Come on Greg, you have to get down on FRIDAY!

GregWeld 05-28-2011 06:08 AM

Gawd Matt! Is that you driving the car?

If Rich promised to have chicks like that waiting for us... ummmmmm..... maybe. I'm certain they were all over 18 right?!:woot:

Seriously -- I'd make the effort... but I can only imagine the traffic on 680 FRIDAY afternoon --- through San Jose etc. and that's after I've hauled the trailer 900 miles. If it was me alone - I'd be there - but I'm bringing my 74 year old car buddy on this trip... and I'm thinkin' he's not going to want to sit that much longer - and neither of us drink. (I know we're boring).

Good -- You nor Renner AKA: "MPGS" (Mister Panel Gap Spray -- NOT Miles Per Gallon) will be there - so Matt and I can feel like normal height guys and my neck won't be sore all weekend. :D

I think you're making the right call on that. 680 to 101 going that way will not be fun I assure you.

Since we've met before I'm giving your old memory the benefit of the doubt, and I'm going to assume you're talking about the driver at the beginning, not the guy rapping in the car - if you even made it that far through the video (and I hope you didn't). In any case, the answer to your question is no. I only wish I was that cool.

BTW, Rich would never promise to bring girls like that... they're not old enough to buy him Bud Light!

Matt

Okay --- While I HATE to do this --- I'm canceling my trip to Pleasanton... the WEATHER is just not worth the effort - and particularly given the car choice... and open wheel roadster - even if the streets are "damp" just flips water EVERYWHERE including the interior. That just ain't happenin' ! Since it's going to be COLD as well... and it's supposed to be NICE here I'd just as soon fetch the poor little POS and cruise it around here.

The $64 question --- should I keep the reservation at HAPS?? Or will many of you also choose to change (coming up from So Cal...) to sit in the rain.
:(

I think we are out as well. Mary just posted that there is a auto x in Marina which is a day trip for us and sounds like GG will not let any of us run if it is wet.

ironworks 06-01-2011 12:10 PM

The weather looks great in Colorado. :D

We fly out tomorrow if you guys want go there.

Flash68 06-01-2011 02:09 PM

Bummer Greg... but I understand. I might be changing my weekend plans altogether now too. What a drag.

I am considering Marina, or scrapping it all and doing Big Willow the following weekend.

Stupid weather. Like I told Rich, I kinda wish there was someone I could be mad at! :willy:

Might wake up tomorrow and work on the car so it's together incase Sunday turns out better to take it to lunch somewhere.... Damn weather!!!!! :-(:(

Not sure yet either. Had plans with my wife that weekend in Carmel so reason why I ask, we might leave from there to drive to Sac. To make the show.

"Goodguys" Autocross-June 4th.
After raining most of the day, it finally cleared up enought to get some Autocross runs in.
Ole "4 Play" HHR-SS [330 H.P.-Pedders-Ect.] got in four good runs, and ran quicker than I would have imagined. Each run, lowered my time almost a second, until best of four runs, was a 32.98 Sec. run. Was quicker than most daily drivers and one Roush autocross prepared Mustang[many mods].
Going back tomorrow morning for some more fun. This is a real hoot!
Mike Maier's new build, 65 Mustang was impressive, with a quick time of 28.6.

It turned out to be nice today. No rain delays and many runs. I think I got about 6 - 7 runs today between 10am and 2 pm. After the Goodguys staff worked all morning to dry the course, they let us run about 10 or so laps to dry it out. After that, a good time had by all.

Very cool Brian. You ran the Vette there right? How did ya do?

I did fairly well. I won the Street Machine class with a 27.7xx. After they cut off the official runs, I got a 27.5xx.

Mike Maier ran on Saturday in the wet with his upgraded 66 Mustang and got a 28.3xx. Watch out for this car with his 850 hp Rousch Yates engine. No more 280 hp. He had a problem with a prototype suspension part, so he borrowed his buddy's 68 Mustang with Maier Racing parts and got a 28.1xx to win the Vendor Class.

Rob McGregor won the truck class with his No Limit truck. I believe he was a high 28.

Congrats Brian. The Vette kicks some tail again.

Wow will be interesting to see what MM does with that much power. :woot:
