I don't think that we're making enough power to warrent the RXT - the RST should be (and has been) more than capable and has worked well for the last couple of years. This wasn't the clutches fault...

CarlC 04-08-2011 09:52 AM

No clutch would have survived Saturday's onslaught. I was 150' away and could smell the clutch getting abused long before the final indignity.

I think the best quote of the day was that these were "Big boy" cars in the Challenge. Many of the "drivers" had no clue what to do.

James OLC 04-08-2011 10:36 AM

Yeah... that's why we had a replacement waiting. I just wasn't expecting the magnitude of the failure (even if the look and smell was worse than the actual condition of the clutch would suggest)...

The good news is that we were able to get some testing in on Tuesday, the clutch is back in today and RideTech is revalving the shocks based on our feedback from our test.

I think that we no have a decent skid pad setup, a really good autocross setup, and a comfortable toad course setup. Hopefully we can put it all together...

James OLC 04-09-2011 08:56 AM

One of our priorities last week was to start packing up "The Coffin" - Mary's nickname for our trailer. We've got it about 90% sorted out and I was talking to someone the other day who asked what we are taking with us so for grins (and because we just went through it again), here's the list...

No spare Optima Battery? Good luck this year!

wellis77 04-09-2011 01:04 PM

How big is that trailer?

James OLC 04-09-2011 01:20 PM

It's an old ultra-light airplane trailer that we picked up last year on a fluke. The spares list is just about the same as lasts years so everything whould fit by the time we're done...

looks like you added an Alternator this year!!

lets hope you don't need any of it.
Good luck

and kick ass again

...even made sure that it was converted to a single wire so it should be a direct replacement.

It's definately overkill and I'm sure that when we have an issue it will be unrelated to anything listed above but our goal - first and foremost - is to finish the race and I would hate to be sidelined because we didn't have a "simple" something-or-other handy.

Thanks Blake - we'll do our best.

Have you considered towing a spare replica of the car?:D

HEY HEY now Carl. I don't think that is completely accurate.

Well the trailer is packed, the car is prepped, and both are on the way to Long Beach for the GP this weekend and then a trip East... the 2011 Tire Rack One Lap of America starts in 2 weeks!

Trailer is packed...

http://www.onelapcamaro.com/OLC2011/...28Large%29.JPG

and I think we are as ready as we can be.

I posted this in the Long Beach GP thread but to give everyone an idea what we are planning for One Lap this year...

Quote:

We are hoping to use the Long Beach weekend as an opportunity to try out some of the media that we (hope to be) using during the One Lap which starts in 2 weeks (!)

We have a “Live” page which will have (hopefully) live streaming video via LiveStream and Qik. We will be trying a couple of different streaming methods (PC, iPhone, 3G and MiFi) at various times to see what works and what does not. That same page will have Live GPS Tracking (which we’ve already tested and seems to be working) via Spot Adventures. On top of that we’ll have real time blogging via an RSS feed – we’ll try some updates from our phones and iPads during the weekend.

We’ll also try to do some Live Tracking via Glypmse (link upcoming when I figure it out). It has the potential to be as good or better than Spot Tracking but may be a Data Hog so we’ll try in via 3G and MiFi as well.

If you get a chance check it out over the weekend. The real fun should start between 3:30 and 4:30 on Sunday when we do our Parade Laps on the circuit but we’ll be experimenting all weekend. Our laps, and the race itself, should be on VS at some point in time but will be streaming live at www.world-challengetv.com.

RPM HOTRODS 04-14-2011 12:24 PM

I really think the trailer could use some matching wheels under it!!!!

ElkyZO6 04-14-2011 12:25 PM

Have fun and be safe.:lateral:

JKnight 04-21-2011 01:37 PM

Good luck to you guys! I'll be rooting for you.

What about packing a spare trailer tire and bearing assembly. Those little bitty trailer tires tend to go flat just by lookin at em' wrong.

Also, I'd be very interested in a comparison between the Baer 6R's and the AP racing setup you had on the car. Looking forward to feedback on that.
