Wow - looks great. Never really though of scratch building the rear pot metal pieces. Think I'll have to try it.

BlazerSpeed 01-18-2011 08:00 AM

wow...unbelievable fabrication going on there. It don't want to bother you, I just want to sit and watch. I can't wait to see how this turns out.

Great thread.

Can you tell us a little about your alum/steel bonding process ?
What product are you using?
I assume you form a flat flange on the bottom of the scoop and that's what you are bonding to the hood surface.
How does this bonding cope with the different expansion rates of alum and steel ?
I've often wanted to join alum to steel on body work but was always concerned with this.

Great car although I much prefer the '68 Shelby front end to the '67 front end.

Thanks for all the photos I always learn so much from these well documented builds.

conekiller13 01-18-2011 11:55 AM

That is some amazing sculpture. So is the next build an all metal Mad-Max Falcon?

Keep up the phenomenal work!

The adhesive we use is part of the lord fusor range it is specifically designed for bonding materials with different temperature expansion rates i.e fibreglass to metal, aluminum to metal etc ,most of the new cars now days are bonded.

its a 60-61 model, been going on the build for a couple of years,C4 front suspension,5.4 Aussie GT Modular engine,5 speed auto(soon to be 6 speed manual) 4 link rear, will have the complete GT interior grafted into it as well.
I thought about doing a project post on this one but didnt know whether anyone would really "click" with it.let me know if you want and Ill make it Happen.
Shane.

Sieg 01-18-2011 08:35 PM

Love to see you start one on the Studie! Appears to be a GT Hawk? A buddy stuffed a 560 Caddy motor in clean all original one 20+ years ago, made for a real sleeper.

Big Hold up on the motor at the moment, so I cant get the Engine fitted and do the fab necessary to fabb exhaust etc,So rather than having a no show for a few weeks I sent it over to the Bodyshop and had the boys gap and smooth it up and get it to poly primer,Back to My side this week to Fab up the lower Airdam stone panel.

Marty, Shane doesn't post here any more after he posted some issues with Drivers inc and got shafted, it seems some vendors are more untouchable than others.

Hi Wayne, It's sad, but he felt he was blown off by the mods over the Drivers Inc thread he started. He post his builds over on usmuscle.com.au

Boss 5.0 05-16-2011 04:52 PM

That stinks! I loved following this thread. What amazing craftsmanship.

Southrod 05-16-2011 05:34 PM

OK Enough of the PM's I get the hint.
Heres a few of the car in poly primer.
Still waiting on the engine.
Called into the engine builders last friday they are just waiting on ignition components then its on the dyno. All alloy 496 cube FE Borla injection Fast electronics should be good for 700 Hp.will run 6 speed tremec Magnum behind it.Ill post some more soon.
