Wow, Mary's car looks awesome, but there's something not quite right about it, the gap between the rear bumper and the taillights panel... Awesome anyway, loving the carbon inner fenders

Chris the car looks great. I think the bumper being that color was a great idea.

do you use a special UV protectant clear on the carbon.. i read somwhere that the CF roof on the ZR1 was painted with a gazillion dollar a pint clear to keep it from getting damaged by UV rays
|
Thanks Scott!

|
I'll throw my Awesome work in on here too....
The car looks great! LOVE the color combo. If pressed to find one thing I would change I would say it would be to paint the rear wheel wells the darker gray color to match the carbon front inner fenders. But as soon as there is some rubber thrown up in there no one will know! Can't wait to see the next project. Thanks for taking the time to document the build for us. Chris |
Chris - Me Again
Okay couple more questions. Was the car Mini-Tubbed What size are the Rims & Tires |
Marty- Car was was tubbed with DSE mini tubs & spring relocation kit.. 315-18 on the rear with backspace ??? ... We have room to run wider tires but Mary went with Falken tires & a 315 was the widest they have in the compound she needed...

Anvil 73
Matt came by the shop a few weeks ago & decided that he wanted to add a few things to the Camaro.. Vintage Air, firewall to sub-frame bars, JCG A/C firewall plate.. Right now we are working on building custom oil can that will tie into the valve covers... Also got the approval to give the engine compartment some nice detail...

Here is another build we are working on.. This Camaro came in from AZ & the owner has owned it since he was 16.. now in his 40's... LS Conversion & some suspension upgrades..
I called Gus @ Cleveland Pick A Part & got me a L76/6L80 out of a G8.. Motor is going over to QMP to get stroked this week.. 402!! http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_0708.jpg http://i1015.photobucket.com/albums/...n/IMG_0716.jpg |

Will you be painting the car? |
Cris,
I really like what you did with Marys car, and the plan for Matts sounds pretty cool too. The firewall AC plate on Matts car is a nice piece, is it available to the masses at this point or just a one off part for his car? |
Nice project. Interested to see what kind of tunnel mods are necessary to fit that 6L80. Those things seem huge.

I'm curious about your firewall to subframe bars that you are adding to this car. It doesn't appear that there is a cage in this car, am I correct? If so, do the bars literally just tie into the firewall? Is there enough support in the metal of the firewall to make the bars worthwhile? The firewall in these cars is just sheet metal with no real support behind it as I recall. So I'm wondering how much actual benefit these bars would be in preventing subframe flex... I recall seeing somewhere that you make the round adapters that go in the firewall. If so, do you sell those as well? Depending on the answers to the above, I might consider a set for my car, but I won't have a cage to attach to behind the dash... Thanx! |
