SN65 04-21-2006 11:49 AM

The SN65 arrived at 12:30 PM Chicago time (1:30 EST). The wheather is looking pretty dismal right now. Things should be clearing up by noon tomorrow.

Smack_talker 04-21-2006 11:57 AM

I was wondering if the weather was bad. Is it raining there now?

Majik16106 04-21-2006 03:31 PM

Nope, beautiful today.. tons of gorgeous cars.. soon as i get my pics uploaded i will start a new thread.

Thrill of the day-- Meeting Bob Johnson and seeing the cuda in person, both sitting, runing, and driving.. and let me say.. thats the meanest sounding thing EVER. Im hoping ill get a vip invitation to his next dyno session for when he further tunes the car... love to have that on vid.

There have been tornado warnings and rain all over Georgia for the past two days. Where I live, west of Atlanta, it all sweeps in and heads toward Commerce and Braselton (Where YOE is at). I have an open trailer (I'm poor) and don't want to soak what I have. I am sure there are a lot of big time cars there but the weather is keeping me home. Right now its 10:00 am and raining on Saturday...weatherman sez the same for the rest of the day.

Bummer

Well, as weather would have it, its now 6:00 pm and very nice outdoors. Same day....go figure.

Bill Howell 04-22-2006 07:39 PM

Sorry Jim, It dried up here about 10:30.
I have just gotten to the hotel. What a blast. SN65 was one of the top three for the cup, but a 67 chevelle beat him out. still cool though. I have many pictures I wlll get to you Scott, probably Monday.
Supper was unbelieveable. We went to Milton Robinson's barn to see his cars. I will let some of the others tell about it, some barn is all I will say.
Then followed Bob Johnson, in the cuda, to his house for a cookout at his place. Damn, all I can say, DAMN, Thanks so much Bob for having all us hoodlums over for supper. Over the top guys, I guess yall can tell I am pumped on adrinilen right now.
OH yeah took the goat around the track on some "pace laps", what a day.

Where have I seen that red Chevy II before? Nice interior!

zbugger 04-22-2006 09:42 PM

So what was the final order? My favorite is the SN65 Mustang. I've never been a fan of the Chevelle. I can't stand the front or rear end treatment. The nova looks okay too. Kinda hotroddish on both of those cars though. Too smooth for the lines of the car, and I think a car needs a headrest. That and I don't like a console all the way to the back like that. Hot rod interiors are usually better suited to the older late 30's hotrods.

I wish I could have been there though. Seems like a nice show.

Damn True 04-22-2006 10:18 PM

Some pretty paint jobs.

SN65, Billy Goat and the Bubbletop are the only ones I find interesting.

ProStreet R/T 04-22-2006 11:04 PM

WOW there is some serious time spent polishing the stainless tubing on that TT car :hail:

So how about some highres pics? :unibrow:

Finalists were SN65 and red 67 Chevy II and the Y.O.C winner was the 67 Chevelle (silver/Black). Awesome show. :hail:

It did not come with headrest. The seats are stock frames with rebuilt foam.

Personaly I like the low backs in Chevy 11's but im not a big fan of the console and a few things on the chevy 11

I shoud have given it a shot...the weather where I live was so bad...poot.

one+g 04-23-2006 11:37 AM

Show was awesome

The show was awesome and the weather was better than expected! Next year I will definately have a car and participate more than spectate!!!!. Awesome Gto Bill. I saw a few of the lat-g and pro touring shirts across the way but with 2 small kids I mostly juggled them. I didnt think the location of the pro-touring tent was so great being away from everyone else. The Red 69 at the tent was awesome and I loved the interior in it. Nicely done without the usual excessive overkill. I also was partial to the blue 69 from the DSE TENT that was a little in the style of DRIVEN! Whoevers car that was must have had a blast. I know they had to have made over 50 laps on the big track this weekend!

Brilliantly ironic turn of phrase. I don't know if it was your intent, well done just the same.

Stuart Adams 04-23-2006 11:50 AM

The Blue 69 was probably Stacey's car. That's the car they are doing all the testing with.

one+g 04-23-2006 11:54 AM

Thats what I meant

I appreciate the mechanical side of building the car and using it by the standard it was built. I dont care if it cost 300,000 and has every handling technology known to man, its useless if its built put in a glass case and never moves under its own power.
To quote the old No Fear shirts, Drive it like you stole it!

Bill Howell 04-23-2006 04:06 PM

I don't know who drove it harder, Stacey or Kyle. That car is so sweet, understated but all business. Everytime the track was open, it was making laps. I saw Kyle and Stacey around all weekend, but never did catch them at their tent. Way to go guys, the track time was better advertisement anyway.

Thanks, the whole weekend was a blast. I can understand your point about the location of the tent if you where there with two small ones. It was a terrific place to watch the action on the track though.
Dennis Gage came by and did a segment for his next year show on the goat. He is very personable and that was a blast. Today we went over to the drag strip and the car was placed infront of the year one trailer. Two minutes after I got there Chip Foose comes up and is checking it out. One of the guys was explaining about it, and he said, Yeah, I saw this car at SEMA, nice ride. That really gave me the big head...lol
Then they introduced him to me and I got a couple pictures of him, the year one guy and myself. I will post them when we get em downloaded tommorrow.

Sales@Dutchboys 04-23-2006 05:30 PM

Sounds like a blast!

coolclassiccars 04-23-2006 05:42 PM

thanks for the pics ,felt like i was there guys, bill i can only guess that when foose was looking at your car ,your hat started to get tight, when someone in the business gives a comment to ya ,it has to make ya fell like ,''job well done''.
