I'm surprised no one mentioned Tim Bruning's 70 Challenger. Amazing craftsmanship and Attension to detail. He did stop posting on updates on it. Its sort of been forgotten.

Greg, Your right that is a awesome build. There's no right or wrong Choice here.I just wanted to get an idea of everybody's thought's.I really like everything that I have seen since I joined this great site. The Roadster shop's C1RS corvette build and my buddy Matt at Anvil Auto mustang were both pretty cool.Scott

I had visited (with Bob Braga and Ned Jackson) Steve Stropes shop while Matt was busy sanding parts to make molds for the Mustang -- and there isn't a piece of that car that isn't just super hi-tech and super cool. There's so much going on with this build that nobody sees. The electric power steering - the cantilevered shocks etc... it's just way over the top in a very quiet way. I agree with you though -- there are just so many great car builds here and I love them all. |
If you really want to see Matts Mustang -- here's a link to the gallery of build pics on PureVisions website.

For me, I don't think I could narrow it down to one particular car on here. I get inspired and jazzed up when I see homebuilt cars all the way up to the higher-end shops with their infinite amount of design and fabrication talents. At the same time, I like seeing the finished products, but also like to see changes people make with rides as time goes on.(i.e. Todd's Camaro-Payback, he is always doing tweaks.) Doug's Camaro-Apollo 13 is also cool because Doug does things as he can and keeps the car on the road, yet has a sweet ride IMO. The stuff put out by Roadster Shop, Detroit Speed, Ring Brothers, Rad Rides etc is awesome and inspiring as well.

I thoroughly enjoy reading both style of threads, home vs pro. I think Rodger hit the nail on the head, we all look to the high end builds to inspire us, and incorporate them into our own projects. I know I do and try to bring them in to my world. But truly it's the people on this forum that are amazing. The camaraderie and support is very special. Marc |

For me it is also Bob Johnson's G-Force Cuda - however I have to add the caveat that a lot of these beautiful awesome cars might not drive as nicely as you imagine in your head. I say this based on my own experiences putting all the right parts together and still feeling a little stymied - by which I mean comparing the driving experience to a modern OEM car. I'm not saying all, I'm just saying that once you've been around the internet, your own projects, and learn to read between the lines in the magazines or read followup articles, a lot of "beauty queen" cars have flaws like everything else - leaks, noise, etc. For example the Matt/Anvil Mustang - totally awesome right ? But even the articles mention the interior mounted cantilever shocks are loud and I would imagine, kind of annoying in normal driving (which is the point some of the time ?).
So, I kind of think that the G-force would be so godawful loud I wouldn't be able to think, and probably a bit hot to boot, not to mention the gas pedal area being raised in what looks to me an awkward manner. And anyone that spends time on the track knows it beats the crap out of the car and gets dirt and debris on everything, so when I see a perfect car I really wonder how much track time it would survive. My real point is not to disparage anything, but just to say I couldn't really pick out a favorite car without driving them all first ! Going now to find a link somewhere to this "WAR" car. Haven't heard of that one before. |
