Awesome, awesome, awesome. I love the build man. I had a pro street 79 a few years ago that i never finished and sold and i have regretted it ever since. Im currently looking for a clean one to start a serious build on. Thanks for the inspiration.

Sweet build! Can't go wrong with a Pontiac...
|
Any updates on this???
|
Love it. Awesome fab work ! Always loved the late 2nd f body keep pic coming
|
This is a Great looking project, Go Pro Touring Pontiac's!!
|
wow, it has been a while since I updated this. thanks for bringing it back to the top!
I got the car home and worked on the interior panels since I had to build a headliner and rear interior panels due to the cage and minitub's. Also mocked up the Anvil carbon rear parts while I waited for a buddy of mine to make room for it to get the body work done. It has been at his house for the last few months and the body work is getting close to being done (works on it after hours). The shell will go back to 417 motorsports to get the door bars and upper subframe bars then back home to start assembling it. Here are a few pics since the last time I posted: Watts link http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...8/d0c8d3a9.jpg Carbon mock up http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps02e749a3.jpg Door panels http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...7D9AE9554D.jpg headliner board out of ABS [B]http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...7A120832E9.jpg rear panel form for fiberglass http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...79EC92F502.jpg fiberglass rear panel (still have to add some more layers) http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps327d9f62.jpg and here is some body work. Thanks guys!
Car has been stuck in body shop jail, so still waiting to get the shell back. Car is looking really good, but I did add a few things to the list as well. Supposed to get it back in a week or so. |
Do we all need to message Lance someway and tell him to hurry up?

Well getting closer to being able to start assembling this thing for the final time.
Got the car back from the body guy and put the mock up motor back in the car. Car goes back up to 417 Motorsports next week for the rest of the cage to be finished. Then time to get the car jammed and the firewall painted so I can finally start assembling this thing! Here are a few updated pics. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psdffe2975.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psee5103cf.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps61e866fb.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps59035dea.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psc87b5071.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps4e5079af.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8c4f33df.jpg |
Very nice project! I like the low mount twins. Torque arm, chassis/stance and the wheels are bad ass

Glad to hear it's moving along. Can't wait to see this thing finished and moving on its own.
|
Any updates? Interested to see more killer work!
|
It's back with me now for some more bars and a little fab work before final tear down, paint, and reassembly
Blake |
Who built the manifolds for the low mount turbos? Blake? Can we please get more pics...?
|
They are a modified truck manifold, I'll get you some more pics in the mor of when I get to the shop
Blake |
Looking forward to some updates!

What happened to this car???
|
Oh I still have it. I am now on my 3rd body guy and so far he is working out well. He is making some good progress so far, plus going back over some things. We are getting all the gaps set now then we will get it torn apart and he will get the fenders and bumper covers stripped and reworked for final mock up. The plan is to have the car painted by spring, then hopefully progress will pick up getting it assembled.
I know I am the only one on here that has had to swap body shops a few times to get the car done, right? LOL. Very frustrating, didn't expect this car to take this long when I started, but I know I'm not the first on that either. Plus all the 'added features' that have been added along the way :D Here is how the car is currently setting. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psn9bfipyt.jpg Here is how tall the entire car is, I love this! Measured through the shifter hole. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...pswecqhct3.jpg I was going to run the Year One fender flares, but decided to flush mount and lower the stock 78 flares instead. Here is the rear one that is pretty much done. I'm really liking it so far. (they do actually sit against the body, just didn't have them bolted down for the pictures) http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psoofu8xbo.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psxiqfiee0.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psa2iofkvz.jpg Also modified the stock door handles to look a little updated. http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psddzrkpk8.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...psucybx5r9.jpg http://i945.photobucket.com/albums/a...pslf5muinz.jpg |
Coming along nicely! I like what you did with the stock door handle. Do you plan to paint it or just leave it brushed like that?

Hey Blake, sweet project!
|
Great Project! I love the look you have and the stance is killer! I have a 78 as well and I had to raise my rear end up after it was stitting not quite as low as yours but I had issues with rubbing, even after rolling the fender lip. I'm curious how you resolved this issue?

Truth be known I am sure the car will come up a little bit, it is just sitting on solid bars where the shocks mount. |
It looks like our cars will be pretty similar,,,,how much hp are you shooting for?
|
The motor made 755 rwhp with eBay turbos on 14psi in my 98 TA. With the precision 62's I am thinking it will make 8xx pretty easy.
|
Wow ,,,that's more than mine,,,that will be a handful for sure :drive: it seems like most guys are only making 450/550 I'm thinking they don't need any more because it's too much on an auto cross course, mine made 655hp/670 tq,,I figure that will be fine for cruising around town and the occasional trip to a race track to beat up on a few of my friends:warning: :gitrdun:It sure seems like the 2nd gen birds are turning into the car to build huh,,,,I'm loving it since I've had my car for ever,,and it's been through a few different transformations over the years
|
That's the great thing about turbos, run around on the street with 500 hp, flip a switch and go drag race with 800.
|
Killer car, cant wait to see the final result.
Very fond of the 2nd gen TA. |
Nice work!
Looking forward to more progress on this... I'm rather partial to 2nd gen TA's myself! |
The Stance is spot on :) Blake and the guys at 417 do good work, sweet car man!!
|
Is the car running yet? If so, any pictures?
Love it! |
Unfortunately it isn't running. Been having a hard time with body and paint. One of these days it will be done....
