Talk about tedious work, that's amazing! And I thought my renderings took a long time. That's gonna be awesome when it's done!

Sales@Dutchboys 04-21-2006 10:48 AM

Im impressed! your very talented! Keep up the good work.

ottatyme 04-22-2006 08:51 AM

The sheer amount of detail involved in this project is mind-boggling... Absolutely gorgeous! I think that your talent is only matched by your dedication and patience... It's been mentioned before, but to think that you've kept the proportions and scale so tight without measurements is just incredible, and a testament to your ability both with the software, and vision to take on such a killer amount of work. :wow:
Just amazing.... keep up the great work!

XcYZ 04-22-2006 10:47 AM

The REALLY cool stuff hasn't been made public yet. :unibrow:

Tom is going to be doing this stuff for hire so if anyone else is interested in having renderings done, just let me know.

ottatyme 04-23-2006 09:26 AM

... and you say the "cool stuff isn'y public yet"?
It'd be neat to see the entire model broken down, and published almost like a "Gray's Anatomy of a Pro-Touring Car"... What a great book that would be!

tomsullivan 04-24-2006 01:53 AM

Thanks for the comments :)

We have a couple of things lined up for the model already, like ways to showcase the car and the detail in the model, but if any one has ideas on how we could showcase it, it would be great :)

I did a new render you can see where I have started to make way to the interior along the door.

http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/279...te017hd.th.jpg

I also started work on the turbo’s but I have limited pictures of them, so if anyone can help out with some pictures of turbo’s, it would be great :)

Anyway thanks again for the comments

http://img69.imageshack.us/img69/296...te020mx.th.png

i like the renders but iam not sure how "life like" they are, but i will be building a secne for the car to go in so it should get some better relfections, and hopfully it will contrast the car nicely.

thanks
Tom

Edit-- been playing around with the red material, gave it a yellowish fall off, not sure if i like it better yet

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/7...te035vq.th.png

Looking great, very nice work Tom!

Models

Tom

Very nice model you have made there, I would be interested in getting a high res STL file of your work and making a RP model in our shop, I have 7 stereo lithography machines a powdered metal machine and 2 wax printers
this would be way cool, whrer are you located?

Kris Horton 05-09-2006 05:58 PM

Rick,

From my experience, I'm pretty sure Tom won't be able to give you an STL file. STL files are usually made using spline-based models and the model Tom is building is polygonal. Of course, I can't speak 100% for Tom, but I'm pretty sure he'll agree.

I've run into this problem with my models too. I am confident that it's only a matter of time until polygonal models can be turned into machineable files.

Tom's work is definitely on the level with some nice CAD work.

tomsullivan 05-09-2006 06:29 PM

hi, thanks for the comments

i have managed to convert a max file to stl using Deep Exploration, but reading what Kris has written i am not sure if it will even work, i have never tried it myself.

but if you want i could quickly make something and convert it over to an stl files, so it can be tested.

anwyay thanks
Tom

Kendall Burleson 05-09-2006 08:48 PM

That is great work Tom :hail: :hail:

rsk68 05-10-2006 08:06 AM

Tom

If you can output an STL I'll check its integrety for you, make a small file of the transmision or something, if it works I can post pictures of the solid 3d model, this is cool stuff, you can send the file to me at work

been re-working from about the door backs

thanks
Tom

GvEman 06-06-2006 11:59 AM

Looks awesome! Do you make your cars out of pictures or blueprints as he did with the Audi A3?
Keep it coming!

tomsullivan 06-07-2006 08:54 AM

when blueprints are avaible i will use them, but you will learn you will never get a blueprint which lines up 100%, so i manly use them for the major things like, lenght, width, hight and the windows, door the major things

Kris Horton 06-07-2006 09:42 AM

Amen to that...most of the time after I get the basic proportions and details laid out I go back and go over the car and eyeball the rest.

Kris

tomsullivan 06-07-2006 10:04 AM

yeah, thats what i have been doing the past couple of day, i have totaly re-done the from the door back, and that was becuse of crappy prints.
