Your doing some nice work

GPR 10-12-2011 08:02 AM

I thought I would take a picture outside before we tape the body and spray SPI bedliner on the floor and inside the trunk.

GPR 10-14-2011 02:33 PM

Brian taped off the complete car than sprayed a coat of epoxy than SPI bedliner on the trunk floor and interior floor.

Saturday we went to the Mustang Club of Tampa's 30th annual car show. When we left the shop at 6:30 it was raining and finally stopped around 10:30. At first it looked like we would have a bad turn out but I was surprised when the weather cleared the cars kept rolling in.

I plan on using the stock grille and chrome trim so I modified the stone guard than bonded it to the Maier front end.

It is hard to tell in this picture but the nose is to wide at the top so I cut off both sides

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/303.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/307.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/308.jpg

Another problem is the bottom brackets hung down over an 1" from the frame rail so I cut them off and bolted them to the frame

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/309.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/310.jpg

Next I used fiberglass mat and resin to reattach. When this sets up I will take it off and add more to the other side.

I got a package today from UPS and I was surprised to find these in the box. I can't wait to install these great looking hinges.

Will the panel adhesive keep the seam from cracking? I am doing a 65 coupe right now and the person I bought the shell from bondo'ed the end caps to the quarters and I havent even started the real body work and the seams are already cracking from their past work. So will that adhesive help that if i take them off and redo them?

I added material to the back and sanded the front

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/218.jpg

What type of work did you do with the bumper. Is that a steel bumper that you tucked? Or is that a fiberglass bumper? Do they come tucked if so?

It's fiberglass I cut it in 3 pieces to narrow it than added material on the ends to get it closer to the end caps. The end caps were bonded on with panel adhesive. I did a 1965 Fastback and painted it 4 years ago and no cracks.

GPR 12-10-2011 03:05 PM

Making new fiberglass ends for the front end.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/314.jpg

I taped a piece of aluminum on there for a pattern than added two pieces of fiberglass mat

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/316.jpg

The next day I carefully removed the aluminum

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...0Coupe/317.jpg

I added more material to the back side than sanded a little and this is the first test fit. It's getting closer to what I want. I still need to reshape the spoiler.

Looks good Rusty.

GPR 12-11-2011 01:18 PM

I spent today adding fiberglass to the ends of the front end so it will mount to the holes in the fender where the stock valance bolts. It is now held in place with 8 bolts in the original holes.

Love the build Rusty!

Two questions --

Can you post up a big picture of what appears to be your "old" race car? The one you're using for your Avatar?

Why did you paint the hood and deck lid at this point in the build? I'm not being critical - I was just wondering.

First off I love the roof graphics on the 69 drag car. That just pops out I think its awesome.

Second....what are your plans for the door handles on the 68? I shaved the rails on my 65 coupe that im doing and im tucking the bumpers but cant decide whether or not to shave them or not. Just wondering what your plan was because I like the look.

I don't like shaved door handles so I will keep them stock

I wanted a plain grille for the Coupe so I ordered a new Dynacorn grille and drilled out the rivets that held the uprights.

Be sure and check out the June 2012 issue of Modified Mustangs & Fords magazine because the Coupe and Fairlane will be on the cover. This is the first time a car not finished is on the cover.

I got a new set of taillights installed. After a lot of trimming on the new rubber taillight to body seal they finally fit.

Man I love that Shelby color!

Yours too Rusty -- but that metallic green just gets to me! And I'm not a 'green' guy.
