Time to push to get it done and to the interior shop!!!!

Will you be bringing your awesome truck to Columbus????

My plan is to bring it to Columbus. The big wild card will be whether or not I get it to the interior shop in time to get the interior done by then. He's pretty busy with other projects/customers, so it may be coming to Columbus with a partially complete interior. If it has seats in it, it'll be there!

It's been a long time coming.......I'm getting excited to push this project over the goal line!

Simple solution: Just tell the interior shop that YOU have priority!.... Duh.

It's kind of hard to hold him to a deadline when I've been missing deadlines for the past couple of years. He's a good friend and I'm sure he'll do what he can to help me out, but I'm also sympathetic that he has other customers to take care of. He's also in the process of upgrading his shop etc..

Worst case, I'll leave the windows up and the doors shut!!! ;)

I don't remember the paint code. Dad posted it in the thread on Musclerides awhile back, but it's gone now..... I can get the actual code if you want it.

It is "Woodland Green". I think it is an Izuzu color.

Coolant Flow Question

So, just to make sure that I am hooking up my heater hoses correctly - - -

With a reverse flow water pump (Steward Pump that come with the VA Frontrunner), what is the direction of the coolant flow through the heater hoses. I just assumed that it would be out of the water pump and back in through the intake -- is that correct?

Thanks,

Brandon

wiedemab 05-13-2011 06:04 AM

It's running - Finally

We got the truck started last night. After a few heat cycles and some adjusting on the electric fan controller -- all was well. solid and steady 50psi oil pressure..... I have a slight oil leak on the one valve cover, but other than that, it was pretty uneventful. I had to start it and get a little video. We were trying to see if the throttle pedal operated smoothly is why we were screwing around in the cab...

Awesome! Sounds great!

wiedemab 05-13-2011 06:15 AM

I'm having issues getting the embedded vid to show up - -not sure if it is my work internet filter or I'm screwing it up.

Can anyone else see it???

FIXED IT!!!!!

Thanks! We have the idle set a little high, but it has a nice sound to it. The X-pipe gives a little different sound, but I like it.

fleet 05-13-2011 08:29 AM

It does sound different....and good.

I like the build style. That Caddy/Olds air cleaner is a nice touch too.

Thanks - we need to get it painted. It is one of the few parts left to paint. It would inevitably become a tool holder as we were working so I we waited to paint it.

waynieZ 05-14-2011 01:04 PM

Awesome work. It sounds great to me.

looks and sounds great! i like the wheels and the look of the truck alot!

wiedemab 05-14-2011 05:09 PM

Thanks guys. I'm hoping to be able to drive it to Columbus GG with an unfinished interior...I'll just keep the doors shut! After as long as I've been working on it, I just can't wait to drive it.

I'm not sure if I said it in this thread or not, but I bought this truck from some friends when I was 15 and it was literally sitting along a fence row completely disassemble. My Dad pretty much funded the projects start to get/keep me interested in building cars (and probably to keep me out of trouble!). Since then, well - - - a lot has happened. I'm 31 and hoping to finish it this year. It has been a long road. I've learned a lot and I'm still learning as we finish it up.

waynieZ 05-14-2011 09:45 PM

Your lucky My father only thought of cars a transportation. But he always let me have the cars I wanted and came to get me more then a few times when I got stuck. Your lucky you got to enjoy this with your dad, it must be great. Its been so long sence I drove my car, I might have my wife tow me around the neighborhood with my truck. As long as you can sit in it its good to drive and enjoy.

Brandon,

I'm looking forward to seeing it (in Columbus)!.....

This truck is totally bad ASSSS just did a first start up with mine the other day great feeling totally cool ride . congrats

wiedemab 05-16-2011 05:22 AM

Thanks guys! It is always a great feeling to hear a project run.

We spent all day yesterday installing the Dynamat Extreme in the cab. We have a little more to put on the firewall, but we got it almost all in. What a difference that stuff makes.

Sounds awesome, what type of mufflers are you running?

