LS3 - 6.2L (rumored to be around 450hp)
LS9 - Supercharged 6.2L (rumored to be around 600hp) Both are rumored to be the upcoming engines for the Corvette with one or possibly both being available in the Camaro. David |

Confused yet? I am. Hmm, maybe that should be my new sig. |
From what I've read over at GMI, the LS9 is a LS7 with forced induction. As if that motor wasn't wicked enough.

:hail: I reckon a Baldwin-Motion 5th gen is in order. Anyone with me? :D Great time for the brand to be re-launched. I reckon I might even get to have a hand in that one. |
pics I took this morning

...and it's the same color as the Mule...
Wouldn't that look cool sitting next to your car, Charley. http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/5...ro120061ng.jpg https://lateral-g.net/lillard/05.jpg |
Kinda cool seeing those two cars next to each other. I don't know what it is but I get the sneaky suspicion these two have met somewhere before. Like, in a large building....with designers and engineers...sketches tacked up all around....clay strewn about the floor.
Hmmmm....... Ahh nevermind. ;) |
I love the whole car. Now that I have seen the rear of it, it doesnt look as bad as others have mentioned. I personaly would like to see some chrome around the tail lights to give a more 1969 tail light look. That would do it for me.
I think the price will probably be in the low to mid 30s. even though they would want to keep it in the Mustang market. I think the camaro and the challenger are way out of its league and would be priced a bit more considering what it has more to offer. |
It is cool seeing those two side by side... you can really tell the similarities/differences. I'm wondering why the rocker was done that way and the door doesn't come all the way down like on the '69. I think the 21/22" wheels are an indicator of how far this is from production... I know, it's just a concept but it's hard to swallow that it will be 3 years away if ever.

Like the car. Make the nose more blunt and chunky. Anxious to here about motor options, hp.
Great start, maybe I should buy some stock, ya think. |
Don't care for the rear. Either need to shorten the nose or lengthen the rear to better balance the look. The interior is sick!!! I wonder what that would look like in my '68?

I like the shape of the car but not the razor looking front ( or smiley front as some call it) end or the back. Do you guys like those ugly quad tailights? I dont. I hope it changes before production. Will they make a Pontiac (Firebird) version later?

Front end
Rear end  Firechicken :thmbsdwn: |

How about something with a paint scheme like this on it: http://www.historictransam.com/images/_HST3499.jpg |
Scott,
Can I see one in PINK? :_paranoid ~Theresa~ |

:faint: If you build it.........I will buy!

Hey Charley, how much room between your rear bumper and the wall? Man that looks close. |
I retract almost all of the bad things I said about GM. I really, really, like that car!
Too many good things to say. Bad thing, though- It still may be a little late if we have to wait until 2009 to drive one. But, if Mopar makes the Challenger, and they make that Camaro, I can see an exciting battle coming! It really would be the return of the Musclecar, even in spirit on the street. |
Something I posted on another Camaro board:
I definitely dig the Camaro concept a lot and am glad to see GM back in the game. It's a great day indeed. There are things I'd change about it, as with any car, but overall, it's a sinister car with a lot of promise. Kudos to the GM designers that worked on it and to the people responsible for making the concept a reality. Here's a chop of what I think would look pretty sweet for an RS/SS option. The hideaway headlight option is becoming so insanely popular on 69 Camaros that even the standard front end guys are going out and swapping their setups for the RS look. I think GM could pull off this look pretty easily given headlight technology and not have to worry about functioning headlight doors. Anyway, I'm sure all this stuff's been said so I'll shut up and post my quick little photochop that I did during lunch today. http://www.lifeinwidescreen.com/siihp/gen5chop16gn.jpeg |
Kris, that is awesome!! :hail: Nice work!

Wondering what it might look like with some realistic wheel sizes. |
Nice concept. I'll wait to see one in the flesh before passing final judgment. As shocking as it sounds I think I like the Camaro better than the challanger!:wow: :willy:
|
I just cant believe all the positive feed back on this!!!!!!!! As part of the CZ6 camaro design team, THANK YOU ALL!!!!
There is quite the story that goes with this car design.Let me just say in short that we were asked to do the impposible in a short time frame and we pulled it off.Glad to see the positive comments about GM also. THANKS AGAIN Chris |
I really like the car, it has potential to be real cool. Just a tweak here or there and wala.
Kris, push the center section of the nose back so its more boxed and straighter across, see what that looks like. |
Kris...that's killer!
I'd be interested to see your take on the landing area of the belt line at the A-pillar. Specifically the rear view mirror. It's a tight squeeze in there. I wanna see what a more "production type" rear view mirror would look like in that area. It's possible that you might have to eat up part the corner of the side glass to mount one. |
If that "landing area" were more angled downward you'd have more surface area right? Perhaps enough for a mirror stalk the size of the one on the Vette or Solstice? Of course a mirror as round as those wouldn't fit with the rest of the car, but if you gave a little F-117 treatment to the outer shell of the mirror you might be able to come up with something that blended in a little better w/o looking like a gizmo from a James Bond car.

