OK guys, this has been a tough week to pull all this together so quickly but time was not on our side. I have set up a new website that will serve not only as a registration spot for all events I put on, but will also cover the other ones that I attend with pictures, and talk about those events.
Please click here www.octaneforyourbrain.com to register for the 1st annual El Toro event. The cost is $150. It will be April 2-4, 2010, so as you can see, the sooner you register the better. I am limiting the number of registrations to 65 cars, so please, if you want in, please register now. You will have a spot as you go thru the registration where you need to select which day (Friday or Saturday) that you want to run at El Toro. The first 30 that register on Friday will be locked in and the first 35 that register on Saturday will be locked in. Others will be moved to the opposite day, so register asap so you are guarenteed your choice of days. Spectators, volunteers and participates are welcomed both days, see you there.
We will also have a Vendor and Media Class running on Friday. Everyone will be invited for both days, but we can only get about 40 or so per day thru and be sure everyone gets to run. I will have a set of rules up soon. Also, we are trying to fill up the field with pre 80 cars first. Any one with a newer car will be allowed but if your car is newer than that, it will not be in the running for King of the Coast.
Besides the two days at El Toro, we will have a cruise on Sunday morning. Those details are now being finalized but look for a great time on Sunday also.
One other thing in this post before it gets too long.
Optima has stepped up and offered an invite for the winner to the prestigous Optima Ultimate Street Car Challenge after SEMA this year, so you have one more reason to sign up soon. Having been invited to this last year, I can tell you what a thrill it was to be there and run with some of the best cars in the industry.
The prefered payment method on the registration site is Paypal, however, if you have another way you rather pay, just comment in the right section and we will do whatever. However, until your payment is in my hand, you are not confirmed as a participant. I hate to do that but it is the only way I can be fair to everyone concerned.

Thanks for wading thru this long post, Yancy, Danny and myself look forward to being your hosts and bringing a little Southern Hospitality to LA.

Two Major Sponsors announced

Ridetech is the official sponsor of the El Toro Autocross. Bret and crew have been doing autocross events across the country with GoodGuys so no one does it better or has more experience, thanks guys for the support.

Baer Brakes has stepped up and is sponsoring the Baer Speed Stop Challenge. This will be their version of 0-60-0 but with a twist. Sorry, but I will not announce the twist until April 2. Every day the news gets better and more sponsors are calling and joining in on the fun.

Tomorrow I will let everyone know about two other MAJOR sponsor announcements, stay tuned.

Bill Howell 02-16-2010 06:33 PM

This is so exciting. Forgeline and GP SUPERSTORE have teamed up for one great door prize. For the price of entry fee, now everyone (except vendors) will be eligible for a FREE set of Forgelines. This is a HUGE door prize guys, one of the most expensive ones I have given away. This is worth the price to play even if you didn't come...haha

Thanks so much to both Forgeline-now the official wheel company of the event and to Frank for, as always supporting these events. Without great sponsors, we just couldn't do these events.

Stay tuned, more info coming tomorrow!

Mike, that's awesome! I would've loved to cruise down with you and equally screw things up as well as my car.

Dammit I'm getting sick not having a car to take to this event. :( You guys are gonna have a blast.

Vegas69 02-17-2010 08:21 PM

Come on down Flash, Doug will let you run his drag car. :D

I'm not sure Dave had enough seat time with his D1R to assist him in managing the F3 ----that's blower speak for you N/A guys

Dave, you should come out for this----will be fun--we are going to have a get together at my place on one of the nights for a BBQ---you are invited.

Mine was actually a D1SC, but who's taking notes! :D That F3 is a bad ass. Who needs a belt when you have a cog? :unibrow: I wanna see both your cars Doug. But remember, my daily driver was/is actually quicker/faster than my Camaro. And it already nearly bores me with almost 700hp. That's what happens when you get used to it everyday.... let's talk wastegates and catalytic convertors! LOL

Yeah I think I'll put this on the calendar. It'll def help me get back into a muscle car even quicker!