T,

wiedemab 05-16-2011 10:03 AM

They are a 2-chamber Flowmaser knock off. I have full length headers into an x-pipe to the mufflers. I took the lazy way out, since my 4-link gets really busy and it really tight up against the bed floor when aired down - - so I just turned the mufflers down in front of the rear axle.

Looks and sounds great!

I got all of the Dynamat installed with the exception of the doors, Radio and speakers installed. It sounds pretty good – Focal up front, Infinity rears w/ the Blaupunkt head unit. I think I may need to add a small sub 8″ or something, but we’ll see.

We got the driver’s side front fender and inner fender on last night. I’m sure we will have to adjust it some when we go to put the hood on, but so far it all seems to fit up like it did the last time we had it together!!!

toddshotrods 05-24-2011 05:36 AM

Truck looks and sounds great! Hope to see you here at Goodguys (Columbus).

wiedemab 05-24-2011 05:40 AM

Thanks! It is looking increasingly unlikely that we will have time to get much of any of the interior done - - -read: "I'm too slow to get it together". That being said, come Hell or High Water (which we've had plenty of), we are going to try to make it to Columbus.

My wife has been extremely patient with the fact that I leave every night once our daughter is ready for bed and head to the shop. I think she is trying to eliminate any excuses that I may have for not getting this thing done before Kid #2 arrives.

tommycomfort 05-24-2011 05:52 AM

Glad to see you were working and getting a lot done while your Dad, Sam and I were having a great time at GG Nashville. Truck looks awesome!
Tom

wiedemab 05-24-2011 05:58 AM

We wrapped up Nora's Birthday Festivities and took her to the Cincy Zoo on Saturday, so Sunday I was at the shop at 6:00 am and spent most of the day over there. It's rare that I get an entire day to work in the shop, but it's nice when I do.

waynieZ 05-24-2011 09:09 AM

Its looking good.

68MaroSam 05-24-2011 10:18 AM

I agree, it is looking very good.

wiedemab 06-11-2011 08:56 PM

Well, we decided to push the truck out in the sun for awhile today and clean the dust off of it. My brother-in-law (and good friend) Brian came over today to help me get the bed boards all cut down and routed etc.. He is much better at wood working and in general just great at figuring how the best way to do things. He is a "true engineer" in every sense of the definition - - -anyway - -- Thanks a ton Brian. I will post some pics of the boards once we get them cleared and installed, but they came out great. I went with quarter sawn sycamore. Also a big thanks to my wife's uncles Dan and Tim aat Wilhelm Lumber who hooked me up with the boards.

It also moved for the first time under its own power tonight. WooooHooooo - -even though it was just to back it into the garage. I need to verify the TV cable adjustment with the pressure gauge and go though all of the checks and then we can test drive!

Below are a few pics of the truck sitting out in the sun.

http://www.blog.wiedos.com/wp-conten...7850485257.jpg

The front bumper pan is buffed and the bumper is ready to go on. We are going to try to get the tail gate sanded, lettered, cleared again, sanded and buffed before Columbus, but if not - - -oh well it'll just be plain for the time being.

Oh - Thanks to my wife for letting me spend way too much time on the shop recently. Everyone keep your fingers crossed that we can get all the minor details wrapped up enough to be on the road and drive to Columbus Goodguys.

56pickup 06-11-2011 09:38 PM

Really liking the truck a lot! Everything is spot on!

waynieZ 06-11-2011 09:54 PM

Brandon it looks great. That must have felt great getting it outside in the sun for the first time. I hope it all goes good and you get it ready in time for Columbus.

toddshotrods 06-12-2011 04:15 AM

 Man, it looks great! Looking forward to seeing it here in Columbus. It has to feel so incredible to be at this point - I'm jealous!

wiedemab 06-12-2011 05:26 AM

Thanks everyone. It is a good feeling.

As you all know, the small details just take longer than you think they will. Unless something unforeseen happens we should be able to wrap it up in the next few week.

tommycomfort 06-12-2011 05:44 AM

Brandon,
That sure is looking good! I have no doubt that it will be at Columbus and we look forward to seeing it in person. By the way, I had a bag of cookies for you the other day when you stopped by, but completely forgot until we were on the road... Don't worry though, they didn't go to waste!
Tom
