WAYYYYYYYYYYY too many tall guys coming to this event now.... I might have to re-thinkit.

Maybe AWR68 (Anthony) has some sheetrockers stilts I can borrow.

Charley
Jody
Roger
Doug

That's 28' right there!

PTAddict 12-04-2010 09:06 AM

Steve and I are signed up and will be driving down from Portland in my '69. Who else is coming down through the NW?

GregWeld 12-04-2010 11:28 AM

Great -- I'll drag an empty trailer and leave a couple hours after you so I can pick you up....

That is the kind of thoughtful, selfless offer I've come to expect of my fellow car guys. It'd be great if you brought those tools, too, since we will have someone along with skill in using them :)

mdprovee 12-04-2010 02:11 PM

Sounds like Blake will be hitting the Sacramento area on Thursday morning, maybe us "northerners" will meet up with him then.

I've got a long bar magnet hanging from chains below the front bumper of the BBT (big bouncy truck).... it's real useful for gathering the small fastners and stuff... :D

Us car guys have to stick together!

keep me in the loop.

Would be sweet to cruise with the Nova, Blake!

You guys are welcome to meet at my place and caravan down through LA after rush hour. I have plenty of parking.

Thanks Rodger - that might be a good call if the timing works out.

ironworks 12-04-2010 04:55 PM

Trying to make dinner friday night thru LA might be tough.

What are you thinking would be a good plan then?

CRCRFT78 12-05-2010 08:54 AM

I want in even if I can't watch the event. The drive down with some of you guys and the stop at Rodgers would be good enough for me. I'll have to see if I can volunteer to put out cones or something. I'm good at that working at CalTrans. Put out cones, screw up traffic & sleeping in the cone truck on the side of the freeway is all we do.

ironworks 12-05-2010 09:27 AM

My thought is that going through LA after 4 pm would suck. We could meet at my place Thursday for some kind of early evening meeting at my place. Then Leave about 6pm from here and should have smooth sailing to El toro when we reach LA at about 8 pm. Then arrive about 9pm. Otherwise you guys would have to leave Sac really really early to be through LA by 4 pm.

Blake Foster 12-05-2010 09:52 AM

it's more that 2 hours from your place to Eltoro??? isn't it?

I would say lets set up some definate meeting places and times!! that way it is up to different ppl to be there ON TIME or miss the ride, if you sit arround too long it messes up everything.
i am comming from the furthest, i will stop in Redding on Wednsday Night. and head out from there at 7am. so i would be in Sacremento by 10 am then to Rodgers by 4 pm (counting on stopping in Sacremento for 1/2 hour to group up).

if ppl picked places to join up along the route and just fill in that may work.

then leve Rodgers at 6 pm and be at the hotel in Irvine by 9pm.

Cris@JCG 12-05-2010 10:44 AM

Let me throw something out their for you guys!

On Friday.. you can leave in the morning.. stop by my shop during lunch time & JCG will host lunch for you guys.. get us going by 2:00 or 2:30 to avoid heavy traffic thru LA.. No matter what.. you hit traffic into LA but @ those times it is not that bad.. You guys coming in the 101.. Scenic drive on the coast!!

I will be trailering my car if completed!! I don't know if it will be street legal by then...

Blake- It is going to be cold in Feb... so don't forget to bring your long-johns & your Elmer Fud hat to keep your ears warm!! LOL

Flash68 12-05-2010 02:52 PM

Good ideas.... might be prudent to have a Thursday group and a Friday group with agendas. I think there will end up being some traveling on Thurs and others on Friday.

The plans for stopping at Ironworks Thurs or stopping at JCG on Friday both sound good to me. Thanks fellas.

Blake Foster 12-05-2010 04:07 PM

Flash!!
you started the post you need to make the schedual otherwise it will be a total Cluster %#@&
i am willing to help and set the schedual as i am comming past EVERYONE!
i would like to be in Irvine Friday PM i know not much happens dealing with the event till friday afternoonish. but i HATE rolling in late.

let me know
i think a late "Lunch stop" at Ironworks is a good idea, i would kick in a couple hundred bucks for burgers or something??? guys gotta eat!! give the poor guys in the trucks/trailers time to catch up. and then on to Irvine?

ironworks 12-05-2010 04:57 PM

If we had a 4-6pm meeting spot at my shop, we could leave here and travel 156 miles to El toro. It says 275 hours. So just after 9pm. Then on Friday we could see about doing some things like maybe some shop tours. So Cal Speed shop, Walden Speed shop, Foose Design, NHRA Museum, etc.

I'm sure we could come up with a few more things to do. I made Hotel reservation for Thursday thru Sunday.

Rodger

Blake Foster 12-05-2010 05:32 PM

that sounds good to me sign me up.

GregWeld 12-05-2010 05:43 PM

Notice how I'm staying out of it.... :unibrow:

I Will wait til the dust settles and then I'll choose my poison.

I'm with Roger ---- Get to El Toro on THURSDAY -- and mess around all day Friday (that's what we did last year) and make a nice weekend out of it.

Last year we hit Ironworks on the way down -- then on Friday hit Bent Fab - JCG - Tom Nelson (Nelson is in the same parking lot as Bent)... and had a nice cruise down in HEAVY traffic - but that's because of bad planning. We also did Best of Show in there somewhere... which was another good trip.

Flash68 12-05-2010 06:30 PM

Okay Okay! :willy:

I had planned on making the drive down on Friday, but some of you (even you Greg) are speaking some sense about getting down a day earlier... so I got a call into my small group of 2 so far to see if we can commit to Thurs. If so, the plan to go to Ironworks on Thurs sounds great.

Blake you really wanna get this locked in early huh!

96z28ss 12-05-2010 06:55 PM

Greg, Ned and myself tried FOOSE on a friday. There closed. they are on a 4 day work week. And shop visits only during lunch hour. noon to 1pm

just working on my new moto "Don't Leave it to the last minute" thats all. i can only think that trying to get 10-20 guys to meet up over 1500 miles isn't going to be easy, and i am not one to be waitin arround on the side of the road it's a long enough drive with out that.

GregWeld 12-05-2010 07:42 PM

Plan your work - and work your plan.....

Oh -- don't get me started -- I've got several juicy sayings like that. :D

Blake I am with ya bro! My small group is locked in for the Thurs drive now. I feel a lot better now too not rushing it on Friday without any margin for error. I think we will be heading from the South Bay over on Hwy 152 to the 5.

I'll be at the Fri dinner and cruise along with attending both days of racing. Also offering help with car and trailer parking in Long Beach (+-1/2 hr away from El Toro) for the few of you that may want secure parking while you visit some of the So. Cal. sites.

I posted a similar offer on the PT board.

Brett,

I may take you up on that. I will have a car trailer approx. 22' long end to end. We may be planning a trip to Disneyland, or maybe Mulhullan (sp) or Griffith Park. I will know better early next month.

Thanks for the offer.

67zo6Camaro 12-06-2010 01:53 PM

No problem Mike.
