ATI Eyefinity needs at least one DisplayPort monitor to work. They do make active DVI-to-DisplayPort adapters, but when the 5XXX-series cards were first released the active adapters weren't very reliable. Some worked, some didn't. ATI releases new drivers every couple of months, so I'm not sure if it is still a problem. I opted to go with a couple of Dell P2210's (native DisplayPorts) to go with my 22" AOC. The AOC and one Dell are hooked up through DVI and the other Dell uses the DisplayPort.

Do some reading at www.widescreengamingforum.com (WSGF).

Well... after typing the first part of this post, a quick visit to WSGF has informed me that ATI just released a $30 DVI-to-DisplayPort adapter. Problem solved.

I think so. I just went to a headset a few weeks ago and you can hear much more. Plus the volume of the chatters and the car can be balanced. you can turn the chatter up and turn the master volume up or down.

Dave Tell Jason to bring it on.

All I know is if he comes near me I will put him in the wall.

my computer only has a nvidia quadro fx 1700 is that good enough?
its a dual quad 2.66Ghz, 4gb Ram computer

ironworks 09-03-2010 06:14 AM

Thats fine. I run my iracing on a laptop at my house. Here is the FAQ page. It gives a list on this page. You can turn the graphics way down. But with all the fancy equipment you can really turn it up. When you upload Iracing it will naturally turn your settings on to what your computer can handle.

okay i just did a session with Roger.
This is too much fun, we need to get a few more people from here on.
Roger is real good at this. He was 5 seconds faster than I was.

ironworks 09-06-2010 10:30 AM

Bob, Last night was fun. Alittle bit of practice and you will be right up there. Wait til you run with the big dogs. Those guys are FAST.

I will look for you tonight.

Rodger

Psydwaze 09-06-2010 05:06 PM

I just watched Rodger's 4:15pm Mustang race. Awesome race!

For those that don't know, iRacing also lets you live spectate other sessions that are running including practice and races.

Recap:
Rodger started 15th on the grid and over 30 laps had worked through the field up to 5th and was making pass attempts for 4th place for three consecutive laps. Yeah, I was cheering him on at home. The pinnacle of the race was a lap 29 pass attempt at turn one. Good run off the last turn, outbraked the 4th place car, but ended up putting two wheels off and spinning, taking both cars out of the race. Great run, tons of fun just watching.

Rodger, I saw you ran a hosted session the other night. Apparently I'm not very good at guessing passwords. Was it posted in this thread?

ironworks 09-06-2010 05:32 PM

I wish the race was as glorious as you make it sound. Actually i only got one wheel off.

The password was latg. How about tonight at 730. Bob needs to by the mustang and we can race at limerock. Next time you can't figure the password txt me.

I'm supposed to watch a movie later with the wife and kids. But, I think I'm gonna run the practice for a while. They just changed the track to VIR.

96z28ss 09-10-2010 06:38 PM

I did buy the Mustand and the Corvette C6R.
I'm trying to build up my rookie drivers license. The smack talk is going to start real soon, I'm just as fast a Roger in the Pontiac Solstice at Laguna.
As soon as I post a better time, smack gets turned on!!

Oh I'm hooked on this stuff. I have been up everynight till 2 am playing this damn simulator.

Well let's get going on the mustang, Nobody cares about a Solstice.

Either way let's race Monday night. Solstice at Laguna.

:woot:

GregWeld 09-10-2010 08:34 PM

Bob that's funny about being hooked already!

I'm into Ham radio -- or I should say "was" -- until the ultimatum -- "that stuff goes or I go".... So WB7UWC signed off and tore the tower down...

I just couldn't hang the mic up -- skip was coming in from (name a far away place) and I just "HAD" to talk to them! So what if it was 4AM!

Psydwaze 09-12-2010 09:22 AM

Monday night Slowstice race.? IT'S ON!

Better bring your "A" game boys. Mwahahahaahhaha...

ironworks 09-12-2010 12:49 PM

Monday night it is. I better go dust off my Solstice. Next Week is the Mustang

So where are we racing? Lime Rock, Lagauna, Mid Ohio, Or should we do an Oval race at Richmond at night?

