their massive military, OEM and marine volume to get some serious cost reduction on these sets.

Larry,
I would say that 70% of what we do is custom. That panel would be a one-off built from scratch retrofit, so it would not be cheap.

I had a feeling... When I found that pic the post said it is a very expensive panel. I'm kinda torn between that fairly stock looking panel and the full-on multi-gauge panel look. Nothing but options, until I buy one! The Classic Instruments panel is still very close to the top of my list.

Thanks for the response and keep coming up with new ideas!

Mark, Your new gauges look great. I like the spun metal faces. They have a race car look without looking overdone. As far as indicator lights are concerned, I like turn signals, high beam, and possibly a check engine light and oil pressure light. Anyway good luck on your new product. Hey larry
Just wanted to let you know that we are building similar packages for Old Dog Street Rods, these look similar to what you posted, and can be made in any color.

I think they are way below the competition.

Mark --

I need new gauge set up for the 56 Nomad - but your speedo is a bit on the LOW side... How 'bout kickin' it up a notch to like 160 MPH??

Was just shopping Dakota Digital -- their new VTX line is looking mighty sharp...

Hi guys
the 55-56 clusters are sold through Old Dog Street Rods, we cannot sell them direct. I'd like to take a shot at building one with a tach

As for an update on the 3-1 gauges, we have the design and programming complete! We are having issues with some of the tool shops and parts suppliers suddenly wanting to change their quotes to about 3X what they were 60 days ago (quotes good for 90 days). So, now we are dealing with that, hopefully this will be worked out in a few days or we will find a new suppliers for these components, which delays things.

We will have stand-alone units as well as bolt-in packages for 67-68 camaro and a 69 Camaro package.

Hey Mark,
I'm looking at your website and am curious when the redline series will be available? I don't need them yet, but am curious and also what sort of LED color options will be available? I was originally going to do Dakota Digital and have recently been very interested in the Autometer Nexus series. I just noticed the Redline's for the first time and I like the idea of being able to customize the gauge and face. Will

We can build the redlines any time, its just the dials that are different. All of our stepper motor gauges are the same, white or amber LED lighting, its the dial and bezel that make the looks different.
It sounds like you need something custom, let us know what you need, a custom set runs $700-$900 depending on the time it takes to design the dials and how many colors are on them, Still less expensive than the competition's off the shelf product! I think those Nexus sets run about $1200.00
Why not get a custom set the way you want for less? Dont go digital!

wellis77 08-10-2010 05:43 AM

Thanks for the info Mark. I definitely want to do something custom, I'm just not sure what I want it to look like yet. I know the simple things having blinker, bright, & e-brake indicators in the tach & speedo. Just not sure of the dial. I'll have to think about that a bit. I want a full sweep gauge and really like the look of the Redline's, though the 2020's have a more simple look and may take better to a custom dial. I'll need to spend some time studying my render to see what would complement it well as a gauge dial.

marks914 12-30-2010 02:52 PM

OK
Finally!
The processors showed up yesterday and we will begin building them in a couple of weeks.
Pricing will range from $499-$550 depending on the level of gauge and mounting solution.
It took way longer than we wanted, but we are finally able to start production.
Will have updates in the next week or so with the launch date and exact pricing.
These will be avaialble in the 67-68 style shown, our 69, Redline, Woodward and 67 series.
Another great feature is we also have matching ancillary gauges (EGT, A/F ratio, Boost, oil temp, N2o press, trans temp, etc) that match the 3-1s, so you can add-on, maintain the look and save space in the dash.

As always, made in Detroit and with our 5-year warranty!

Love the look of these. Would it be possible to do a Km/h speedo ?

marks914 01-04-2011 11:11 AM

Thanks guys,
I'll have some pics in a about a week, still finishing up the testing and need to tweak the programming on the speedo a bit.

We will be able to to metric units as well, no problem.

Stay tuned.

Mark

marks914 01-09-2011 04:16 PM

OK,
Here is the artwork on the first two versions of the gauges. the first, the 68 series, has the flavor of 67,68 Camaro/Firebird while the 69 series has more of the 69 style. Just finished testing and tweaking the programming, burned some chips this morning and everything is ready to go!

Pricing? We will be taking pre-launch orders on the 69 series for $499 and the 68 series are $525. We will also have the 67-68 mounting brackets available for $49.00. The bezels are available in stainless or hyperblack.

This is a pre-launch special, we plan to print dials this week and start delivery of the products by the end of the month. We are also building similar products as a private label for other manufacturers, so keep an eye out for those as well.

Both sets are backlit, feature a GM match fuel gauge, turn signals, hi beam, check engine and warning lamps, all integrated in the gauge. Easily wired via our color-coded packard harnesses.

Need to monitor boost, EGT, A/F ratio as well? We have matching 2-1/16" gauges for that as well for a complete, integrated system.

As always, we can build a custom set as well, any color, graphics, etc.

I'll get more info on our website in the next couple of days.

OK,
All of the pre-order info is up on our website. We only have enough left to build 12 more sets as of this morning, so the sooner the better, we will be building another batch in late feb/early march.
The 3-1 page just crashed, they are available in our store, just click the link on the top of our website to the store main page, then search for 3-1

Panel is about as simple as it gets, you can also see the nice packard connectors we mold into the housing.

Here is a 68 series set with stainless bezels, installed in the 67-68 panel. You can also see how the 69 series has a deadfront over the indicators, so they are hidden when off.

As requested, here is a pic of the titanium bezels. They are black, but its more of a smoked chrome, much classier than black.