Vegas69 02-17-2010 09:21 PM

Sweet man, racing will only be half the fun.

D1SC---that's right--I know you told me that--what's a letter or two amongst friends---

Listen, sign up for Sat and bring that 700hp beast---Bill said DD are good to go---you would certainly have a great time and we would all like you to attend---how many other chances are you going to get to do this?

10psi, 20psi, ehh it's just a digit! :D

Lemme stew on that... that does sound fun but I'm just not sure I want to be THAT GUY in the Porsche at this event.

I believe what I read from Bill was something like bring your DD Vette, Caddie, Mustang, etc... didn't see no Eurotrash cars listed in there.

Depending on what the dates are, count me in at least for being a spectator. If it's late summer I am not 100% ruled out of having another muscle car by then.... if the stars align. :)

GregWeld 02-18-2010 06:00 AM

I went to buy a Porsche once - but my friends did an intervention....

YOU'RE right! I'm still kicking myself! Except the one I fell in love with was the Cayman S -- and they started calling it a "girlie car".... but I just love the looks of it.

Okay - Thread jack over... LOL

They did you right not letting you buy that pathetic little car. That barely a step up from the boxster. Ok no more P-car talk.

GregWeld 02-18-2010 04:16 PM

Charley -- You forget this is LATERAL G -- not the buzz buzz wee wee site?

LOL

BTW -- I'd LOVE to actually see you riding one of those!

Dave -- Yes you're right about barely above the Boxster... and it isn't very powerful either - but the shape is just so nice... But as my buddies all chided me - "if you're going to drive a Porsche - get a REAL Porsche" - in the end I had to agree, and bought an M5... but that's another story.

Returning the thread to WC RTTH... :_paranoid

Event Update!

This event has been changed to a one day instead of two day event at El Toro. All cars will run on Saturday now. If you have registered for Friday and can not attend on Saturday, I will be more than happy to refund your money. If you are on the fence about attending, register now, or you may miss out. Only about 10 spots left.

What?

:(

gearheadgarage 02-23-2010 09:32 PM

We have a '67 Barracuda headed down to join Mike P. at the event. Martz rear chassis, Alter-k-Tion front end, 408 ci small block.

I hear there are only 10 spots left....looks like my conv't is selling this week- maybe in time to score the new one & lock in a spot? :unibrow:

mdprovee 02-24-2010 08:29 AM

Yeah come join the fun Jason...if yours is sold, then just take one of the cars in the shop for a "test drive".

chr2002ca 02-26-2010 11:23 AM

Hi Bill. I noticed the website 'www.octaneforyourbrain.com' is no longer available. Has registration closed for Saturday? If registration is still open, how can I register? I'm not able to trailer my car in(I'll have to drive it from San Diego) so I can't run it as hard(or as fast) as some of the other guys here, but I'd still like to participate and contribute to the event.

Thanks!

chr2002ca 02-26-2010 10:15 PM

The registration website was back online this evening so I was able to register for Saturday. I look forward to participating and seeing all the truly great rides out there. Hopefully the car will hold up and I don't have to push it back to San Diego.

It will hold up just fine.. if not I have AAA premium tow service (that is if I don't need it!) lol

See ya out there... oh yea, guess I need an engine first... :_paranoid

chr2002ca 02-27-2010 07:54 AM

Thanks Steve, I appreciate that. I look forward to finally seeing Bad Penny stretch its legs in person. I have only been able to see it run 2 small Goodguys autocross events where it barely had a chance to get out of 1st gear. Of course, I've watched all the online videos too, but in person will be so much better. The same goes for a lot of the other cars that will be attending also. I'm stoked to be able to attend.

I am due for surgery on the 24th (having a pain pump installed) but will do my best to make it to the event and meet all of you and run the car as hard as I can.

If I can't make it due to complications from the implant etc, I'll let Bill know so a spot can free up.

Ambitious I know, but I don't feel ANY pain when I'm on the track. Adrenaline is a natural painkiller.