Psydwaze 09-12-2010 01:41 PM

I don't think they're will be that many of us, so a small track might be better. How about South Boston or Summit Point Jefferson?

ironworks 09-12-2010 02:30 PM

But Bob Brags about Laguna.

96z28ss 09-12-2010 04:54 PM

i don't want to turn left the whole time.
Laguna is my choice

ccracin 09-13-2010 05:00 AM

Rodger,

Is there a way those of us that cannot participate right now can log in to watch the race? It would be cool to spectate.

You would have to sign up and pay the monthly money, but just not race. So I guess 12 bucks a month does it.

After a few laps last night with Bob in a Qualifying session I improved my personal Best in the Solstice from 157.?? to 151.9. Yeah I guess I have learned a few things since I used to race the Solstice. But I think Lino is going to bring the Heat tonight. We might make his start on lap down in a 3 lap event to make things fair.....

ironworks 09-13-2010 09:23 AM

I found this video this morning. Great comparison.

96z28ss 09-13-2010 09:49 AM

I thought 1:59 at laguna was fast with the Solstice. Then saw Rogers time and I just knew I had to go faster. Got down to 1:55.4 then Roger shows up at a Qualifying race and Runs a low 1:51. Damn him!! It did push me to go even faster got it down to a 1:54.0

This is very addicting.

That should make for a pretty close finish.

I went back and ran a few laps at Laguna over the weekend and ended up improving my personal best also. I'm running a hair faster than a 1:51.9. ;)

I'm sure that is a big HAIR. I raced the Solstice last night and was only in the high 52's. Lagauna is so long it is hard to keep it together. But I did end up with a 3rd in a high strength field.

Thats what makes it a challenge. A race is 12 laps and keeping it together for twelve laps is hard. I did have 3rd place finish. I was even pole position on one race but staying in first when there are guys bumping you is hard.

Psydwaze 09-13-2010 11:52 AM

I ran a best of 1:49.04, but still was not the fastest in the practice session. The other guy just edged me out of the top spot with a 1:48.98. But get this... the fastest lap at Laguna in the Solstice for this 2010 Season 3 was a 1:46.2. !!??? Never fails, just when think you're going 10/10ths, someone else comes along and makes you look slow. This fuels the addiction. :)

ironworks 09-13-2010 05:43 PM

I will host an event at 8pm at Laguna. Password - Rodger is KING.

Psydwaze 09-20-2010 02:17 PM

Is there a session planned for tonight?

ironworks 09-20-2010 02:19 PM

Ok So the VETTE at Daytona. The setup will be open. Just to try and have fun in the draft.

8pm, If there is a password, It will be Rodger is KING.

96z28ss 09-20-2010 03:08 PM

looks like i need to get Daytona

ironworks 09-21-2010 06:29 AM

Last Nights Session was alot of fun. Lino Got the win last night after getting the pole position. The 10 Lap shoot out was fun until the big one on lap 4 when 5 of the 8 cars went spinning. The Vette at 200 MPH at Daytona in the draft was alot of fun.

Who knew driving in circles could be so fun..? And, surprisingly quite a challenge, especially when running the high line or with another car next to you. We had a good group last night, lots of fun.

Eight cars on the track. 5 of them were in a group all drafting each other. 1 of them forgot their driving talent taking 4 cars out.

Its amazing how much chassis stuff you can change with these cars in this iracing simulator. I get in the practice session with stock set up. I can only go around the track at 175 mph and im bouncing off rev limiter.
Lino tell me to change the rear wing and rear end gears. Come back out and Im going 193 mph. Then this guy Mark comes in and he gives us a whole new chassis setup and we were going 197 and it was easier to get around the track. The whole drafting thing is pretty cool. You can feel it when you go in and out of it.
Had a blast last night.

ironworks 09-21-2010 09:48 AM

Don't forget the Evel Knievel Painted car that spun out on the pace lap.....

Yeah that set up we got was pretty good. I saw 200 mph in the draft
