How did you come up with design ie camber gain and all the other characteristics associated with a front suspension? This will allow 11" wide wheels on the front of a 2nd gen? Are there any body mods needed to fit the 11's? I'm not anywhere near ready to buy unfortunately. I just like having choices. Are you planning to have these for sale as part of your normal business?

I love your camaro Scott. Honestly thought about buying it when you had it for sale.

Thanks

Thanks Guy's.I only live in Kansas because my lovely Wife does not wan't to move.God I hate this Frickin snow and cold weather. Then we have that humitity in the summer time.So I keep the door shut and build sub frames.

Rhino 03-12-2011 06:45 PM

I've gotta jump on the bandwagon too. I picked up a sub from Scott yesterday. I took some time today doing some preassembly and verifying measurements. Everything is on the spot with what I had expected. You can tell he takes pride in his work.

It's also nice that he's been running this himself and has good insight to getting it to perform right out of the box. I can't wait to throw this thing under the car.

SWAPMEETCRAZY 03-12-2011 07:31 PM

^^^^^^^ See what I mean Scott  jim

coolwelder62 03-13-2011 07:46 AM

David Pozzi 03-13-2011 12:08 PM

How similar are the 69 & 2nd gen subs? Same width at hubs & frame rails?

coolwelder62 03-13-2011 01:24 PM

David the 1st,and 2nd. gen sub frame have the same track width(60inches) and the frames rails are 32 inches wide out side to outside.I am running a 18x11 wheel w 7.375 back space and a 315/30/18 tire up front on my 72 camaro and also had this same tire and wheel combo on my 69 sunoco camaro. They are very close to being the same except for where they mount at the fire wall and go back under the floor pans.Let me know what I can do to help you out.Thank's Scott Mock.

I suppose these subframes would fit a third gen Nova? On the C6 spindles, do you use the stock C6 or would the AFX work? Also what motor mount is on these again? Last question, is the trans mount adjustable? Sorry for all the questions, Thanks

They will work on novas from 68-74.They use stock c5/c6 splindles w steering arm cut off and mounting holes redrilled.the steering arms are supplied w/the subframe. Thanks Scott

Ok so what can this Frame not do that AME or DSE can, aside from bent and hydroformed frame rails.

Cost you more money :unibrow:

Keep up the good work Scott

coolwelder62 03-28-2011 03:34 PM

My sub frame is very close to the design Wayne Due used.I have been looking for some one to bend the 2x4 rec. tube for me but can't get them to call me back.So I may be looking to go another direction w/ my materials choice. And will start working on a new light wt.# design here in a few week's.It is very hard to find a company that can bend 2x4 each direction. And then getting them to give you a quote is even harder. So for now I will cut and weld the tubing the same way the Nascar team's build their Winston cup chassis.Thank's to all 25 customer's over the last 5 year's who have trusted me to build their componet's. Scott M.

Track Junky 03-28-2011 08:14 PM

Any idea what a stock '69 subframe weight's in at?

jcal87 03-28-2011 09:03 PM

So tire size, suspension options, engine options its all the same?

coolwelder62 03-29-2011 08:42 AM

Using my fabricated sub frame on a 67-68 camaro you run a 18x10 frt wheel. The 67-68 camaro's are alittle narrower than the 69's .I have had an 18x11 on a 69 camaro w/no issues. And now my 72 camaro has 18x11's and they fit great.LS motors and T56's also work in them.I am working on finding a set of well built header's that will work w/the sub frame also.

coolwelder62 04-04-2011 06:29 PM

I guess I should have put the sub frame that I have left on this thread.

jamesg602 04-04-2011 10:29 PM

Coolwelder,

Would this subframe work with aftermarket a-arms say from DSE or speed tech etc? Do you know if I would be able to use my coilovers and a-arms from the DSE coilover kit (DSE speed package)?