That vert photoshop looks an awful lot like a new Mustang vert. If they do make a convertible, I hope it doesn't look like that.

Love it. Love it. Love it. And I'm an Oldsmobile guy.

I like it, I sure do hope the General sends a few to some of the aftermarket companies (if it goes into production) so that they can start making accessories and performance upgrades available the same time the car comes out. If I am not mistaken Ford did that with the newest iteration of the Mustang. This car should make a nice graduation present for myself.
|
I am going to get one even if my wife needs to get 3 jobs I am going to get one.
They have to make with more power then the ls2 comes with now. I think something like 425-450hp and weighing under 3500lbs would be the way to go. The GTO has a strong motor but weighs a bit much and considering the 06 Vette weighs around 3100lbs I am sure GM can get it to the 3500lb weight or less. |
Well........I have to say that I don't like it. I was really hoping for something that looked closer to the original's.....when I look at that car........I don't see Camaro.........and not sure I would know that's what it suppose to be without someone telling me.
I like the interior and the LS2 option.....but the exterior just doesn't do it for me. The front end looks like a 2004 or so Impala.....the headlights kinda look Cadillac-ish...... I was really hoping for the nice round headlights.....the original style tail lights.......and a trunk. What's up with not having the trunk in a Camaro. Anyway........maybe it'll grow on me.........But I don't see me buying one. I hate to say it.....But Ford hit it right on the head when they built the Mustang. I would never guess that was a Camaro if it was driving past me. :thmbsdwn: |
All the following IMHO, no strong debate or anything…
I liked it right off. Especially now that I’ve been able to see it with people standing next to it, to be able to see how it scales out. To me, It’s bigger than it had looked to be in the early photos. There is definitely a styling edict at work within GM to create “family resemblance” with Corvette (same lead designer). I think the front of the car looks really menacing. I think it is about as retro as can be and still be “new” enough to appeal to people that are younger than ~40. The roofline and qtr windows, doors, quarters have enough strong first-gen cues for me… The dash too I think strikes a neat balance. I personally don’t want a verbatim re-creation of 1969. I’m still on the fence with the taillights but I do like the “sunken-in” depth that you can see within the housings themselves, maybe the outline shape could be tweaked some. I think that, If you go TOO retro with a design, then, after a few years…what do you do next? except…probably kill it altogether. The new car has to be able to stand on its own and have its own styling evolution path to follow. I think that from what we see in the new car, GM is thinking this way and there is a plan for the car to have some longevity as an evolving design. I think we also can’t expect to have the same kind of big collective gasp and overwhelming positive reaction that the current Mustang had when it was first shown. Ford was the first in the "nuvo-retro" game and that whole idea was a brand new concept to everyone then, and everyone was so hungry for ANYTHING new and fresh. Now retro is all over the place, and neat designs in general (retro or not) are popping up everywhere. Also in terms of reaction (esp on the msg boards) a new Camaro (since it went AWAY, unlike Mustang) has been fretted over / debated / anticipated / discussed ad NAUSEUM, for the last 3 years or so, and so there will be no shortage of critics just posting their brains out about it on the net. I think that “negative nellies”, on any subject, any message board (except lat-g!), tend to out-post positive or moderate people by a significant margin. I’m much more interested to hear what Mr. and Mrs. Joe Average have to say when they see one pass them by as they are walking down main street USA having never seen one before. I think that FBody sales tumbled mostly because of a lack of practicality. Most people were not willing to live with one as an “only vehicle”. The same problem very nearly killed Corvette before C5, because you couldn’t fit a set of golf clubs into the back of a C4, and that has been rectified with C5 forward. Anyway, people just couldn’t live with those Gen3/Gen4 back seats. Four office workers can’t go out to lunch in a 3rd or 4th gen, without there being a lot of bitching going on. New mustang has a usable back seat and decent headroom, sales guy here has a GT and I’ve ridden in the back and it’s a complete non-issue. From the looks of Camaro it will be a similar configuration back there. Hopefully they also will do a good job with the V6 version of the car which will be the volume sales leader esp in fleet and thus extremely important to the bottom line for Camaro. The Mustang V6 is just a great entry-level car and is a screaming bargain with 200 or so HP. It’s rear wheel drive, LSx powered, it’s actually called a Camaro, and hopefully will be affordable enough to get the aftermarket spooled up in a big way. That alone is enough to make me rejoice! J Again, just my $.02. I think it will do well, we’ll see! |
